Can we start a Carolina chapter of the NCAAP? We need more pickle awareness and pickle-eaters (with 2 "e"s) -

They only make it look hard on TV. Kinda like NASCAR. (I know how to drive, why can't I be a NASCAR champ?) -

For the record, the Washington Times is most definitely NOT left of center. It's been incredibly right wing for many decades now. But please continue :) -

Free speech just means that you won't get prosecuted by your government for expressing your opinion. Nobody is arresting Dan Snyder for keeping the offensive name or expressing his opinion,, so the laws are working as intended. Does he deserve the privilege of trademark protection for an offensive logo? Maybe not. -
Beginning of the End For the Redskins?

Quite honestly, I don't have the foggiest idea. Not a clue. I'm totally ignorant of the history, other than what they may have touched on in junior high school, which was that they were warriors fighting in what is modern day Europe a few thousand years ago. I'm not personally offended by the Boston Celtics mascot because I don't know what your people would find offensive. But if you or someone else came to me and said they were offended by my wearing a Celtic caricature, even if it was just 1 person, then I would stop wearing it. I wouldn't take a poll of black or Hispanic or native american people to get their opinions on what Celtic people should find offensive. I now know first hand that it's offensive to some. And I would respect you and your culture and not deliberately do offensive things. It's just common decency in my book. -

Well it wasn't to honor and cherish them, that's for sure. -

If one was telling d!&k jokes, one might say that a high kick wasn't required because said joke -eller has only has 6 inches......of ground clearance. But I didnt say that. -

Having your culture mocked and riduculed is a little different, and I don't expect those that haven't been on the receiving end of it to fully understand. I don't personally lose sleep over it, but I can understand how some can be deeply offended by seeing some white guy wearing "war paint" and feathers riding a horse with a spear into a football stadium. -

We actually have been able to migrate farther away, especially after the invention of the horse-less buggy. :) I don't lose sleep over it, but I also don't buy that every one of these mascots was meant to honor and uplift native americans. -

I am part Cherokee and I don't like the name. And I hate the Cleveland mascot. And, quite frankly, the fact that you haven't personally met anyone that is offended probably has more to do with where you live, not whether or not we exist. And no I have never been on CNN, and the only time I have been on ESPN was when I stormed the basketball court after a big March madness win in college. -
No he doesn't! You see the car he's driving?

Maybe he's portugues or argentino :)

I think he means the U.S. defenders that held Ronaldo scoreless in the last Word Cup
-
Do you think Michael Vick only has straight line speed? He's a gifted athlete that can change direction at the drop of a dime, just like most of the athletes in NFL secondaries and offensive backfields. Now imagine he was introduced to soccer at age 5 and had 20+ years of coaching, practice, and league competition. You dont think he would be able to do what Messi can do with the ball? Even then, our men's team had a strong showing in the last world cup, barely losing to #1 Germany (1-0), then dominating Portugal with your precious Ronaldo. Didnt Portugal need a last minute goal just to tie us? And then we took the #2 Belgium team to overtime. Now imagine we had a few extra elite athletes that grew up playing soccer instead of football.
-
I agree. What if Michael Vick along with the NFL's fastest, shiftiest DBs grew up playing soccer, with over a decade of top notch coaching from elementary school thru college? And you had Calvin Johnson in the middle to direct headers into the goal? And Richard Sherman as a well trained goalie? Our men's team would be as dominant as our women's team.

For all you "pricks" that missed the game, you missed a truly masterful performance. :) And would some of you guys only watch if all the women were hot? OK I admit, I enjoyed watching Sweden play a little more than some other teams, but that's neither here nor there :)

Is he a special teams guy too? That could tip the scales in his favor
