No Clowney, Wonnum, Jackson, Horn, and Woods will make the defense look much worse than it is.

Let Dave Canales cook.

Feel like I’m watching UNC’s defense… GT can’t even stop the run while stacking the box. -
I’m in the minority but I’d do it. 1. We have too many system players, we need more guys that can be creative and put the puck in the back of the net. Laine was once a 40 goal player and a healthy Laine should be able to put up 20 goals alongside his buddy Aho. Let’s not forget that Laine and Aho were magical at the World Junior Championships in 2016. Orlov did Kuzy some good and I think Aho would do Laine some good. 2. Laine’s contract is up in two years and the salary cap will only continue to go up. The Canes are one of the few teams that would still be in a fine position after acquiring Laine’s contract. In fact, the Canes could trade for Laine and then sign Jarvis to a two-year bridge deal and once Laine’s contract expires they can just give Jarvis the money that Laine was getting. Kotkaniemi and a third sounds like a reasonable deal.

So we added Ream and Pep Biel. Not great but decent transfer window. Should get us to the playoffs. -
Because Necas only signed a two year deal and if we aren’t contending for a championship then what good does he do us when he can walk for nothing in a year. The only reason we kept Skjei, Pesce, etc. last year was because we were going for it. If we aren’t a top five team in the league at the TDL then he’ll be traded. He’ll fetch a good amount because he has one year remaining on his contract.

Anyone know if there is any type of NTC on Necas’ contract? Five team, ten team, etc…

Going to be interesting to see who grabs the final 2/3 WR spots after Johnson, Thielen, Mingo, and Legette. -
Donte just didn’t look like the same player after the achilles tear.
-
Seen some rumors that he’ll start on LTIR and that there’s no timetable for a return.
-
Personally I’d go ahead and start the Necas at center experiment. Nadeau - Aho - Jarvis Svechnikov - Necas - Unger-Sorum Kotkaniemi - Staal - Martinook Carrier - Drury - Roslovic Extra’s - Lemieux, Robinson AHL - Blake, Suzuki, Jost, Jaaska Slavin - Burns Orlov - Walker Gostisbehere - Chatfield Extra - Stillman AHL - Morrow, Seeley, Ryan, Smith Kochetkov Andersen AHL - Martin LTIR - Fast

Being able to play route one football with Big Pat is so nice. Was glad we were able to get a point tonight. -

Hornets beat the Chinese National Team 93-62 Bryce McGowens: 20 points, 2 rebounds, 3 assists, and 1 steal Jake Stephens: 14 points, 4 rebounds, 1 steal, and 1 block Hornets forced China into 23 turnovers.
-
Hornets up 43-27 at the half over the Chinese National Team. Don’t think anyone in particular has stood out but the team defense has been good as China committed 15 first half turnovers. The bad news is Gueye got hurt.
-
Forgot to add Justin Robidas to my above list. Apologies to Justin. I believe those are all the players currently under contract who could see time in the AHL. All that could change with prospect camp coming up.
-
K.J. Simpson signed a two-way contract opening up another roster spot. 1 - LaMelo Ball, Vasilije Micic, Tre Mann, K.J. Simpson (two-way) 2 - Josh Green, Reggie Jackson, Nick Smith Jr. 3 - Brandon Miller, Cody Martin, Leaky Black (two-way) 4 - Miles Bridges, Grant Williams, Tidjane Salaun 5 - Mark Williams, Nick Richards So the Hornets have two roster spots and one two-way spot available. It’ll be interesting to see if Seth takes one of those roster spots. Also, after yesterdays Summer League game, Gueye might be pushing for that third two-way contract. The Hornets also have part of their MLE remaining. From the looks of it we could use another forward and another center in case more injury concerns pop up with Martin and Williams.
-
The Canes might have fooled around and won Chicago another Calder Cup. Giving them Tyson Jost, Eric Robinson, Josiah Slavin, Bradly Nadeau, Felix Unger-Sorum, Jackson Blake, Gleb Trikozov, Ryan Suzuki, Noel Gunler, Juha Jaaska, Scott Morrow, Riley Stillman, Ronan Seeley, Ty Smith, Domenick Fensore, Joel Nystrom, Charles-Alexis Legault, Anttoni Honka, Aleksi Heimosalmi, Spencer Martin, Yaniv Perets, and Ruslan Khazheyev should allow them to be good right out of the gate though I’m sure a good number of those guys will see time with the Canes this year.
-
I know there’s smoke around Ehlers and McGroaty but I’d hope Necas isn’t involved in any trade for Ehlers. In a perfect world we keep Necas for a couple years and add Ehlers through picks and prospects. Trading Necas for Ehlers just opens up another hole.

I got Charles Lee fever. We have another game against the Chinese National team tonight at 8 on ESPN2. Still no Salaun, he won’t play until Vegas along with Brandon Miller. K.J. Simpson is out for all of summer league.
-
Charles Lee had the Hornets running on all cylinders tonight. Hornets beat the Spurs 97-65. Mouhamadou Gueye led the Hornets with 21 points, 5 rebounds, 1 assist, 2 steals, and 3 blocks.
-
Hornets lead the Kings 43-29 at the half. Mouhamadou Gueye leads the Hornets with 15 points, 4 rebounds, 1 steal, and 3 blocks.
