A 6'3 Corner deep on AZ's roster is probably an upgrade over Dockery. Back support
-
But did you hear? Jarrett Boykin is visiting! Ahhahahh
-
The Panthers absolutely need to give Jake Long an offer
davos replied to Matthias's topic in Carolina Panthers
If he doesn't retire? Sure why not. -
You keep saying Boykin would be #2 when at best he'd be our 4th or 5th option...and that's even if we actually sign him. False premise, no argument to be had.
-
I'm saying that in light of the amount of trades.
-
Jeez louise This is a crazy offseason.
-
People would hate it but there's a team that just had their top-2 defenders retire and need a reboot. I can realistically see the 49ers make a run at Hardy. I'd hate it but whatevs.
-
I agree about the the safety class. It's really top heavy at CB though but beyond the top-8 or so, yea it drops off substantially.

Looks like the Iggles are getting Ryan Matthews. What a flip job they've done. QB: Sam Bradford RB: Ryan Matthews / Sproles WR: Jordan Matthews / Huff That has to be the most confused fanbase in the league right now.

To clarify the first paragraph: The ratio of people content with no splash versus those actually expecting these signings to be something special is like 30:1. Just temper yourself with your generalizations is all I'm saying. Also, this mid tier market you're referring to is the tricky one in the FA. We don't really know the bidding game going on about these guys. People were expecting Derrick Newton, Searcy, Parnell to at least be reasonable and look what happened. So, when we don't get one of these perceived mid-tiers, it begs these questions and frustration when in reality, GMs look to find that point where maybe they don't want to invest a certain amount versus rather waiting it out for the next opportunity. There's always that point, it just varies GM to GM and DG very much so seems to trust his own instincts with identify incoming NFL talent. Royal was who I wanted and I've mentioned that a handful of times...but he's been signed Chicago so I'm not going to fret over that. And notice what he's said: "address areas of need in the FA" and "fill holes through the draft" That doesn't guarantee the free agency signings are filling our holes, rather addressing areas of need.

See I'm fine with your argument but the fact that you are pointing this out is making those 4-10 or so posters feel as loud as they want to be. We need speed and quickness. I made a whole thread about that last year and got blasted. The thing is like I mentioned earlier, we've got a smart yet frugal GM who clearly has a dividing line between paying too much to fill versus back-filling in preparation for the draft. As a fan, it can be super frustrating but let's wait a little longer before giving this black & white approach to the offseason.
-
I really don't think that's the situation and you're exaggerating like crazy. Everyone for the past 2 seasons has been clammoring for a good OL. Sure some of the posters are the same but to lump all of this side of an argument that I really don't see when reading through this thread simply because we're interviewing Jarrett Boykin instead of a Denarius Moore or Cecil Shorts just seems...I dunno...over reactive? We've added Ginn. We've got KB. We've got Greg Olsen. We've got a deep WR draft ahead. And we've got a ridiculously overhyped WR market on our hands for a fanbase who desperately wants playmakers.
-
I think where a lot of oversight comes from on both sides of this argument is in trying to find that dividing line between where we think an offer is too much vs. reasonable relative to the other offers and surrounding market still available. We've got a smart yet very frugal GM in place and when it comes to the FA, it's a hard to predict situation when it comes to DG. We will probably give out better contracts but I think the whole Target v. Dollar Store lines have clouded people's understanding of the dynamics of the FA marketplace.
-
Who are these exact same posters you're referring to? Just curious. I see a majority of level headed people trying to reason it out...then maybe a tad trying to get excited about back-of-roster fillers and then a few people freaking out over the situation.
-
Notable still available without much news I've come across: Joe Barksdale RT Kenny Britt WR Kendrick Lewis CB Rahim Moore SS Stevie Brown SS
-
(1) He's just visiting so far (2) We'd be adding a young player to compete if he signs (3) It would likely be a cheap cuttable deal if he gets beat out I don't get what people are surprised or getting all ticked off about.
-
How the frick did I forget Brown haha
-
I mean if we went into the season like: Benjamin Draft Pick Ginn Brown And then the rest battle it out: Cotchery, Boykin, Bersin, Presley, Late Pick/UDFA ...I think we can manage folks.
-
JB's a good dude. Seemed to be on the rise before the Pack went out and drafted Adams.
-
Wait what?
-
Other than signing AJ Hawk, the Bengals may fly under the radar with some moves. Fairley is visiting: http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2015/03/10/nick-fairley-to-visit-the-bengals/ Eric Winston is coming back.
-
I probably missed it on an earlier page but I saw Searcy was signed by the Titans
-
In mildly interesting news, the Redskins are not quite being the Redskins this offseason haha
-
What on earth is going on today??
-
Dickson is now added. We should be right near the end of our re-signs about now methinks.
