Cap management and cap casualty. Happens when your contract is disproportionate to your on field performance. Nothing against him as a player. Nice guy. Team Captain. I blame Hurney, not Shaq. That said, team has to create some cap space. Bears have cap space in abundance, Shaq becomes a starting LB for the Bears. It’s just business.

We’re the Panthers. It’s what we do.

Lamar was playing for free? Who knew? Poppycock. He was under contract and cashing the checks weekly. He was being paid. He owed 'performance' under the contract to the team that was paying him, and a moral obligation to his teammates to not 'mail it in'. Anyone who deals with contracts understands the 'performance' obligation. Look it up. And thank you for coming to my Ted Talk.

No incentive? How about 1) you're being paid to play unless you are truly injured, which, if true, is tantamount to theft; it can also be prosecuted as compensation fraud if provable, 2) personal integrity. I'll admit that I'm old school and, apparently, honesty and integrity are no longer virtues and now considered passe'. No wonder teams won't touch him. He's destroyed his own brand.

Ryan Poles trying to drive up the cost of the #1 pick
bythenbrs replied to NAS's topic in Carolina Panthers
It’s often argued that you should choose quality over quantity however, it’s also true that “quantity has a quality of its own.” History buffs may remember that in WW2, we deployed many, many more lighter duty Sherman tanks against the more heavily armored Panzers and Tigers, which were superior but fewer in number. Simply put, we had more tanks on more battle fields and engagements than the Germans. Keep the 24 and 25 draft picks. Put more tanks on the field. -

“panic button” + “very bold move” = desperation In both my professional and personal life, I have never seen an action or decision made in desperation that had a positive outcome; in fact, it often made things worse. It must be an unwritten law of Karma… -

Do the math. 50 days X an average of three new posts per day on who we should draft = 150 redundant, speculative, quasi scientific posts on why everyone else is wrong and OP is right. Just shoot me now, please…

How can you predict the success of a college QB in the NFL?
bythenbrs replied to d-dave's topic in Carolina Panthers
Agreed. Luck may include being drafted by a team with good coaching and system (right place, right time), not getting seriously injured, talented roster with all the pieces in place on O and D, and then the universe smiles upon you, sprinkles you with fairy dust (masculine scent of course) and you get all the right calls and breaks. Who can explain it? -
