  1. No one wants to answer because the question is foolish. There was bound to be improvement because the team was poo last year… the defense has improved leaps and bounds but when you lose a game you HAVE to win because of the particular unit that is said to have improved then people get pissed. Not to mention, there better be improvement, they spent a whole fugging draft on defense just for it to lose the game for them yesterday. And let’s not even talk about the offense which is worse than it was last year until Cam rescued this coaching staff. Cam might literally have saved your boys job if yesterday turns out to just be a fluke performance by the defense. Bottom line is on-field improvement isn’t worth a damn when you aren’t winning. The Browns have been “improving” for 30 years just to get brought back down to earth the following year. Hell, Rivera “improved” in his second year, he went from 6-10 to 7-9… improvement! Coaches are measured in wins and losses, that’s why they are hired to be fired unless they are in the 1% (Belichick, Coach K, Roy Williams, Greg Pop, etc.).
  2. In my opinion that makes it even look worse for Rhule. He hand picked his guy twice, got it wrong, and came crawling back to Rivera’s guy.
  3. The brand can be summed up as “below average”. Rivera’s (9-18) and Rhule’s (10-17) records are nearly identical through 27 games. Couple that with the fact that Rivera won his last four games of his second season and it’s easy to see that Rhule could very well have a worse record than Rivera two years into their coaching careers. Congrats to Rhule and Rivera for “building the roster”, but while we take three to five years to build a team that has to be torn down following one Super Bowl visit, the Patriots are headed back to the playoffs after a one year hiatus with Mac fugging Jones.
  4. Don’t reason with a fool. Most of the people defending Rhule were ready to fire Rivera after his first year and a half when both coaches have nearly identical records after their first 27 games… Rivera: 9-18 Rhule: 10-17
  5. There’s no documented backlash because college players aren’t interviewed as much as NFL players are and at that point why even speak on someone who is no longer a part of your program? A college player speaking out on a former coach isn’t a good look. Not to mention, the players that are being interviewed are seniors or team captains who are on their way out, not the players that were just recruited and now feel betrayed by a coach who said he wasn’t leaving. And no… the decision didn’t effect Reddick. Reddick graduated in 2016, Matt Rhule became the head coach of Baylor in 2017. So in essence, Reddick had $13.5M reasons why he wouldn’t care about Rhule leaving. Matt Rhule could be a fine person for all we know. Maybe he treats people differently and says things to his players differently behind closed doors. Unfortunately for him, all we have to go off of is what he says in the press and to this point none of it has been truthful.
  6. And McKissic murdered us… Rivera might have just learned something from his mistakes. Then when he put Gibson back in he ran like a man possessed. Not sure if Rivera would have made a change like that while he was here but at least he seems to be learning.
  7. Glad you were able to experience that and more importantly, glad that you were able to get help for the things that you are battling. Anxiety, depression, and mental instability are real. It takes a strong man or women to get help and I feel horrible for those that have to go through these types of things alone. Happy you got to enjoy your day! Keep Pounding!!!
  8. People act like bringing up Belichick’s history in Cleveland is damaging… Since 1991 (yes, three decades ago), the Browns best season occurred when he was the head coach (1994).
  9. Me knowing that I get to watch a well-run organization from top to bottom tonight.
  10. It’s not about being honest with the fanbase, we won’t win him football games. It’s about being honest with players… I posted this in another thread but this is what Rhule said when asked about the possibility that he might leave Temple. “This is hard man,” Rhule said back in 2015, via a CBS News affiliate in Philadelphia. “This is really, really hard. People start coming to your door and say hey, ‘I got four million dollars.’ But you know what, I’d rather coach Temple’s kids. I love these kids. I’d rather coach here and coach Temple’s kids then just sell my soul for four million dollars. That is the truth and that’s as honest and open as I can be with you guys.” … That’s as honest as you can be? Hell, Hugh Freeze was more honest when asked about the opportunity to leave Liberty to go back to the SEC stating that he loved Liberty but there were a few jobs he’d consider… A guy that most believe is one of the sleaziest coaches in college football managed to answer the question more truthfully than Rhule… Unfortunately that’s not all… you have this lovely text that he sent to his Baylor players AFTER he had already decided to leave. If we need to go even further we can talk about “how excited” he was to work with Cam before kicking him to the curb. He doesn’t have to be honest with us but be honest to your team.
  11. Solid troll 8/10… if he dabbed it would have been a 10/10.
  12. The worst part is that our coaching staff just sat back and watched the train wreck up close.
  13. Slot was where he should have been moved to. McLaurin’s least amount of snaps come from the slot and he stated just last year that he was learning the position. Worse case scenario is that Rivera moves McLaurin to the slot to match up with D-Jax but at that point you have linebacker help and you are only giving up 5-10 yard gains rather than 20+ yard completions. I get that Gilmore is still limited but he played 55% of the snaps yesterday. There’s no reason that he shouldn’t have been put on McLaurin with the safety shaded to his side to take away the deep threat. As far as Jackson goes, it doesn’t mean much that you can keep up with the receiver if your ball skills are horrible. HOWEVER, D-Jax has a had a solid season and we shouldn’t take him to the woodshed over one game where the coaching staff did nothing to help him out. It basically looked like they were shell-shocked that he was getting smoked and had no idea what to do to fix it.
  14. Don’t think it’s just a Panthers thing, hearing this complaint across nearly every sport right now. The sound guys forgot how to do their job during the pandemic.
  15. Brown hasn’t been great (average at best), but outside of Wirfs, Becton (who was a risky pick), Terrell, Lamb, and Jefferson… who do you replace him with? You certainly don’t replace Brown with Kinlaw who has been down right atrocious. In hindsight, we should have drafted Wirfs but we had just signed Okung and had Moton on the other side. It’s also tough to say whether or not Brown has been hampered by DaQuan Jones. Jones has been the worst out of the two and maybe that’s affecting Brown’s play. With the wealth of corners that we have, maybe giving Donte Jackson’s money to someone like Maliek Collins would help sure up the run game.
  16. To be fair… Kinlaw has been worse than Brown. From our pick (Brown), all they way down to the end of the first round, only Wirfs, Becton, Terrell, Jefferson, and Lamb are really above average NFL players. The 2020 NFL draft is on pace to have more first round incarcerations (Ruggs and potentially Arnette and Wilson) than pro bowlers (Young and Jefferson).
  17. Personally, I wouldn’t give Rhule another year if his team fails to make the playoffs this year. As of yesterday the playoffs were in reach until the organization poo all down their leg. Right now, the Vikings (tiebreaker lost), Eagles (tiebreaker lost), and 49ers all look much better than us. As far as the leash, I don’t have an answer because it’s playoffs or bust. Firing him mid-season won’t make anyone feel better even if the team is trash. I believe only 12 interim coaches have ever won a playoff game and it’s unlikely Phil Snow would be the 13th. If we are terrible again next year then we start another rebuild in the off-season unfortunately.
  18. This is getting a little rowdy for me, y’all have a good night.
  19. I think this is where our disconnect is. For you it’s one game… for others it’s another game of “missed opportunities” or “it is what is”. One game could easily be the difference in missing or making the playoffs which in turn could get your boy canned (I don’t think it will but you never know). I think the issue here is all that time under Rivera made you complacent. Trust me, Rhule is making $56M, he doesn’t need you to defend him.
  20. Guess I’ll see you in seven weeks then.
  21. Then we’d have a bunch of Super Bowls and we’d both be happy I guess. And past-tense hypotheticals are relevant when the person who fugged up is still with the organization and still fugging up. But that’s a conversation for next year when Rhule is in his make or break season.
  22. It’s better than being satisfied with reality when things aren’t going your way. Some of us actually prefer to see the Panthers get better and would prefer it be in this decade. But hey… five year plans turn into ten year plans and before you know it your are still overweight ten years later.
  23. We were playing if’s, but’s, and maybe’s a few weeks ago after the Patriots went seal hunting on our asses… might as well continue to play. If you don’t think about hypotheticals in the sports industry then you end up settling for Teddy Bridgewater and Sam Darnold as your QB because you were too short-sighted… after all, that’s why Tepper has a “five year” plan… to plan for the future…
  24. Cam wouldn’t have had much to stand on… it’s not the same situation as forcing a wanted player (Julio) to play. At the end of the day if he doesn’t play we end up with Lawrence or Lance and our fanbase ends up happy in the long run (i.e. how Houston will end up with Corral or Willis). As for the one person decision thing… that didn’t come from me. I personally think Hurney and Rhule made the decision together but ultimately as Rhule stated, he has “final say”. If he wanted Cam, he’d have never left. And now we’re in a situation where Hurney is gone and Rhule is still here, so yes, Rhule is going to continually get blamed as he’s the one that had to pick up the phone and call Cam.
  25. Julio was traded for a second and a third… not even remotely close to the same situation. Watson is wanted by teams, just not at the price that Houston has on him. In the long run they are going to end up with Corral or Willis so they’ll be okay. On our end, according to Hurney, no one wanted to trade for Cam… I doubt he’d have stayed disgruntled for too long knowing that. Additionally, it wasn’t exactly like teams were rushing to sign him once he was released.
