Curious how big you see the talent gap between Hooker and 'the four'. Do you see a major talent gap or are you more on his age and ACL injury?

Collusion? How about each owner independently looked at the Watson contract and projectile vomited?

Draft him at the very tail end of R1 and we get five years on that first contract.

I’ll grant you both points, though I’m not sure that any of ‘the four’ will be ready to start the first game of the regular season, unless you subscribe to the ‘throw ‘em into the deep end of the pool and make them swim’ theory. I think you can still get two contracts out of Hooker before the team needs to move on to someone else. If you take Hooker at the bottom of R1, you could get five years out of that first contract. All speculation on my part but, until the draft, what else do we have to do?

LaPorta for sure but, that one handed catch by Washington on the corner route at the combine gave me the ‘tingles’. Would be thrilled with either and LaPorta should be available at 39. Question is, how do we wrangle both LaPorta and Uzo? I want them both.

Here’s a thought experiment: A. What if the new administration thinks more highly of Hooker than most of the draft experts here on the Huddle? Not that Hooker is better than any of ‘the four’, but that the gap between Hooker and ‘the four’ is not as great as many here perceive? B. What if the new staff believes Hooker is actually less risk per unit of draft capital invested?

If so, BPA or trade back in R1 perhaps? Would love to see Mayer/Washington in R1 and then trade back up into late first for Hooker but, I’m just another fan so what do I know.

I’m sure that the NFL and the Chiefs organization care ALOT about this. This is potentially sexual harassment and/or assault, along with one degree of separation from Patrick. That makes it news and why it found its way into ‘Around the League’. A settlement may make the charges go away and you can speculate if you wish whether Patrick or his ‘neerdowell’ brother have the financial resources to make good on that. If you have about equal grades on Richardson and Stroud, i.e. if you are relatively indifferent to selecting either, you aren’t settling. If the staff says that they ‘only’ want Stroud or ‘only’ Richardson then, yes, you have to go to 1R1. I think you could win with either. Stroud sooner but Richardson may have a higher ceiling but need a year of coaching up. For me, the really nice part is that I trust the new administration to make that call correctly. I’m just an anonymous JAG on the Huddle.

At three, you have a 67% probability of getting either Stroud or Richardson at substantially less cost in draft capital than trading up to 1R1. If both are taken before 1R3, your consolation prize is Young. If the new administration doesn’t like Young, well, that’s a different matter.
