  1. Yeah this is me as well. He looked Hackenburg level “I don’t belong here” Ive kind of accepted it at this point.
  2. Man if the Vikes had an upgrade over Cousins that team could be dangerous.
  3. I'm not looking to the Iggles as some pure & perfect model by any means. But I respect the way in which that franchise operates and has been able to rebuild multiple times after Super Bowl runs in rather quick fashion from Reid to Pederson to Siriani. The things I'd like to note: Howie & Nick's dynamic is a strong and well defined one. They know each other's roles & compliment one another. You have to take a risk. Which, I'll admit we've tried in some ways, but not necessarily with sure-fire talent. We've rather taken gambles on questionable or mis-developed talents And being a trend setter and not following the flock. Identifying NFL trends and responding to them in a calculated fashion So, having the dynamic between GM & HC established, being forward thinking and taking calculated risks are basically the crux here. These type of things are becoming way more important again because there has frankly been a few dud QB drafts and now the league is starting to thin out in that department. As the Manning brothers, Ben, Rivers, Ryan, Cam, Brady, Rogers, etc. have all wrapped/wrapping their careers, busts or average joes are boiling up like Fields, Wilson, D Jones, M Jones, Tannehill, Carr, Baker, Sam, Lance, etc. The QB market is looking more and more sparse and these instant-play rookies aren't there anymore. Mahomes, *Trevor, Burrow, Herbert, *Hurts, Allen & Lamar are basically the legit QBs produced in the league in the last 5 years. If we're lucky, there's 1-2 franchise QBs coming out of a draft, maybe 3 in a good year. 0 in some as well. Now in knowing this, in a league that's moved away from the RB workhorse approach, successful teams seem to be finding their superstar (or two) at wideout and building a strong OL. WR wise... Cooper Kupp Jamar Chase (+Higgins) Jaylen Waddle (+Hill) AJ Brown (+Devonte Smith) Jefferson Evans (+Godwin) I can go on here, you get the picture. All part of the better clubs. And in response, teams have had a big focus on their secondary instead of their DL. And on the DL, there's a targeted approach at a stud multi-tech guy who can play inside and out, along with dynamic LBs either on the big side of S tweeners. It's kind of what we've attempted to do on defense which I give credit to, it has been a bit forward thinking, but we just don't have the right linemen pieces. LAC, PHI, Bills, & Niners are at the forefront right meow. -- Okay then--this year so far, there has been a tremendous downtick in the QB-WR air play for many teams because of this response and also rule adjustments. Refs are simply letting more holds happen/staying a bit loose with the yellow flags. Really curious to how teams respond league wide. And throwing the question out--How would you rebuild a team right now? I'm really teasing this out because I really want to become one of those teams who seems to be a trend setter. We just seem way too reactive to things going on in the league and getting the litter from other teams. No real risks or coherent strategies, mainly on offense. And we're fluttering into oblivion. Really hoping we can find that with this next regime. You guys got any good ideas on where that next GM/HC combo might be? I saw the Ben Johnson thread by scot and it just got me thinking... cheers. source article: https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2022/04/21/howie-roseman-shares-an-intriguing-philosophy-about-following-trends-in-team-building/
  4. Honestly, even counting Rivera, this team hasn’t experienced much success with the offense centered around CMC. The current success model is finding what you think is a forward thinking coach, a QB (whether winnable-with or franchise), meanwhile nesting the top WRs ie Chase/Burrow, Waddle/Hill, Brown/Smith, Evans/Godwin, Kupp/Robinson, Diggs/Davis. Last year’s Super Bowl wouldn’t have been those teams without Kupp (the real 21 mvp) and Chase. We’re on year 5ish jamming this square peg into a round hole w/Christian. I know people think WR isn’t a problem but I see a glaring hole as big as QB and HC. The whole franchise needs to restructure how the offense is built. Well it isn’t even built anyways, no real vision, distinct features or identity. Root and stem. Minus a few obvious players.
  5. History shows you take a stab at a QB if you find one you like and need one in rd 1. If we’re sitting at 6-12 and either Levis or Ward are there, I’d take a gander. This coming draft will have 4ish first rounders come season’s end. Maybe more if McCall, Hall and Penix keep balling out. Really damn interesting group and I think we’ll be in position for one if we’re pick 1 or 12. Only issue is if we slip too far into the teens. Teams don’t let that high of talent fall that far. Would prefer not to end up with the Mac Jones of the class.
  6. Why are we peddling away from the poor coaching after one win in our last 10 games? Today was great for our defense. Cool. Snow showed improvement, some better defensive playcalling. Offense play, playcalling, and gameplan still very suspect which falls on everyone. OL was nice but we got like nothing outside of the Shenault play. Another 20ish yarder 1st quarter and no ball movement. And stop b*tching at other posters and crap jeezus. There's a clear and fair reason so many hate this situation.
  7. When he gets momentum and in a rhythm, he's an above average QB, but he'll either start off or have entire games where he just has no accuracy or feel. And there's just so many easy 5-10 yarders missed. Those yards are critical. Baker is just REALLY streaky and codependent. Have not been a fan.
  8. We've had plenty of flash in the pan games from Colbert & Gettis types in the past. Just hope Shenault continues to get chances and impress. Nice first impression.
  9. I think we need to try another QB and OC.

    DJ Moore

Offense was atrocious. And with a strong performance from the OL and run game. Baker and McAdoo are a very bad pairing. And in their own individual right.

    DJ Moore

We don't design easy plays for him. Very strange to not at least have 4-5 sure fire positive yarders. Pick style plays, slants in the gun, bad playcalling by McAdoo all around. Saved by CMC and ICKY+Brady today who were great IMO.
  12. Chris Olave has his breakout game as a rookie, 120 yards, 2 tds. Saints 26 - Panthers 20 Baker and CMC again look aight here and don't make a ton of mistakes, but the offense just stays bland and ineffective because coaching is awful.
  13. Oregon is using that kid like Mahomes. Tantalizing ceiling. His calmness in the pocket, progressions, awareness, quick decision making, ability to improvise without being ridiculous is all awesome. Seeing how Levis has been, I honestly prefer him over everyone but Young & Stroud at this point. Could keep rising.
  14. WOW. Tyler Van Dyke looks awful today against Mid Tennessee State 0-2, 2 ints, 1 pick 6
  15. Cameron Ward has a chance for a coming out party today. Wash St. V Oregon is the game to watch
  16. Hope his injury isn't much. The second he left, GA State got back into the game. That kind of showed how big of an impact not just on offense, but overall to his team he has.
  17. I really don't think they've ever truly used an analytics approach. It was all coach speak at the onset of the hiring. We've been using "wingin' it with matt"
  18. Disclaimer: I'm not actually thinking this happens, just more adding a cute title to the thread. Kuechly was just born for football, really wonder what will his next spot be. I don't know but it's in his veins. Would like to see him here in some capacity. Seeing our elite all-timers gives me the warm and fuzzies but damn it makes you realize how poorly our current roster is built.. Ron's Peak: Luke, TD, Cam, Kalil, Stewart, Olsen, what we have isn't even close. Fox's Peak: Smitty, Prime-Jake, Peppers, Rucker, Gross, Moose, Wharton, Minter, Morgan, Witherspoon, Gamble...holy crap we had talent Now? Who's on that level? CMC, Moore, Chinn, Moton...and a whole lot of TBDs or never will be And these rosters all had the same time to be built.
