I'm still somewhat of a newb when it comes to bringing guys up etc...why hasn't Suzuki had a look yet?  Drafted in 2019 and put up some really solid points where he's been playing.

We have a log jam down the middle with Aho, Trocheck, Staal, and Stepan.

Lorentz, Martinook, Jarvis, Necas, and Kotkaniemi can also play center if needed.

What really hurt Ryan was that he had a serious eye injury in 2019 and it’s taken him a while to regain his form.

Unfortunately, during that time, Jack Drury has really progressed and has more than likely jumped Suzuki in the pecking order.

I think Ryan projects as a 3C in the NHL and unfortunately for him that position is occupied by Jordan Staal for at the very least this year and next year.

I would not be surprised if he is used as a piece to facilitate a trade in the coming years as the Canes will still have a lot of young center depth.

    Centers Aged 21 or Under

    Jesperi Kotkaniemi (21)

    Seth Jarvis (19)

    Jack Drury (21)

    Jamieson Rees (20)

    Vasiliy Ponomarev (19)

    Blake Murray (20)

    Justin Robidas (18)

Jarvis is extremely talented he currently has the ability to make it worth it to burn that year if he plays well.

No doubt that Jarvis will be a good player but I think the Canes are thinking of it from a long-term contract perspective.

Ultimately I think it depends on how significant Nino’s injury is.

If he’s looking at a month and a half or so then I wouldn’t be surprised if Jarvis gets 9 games and then the Canes call up someone like C.J. Smith and roll with:

    KK - Aho - Turbo

    Svech - Trocheck - Necas

    Marty - Staal - Fast

    Smith - Stepan - Lorentz

I don’t think the Canes really want to burn one of Jarvis’ years due to what this off-season might look like:

    RFA’s:

Steven Lorentz - Try to re-sign for around 2x$1.35M

Martin Necas - Try to re-sign for around 5x$6M

Jesperi Kotkaniemi - Try to re-sign for around 3x$4M

Ethan Bear - Try to re-sign for around 3x$3.5

    UFA’s:

Vincent Trocheck - Try to re-sign for around 5x$6M

Tony DeAngelo - Try to re-sign for around 3x$5M

Ian Cole - Try to re-sign for around 1x$1.5M

Nino Niederreiter - Won’t be able to afford

Derek Stepan - Do not re-sign

Brendan Smith - Do not re-sign

    Buy-Out’s:

    Jake Gardiner

All these calculations put us right at the projected $82.5M salary cap. This means the rest of the roster will have to be filled out by ELC guys and having them under control for three years as opposed to just two would be huge.

Next years lineup could look something like this:

    KK - Aho - Turbo

    Svech - Trocheck - Necas

    Jarvis - Staal - Fast

    Marty - Drury - Lorentz

    Rees

    Slavin - Bear

    Skjei - Pesce

    Cole - DeAngelo

    Keane

    Andersen

    Raanta

  3.

    Well Jarvis, you’re up kid…

Keep in mind, at 10 games played he would burn his first year of his ELC.

Jarvis’ 10th game would be Nov. 22nd.

It looked like Nino did some damage to his ankle which would more than likely be a minimum of three weeks.

As Jarvis gets close to the 10 game threshold, it will be interesting to see if they burn his first year or if they call up a veteran like C.J. Smith, Stefan Noesen, or Andrew Poturalski.

Jamieson Rees would have been an option but he just had knee surgery.

  4. TDA is still going to get hate from people and that is fine.

If you are a public figure and you do something stupid, wether it was 15 years ago or 15 minutes ago, today’s society won’t let you forget it.

He’s free to vote for who he wants and believe what he wants, my only hope is that he has turned over a new leaf in regards to his character and he respects all people.

As fas as a hockey player, it’s well known that he’s well liked among his peers and he’s brought nothing but energy to our team.

It was nice to see our fans recognize what he’s added to our team.

Hopefully his great season continues and we get him locked up on a new deal.

Not surprised the Hornets lowballed him. That will bite them in the backside and cost them if they want to resign him this coming offseason.

Oh man that’s bad… there’s a fine line between a lowball and a great deal, this was a flat out low ball.

With his bird rights we can essentially keep him for any amount of money but they might have been able to get him locked early on a 4x$20M which would have great deal in hindsight.

I really want to see Jarvis man

Why keep use up a year of his ELC if he's a healthy scratch every night?

Intersted to see Raanta though hopefully we have 2 reliable goalies.

He has to physically play in 10 games. My guess is he’ll be kept up, get a few games, be sent to Team Canada at the end of December for World Juniors, and then return to his junior team. We may see him return to Canes during the playoffs.

  7. This team just keeps finding a way to win.

I thought KK looked solid tonight. His skating seems to be better and though he didn’t have a point, he was a net front presence on two goals.

Once that line with him, Trocheck, and Necas starts clicking… lookout.

    Let’s do it again tomorrow!

  8. If he keeps this up then you pay him and figure the rest out later. While it’s only 5 games in, he’s on pace for a 50-40-90 season.

Bridges and Martin are the only FA’s we have (RFA’s) and with a projected $26M in cap space next season we should be able to find a way to keep both if we really wanted.

I suspect this years team will look pretty similar to next years.

Welp, the Hornets may have just gotten cursed. Grant Hill and Brendan Haywood just said on the NBA channel that the Hornets could win a playoff series or even two. They also said Ball is a star the team can market and that Bridges is rapidly becoming one too. The positivity was ronald mcdonald omg GIF by McDonald's CZ/SK

At least it wasn’t the Barkley guarantee.

  10. Sometimes you have to squeak out an ugly one.

On a separate note, this team has some depth. 4-1 without our leading scorer from last year…

When healthy our rotation turns into:

G - LaMelo Ball, Ish Smith

G - Terry Rozier, Cody Martin, James Bouknight

F - Gordon Hayward, Kelly Oubre, JT Thor

F - Miles Bridges, Jalen McDaniels, Kai Jones

C - Mason Plumlee, P.J. Washington, Nick Richards, Vernon Carey Jr.

    Very solid group.
