  1. How would everyone feel if the Canes acquired Guentzel but the cost was Ponomarev and a first round pick?
  2. Exactly, The Cup is hard to win, it might be the toughest trophy to win in any sport considering the toll that hockey takes on the body and the amount of games it takes to win The Cup. Losing to the Jets doesn’t change the fact that we still have chance to win The Cup this year.
  3. Think we all need to take a deep breath here. If come Friday and the team still looks the same then we can all gather our pitchforks but no point in getting bent out of shape quite yet.
  4. Seeing conflicting reports about the transfer fee but just through my quick research, Abada seems exactly like the type of player we need. We aren’t getting many goals from inside the six - most of Abada’s goals come from that area - he has a knack for getting on balls that are played across the six. We still need to get better crossing from our wingers - he provides that - Abada should be able to provide good service for Copetti and Agyemang. He also looks to have excellent pace and pretty solid dribbling skills. I really like this signing.
  5. Regular season is overrated. Just make it to the playoffs and get hot.
  6. Charlotte has agreed to terms with Liel Abada from Celtic FC, the deal is believed to be in the $3M range. Abada is a member of the Israeli national team and requested a move after facing political backlash from Celtic fans in Scotland. Hopefully our fans show Abada some southern hospitality as no player deserves to be politically persecuted for something they aren’t involved in. Abada is a winger/forward and he recorded 13 goals and 9 assists in 47 competitions for Celtic during the 2022-23 season.
  7. ACC is coming down to the wire, lots of different scenarios out there that affect seeding for the tournament.
  8. Agree, but can’t be mad at picking up points on the road. As for Vancouver’s goal, Kahlina has to keep that out. The back line once again played well enough to get a clean sheet. And if Malanda keeps playing like this then he won’t be here long, big clubs will come calling.
  9. I like Zegras and think Rod is the type of coach he needs to become the elite player that most thought he’d be. Word around the league is he’s immature, Rod will fix that. As for Vatrano, everyone is complaining about scoring, if acquired he’d be our leading goal scorer at 29, next closest is Aho at 24. Zegras is a player you are banking on in the future but should still be able to help right now, he has hit 60 points twice already in his young career; and Vatrano should help in the present. There’s just not an elite player available for trade this year unless Brady Tkachuk becomes available. Buchnevich and Guentzel are other options but the asking price is likely high on those two.
  10. Agree 100% here. Wouldn’t be shocked if one of those guys if not two are Hurricanes on Friday. I could see Zegras and Vatrano coming in and Drury heading out with picks and prospects. Svechnikov - Aho - Necas Teravainen - Zegras - Vatrano Martinook - Staal - Fast Bunting - Kotkaniemi - Noesen
  11. We’ll see, I bet he’s not back until after the Friday deadline when the roster size no longer matters.
  12. Also, Raanta was put on IR. I definitely think that signals that at least one move is going to be made as we’ve opened up a roster spot. There might even be a couple moves made.
  13. Cheat? It’s not cheating. Deadline cap space is available to every team, that’s why it’s important to have as much cap space heading into the deadline as possible. It would be cheating the cap if we started putting players on LTIR.
  14. To be fair, deadline deal cap space is different. If it’s a deadline deal then the incoming cap space is prorated. We have just under $6M in deadline cap space. That’s more than though to make a move. For those unfamiliar with deadline cap space, it’s essentially prorated cap space. When a deadline deal occurs, the incoming players cap is prorated to just the remaining days in the season which would be 42 days.
  15. The Canes will also be sending the signing rights to Kirill Slepets to Toronto. The Canes will be receiving a 2024 6th round pick from Toronto. Not sure this makes any sense for us but oh well.
  16. I don’t remember the last time those three have played together, it’s been a while. But a top six forward is needed and ideally it needs to be a center unless the plan is to play Necas or Jarvis there. We essentially have one 1C (Aho) and three 3C’s (Drury, Staal, Kotkaniemi). I feel like it’s taking its toll on Necas. He needs more skill around him to be successful and I think Bunting and Drury are your prototypical grinders. I’d have loved to acquire Petterson and assuming Necas and Kotkaniemi (for cap purposes) we’re in the deal, we could have run something like this: Svechnikov - Aho - Teravainen Trade - Petterson - Jarvis Martinook - Staal - Fast Bunting - Drury - Noesen Lemieux That would give us two scoring lines, one shutdown line, and a very talented fourth line.
  17. Only line I like right now is: Svechnikov - Aho - Teravainen I’d like to land a 2C and have: Necas - 2C - Jarvis Then go back to: Martinook - Staal - Fast Then: Bunting - Drury - Noesen Kotkaniemi can sit with Lemiuex until he gets his head right
  18. SAT line looks good. Would have liked to land Petterson because I think he’d have been really good with Jarvis. Definitely need a shakeup trade wise. The second line needs a lot of help.
  19. No inside info but I think the package would have been something like Necas, Nikishin, Nadeau, two first round picks, and one second round pick.
  20. Saw that the Anaheim Ducks GM was at our game last night. Henrique and Vatrano are trade targets from the Ducks but they wouldn’t cost a roster player, the only other player that could be trade bait is Zegras and he’d likely cost Drury along with picks/prospects.
