  1. Real talk... the thought did cross my mind lol. Then I took the tinfoil hat off and looked at realistically. If this did happen (and it almost certainly didn't) dragging a players name through the mud for however many weeks or months with sexual assault allegations in today's political climate is not exactly endearing yourself to the player. Considering Watson current unhappiness stems from issue with his current ownership... that would be not smart.
  2. Oof. Rekt. Thats what I get for trying to multi task with reddit, the huddle, a toddler and work. Thats on me. Read where it stemmed from the initial suit filed by him and completely skipped this was a separate suit brought against him. Thanks for calling me on it.
  3. Oh lord... Internet is gonna have a field day with that.. theres gotta be more than that. Of course we won't know till the complaint comes out... which might never happen because now nobody can find proof they've actually filed, at least not in Texas. I dont care enough to check the Bar website and see if Beezbo or whatever is licensed in other states but its possible it could be filed in another state if this happened outside of Texas.
  4. Did you read the decision? The suit was dismissed, appealed and dismissed again meaning a judge ruled the claims baseless. Family was suing a doctor for medical malpractice after their 2 year old child died in their care for a routine surgery. The ads were an attempt to locate other families who lost a child to negligent care to bolster their argument, put pressure on for a settlement or search for a mass tort exposure. If it was my kid I'd want to make sure the doctor never worked again. You'd be surprised how many surgeons have patients die from legitimate negligence and go on to continue working because the insurance paid out. As someone who deals with Personal Injury lawyers daily for work this doesn't even register as scummy. This is no different than those dozens of commercials "Have you or someone you loved suffered from mesothelioma? You MAY be entitled to financial compensation" Just my take though. Don't mean to derail the thread. Will be interesting to read the complaint once available .
  5. It isnt voodoo. It isn't rocket science. They have done what they've done for a decade and just restructured contracts to convert base pay to league minimum and spread the signing bonus out over the length of the deal. Void years arent anything new. They've been around forever, hell we used them on Matt Kalil and recently on Paradis. Thats it, there's literally nothing else to it.
  6. Jayon Brown, Tyrrell Adams, Nicholas Morrow. Would really like one of those guys to go along with Adoree Jackson. Could add a nice young player at every level and allow us to fill out the offense in the early part of the draft.
  7. Would be the first time in the history of the league 4 QBs went in the first 7 picks. I'll believe it when I see it. That said I somehow could easily 100% see 4 QBs go in the first 8 after our pick so who knows. I just don't see ATL taking a QB given the recent commitment to Ryan by restructuring which makes him uncuttable or untradeable for several years. MIA and Cincy aren't taking one. Eagles ownership wants the team to build around Hurts so I could see them passing for a QB and the Lions have Goff with a massive contract and no WRs. While each of those teams could trade out, I dont see a team giving up multiple 1st round picks to move up for the 3rd or 4th best QBs in the draft.
  8. Adoree Jackson just got let go in Tennessee. 25 year old former 1st round corner. Injured to start 2020 but came back to play last 3 games. In 2019 in the 11 games he played he only gave up 390 yards and 1 TD. Hes moved to the top of my want list for CB.
  9. Not happy with this move at all. 1.3 million isn't some massive signing. I have a hard time seeing the team match his production for lesser pay.
  10. Oh these guys 100% aren't the future. I think they're place holders to set us up to go BPA or make sure we have at least some semblance of an offensive line if we need to part with picks for a QB trade. I agree they aren't top 1/3 starters at their position but I also don't think they're Amini, Byron Bell, Nate Chandler, Foucalt level bad. I dont love either move, but at least get what the team is trying to do. Id argue that Paradis and Williams injuries were a bit more severe and both looked substantially better in their second seasons back from injury but thats neither here nor there. End of the day we all just want this team to win.
  11. WHOAH WHOAH WHOAH... Kerr getting let go doesn't make any sense. Was a bright spot on the DL. I dont love the moves we've made today but at least understand what the teams trying to do.... This though? No way I get this move unless something crazy happened behind the scenes we don't know about.
  12. I didnt read anything, I dont have a social media account outside of Instagram and havent for 4 years now. Can check the time stamps, posted my response in this thread before Klein tweet was even posted. Regardless my decision to use 5 million as a base was for the same reason you just mentioned, because its an avg value of 5 and 4.5 respectively. I chose to look at cap hit because, like you said, it can be gamed. A player making 10 million can have 9 million converted to signing bonus and then only have a salary of 1 million. I was attempting to paint with as broad a brush as I could to try and account for any and all variables. Reviewing OTC it looks like we have every intention of trying Erving at LT and Pat as Center of the future. Looking at that list Erving would be ranked 22 of 32 LTs at 5 mil and Elflein would be tied for 23rd out of 64 at 4.5mil. Pat as a C as 4.5 would rank 19th.
  13. I was looking at sportrac 2021 players under contract sorted by cap hit - Thuney is not on there, feel free and point it out if I missed it. https://www.spotrac.com/nfl/rankings/cap-hit/guard/ Theres 160 starting positions on the OL if you include centers. My count of players with cap hits of over 5 million next year did not as all indications are these guys are brought in at guard and tackles so you'd be looking at 128 spots. We could run with 160 but we'd have to factor in centers with 5 mil+ hits too. I was going to try and do the math reflecting either Centers over 5 million or the same math of 56 players, 128 spots to see if it came out below 1 but I admittedly couldn't follow the math - granted I'm trying to do it between calls with attorneys but still. Finally the 5 million was just a quick baseline. We know Elflein isn't making 5, so that brings in a higher number of players making more which in turn lowers the perceived value per position. Average of 2 and 4 million guaranteed per year for our two linemen. I just don't see this as above average and haven't seen any numbers anywhere that would indicate it is.
  14. Hes a great story but an ok player. I like his flexibility at DT and DE as a pass rusher. He's shown flashes but rarely been consistent. That said, he did say he contemplated quitting football last year. While I dont want to criticize his state of mind especially during a pandemic, there is some concern whether or not he was committed and all in on football. If he isn't? I wish him luck in whatever his next venture is because his natural athleticism and skill, while still greater than anyone on a message board, arent enough to carry him if he isn't putting work in to get better. I hope he comes back if he's committed because I'm a sucker for the feel good story and he has shown enough glimpses of his ability, but in reality, we could likely replace him with a younger player.
  15. Erving gave up 1 sack and had 1 penalty in 5 games last year (279 snaps) playing LT for the Cowboys on a patchwork offensive line without any running game and a backup QB. Erving gave up 1 sack in 13 games as a LG for the chiefs in 2018. Eiflein was 1st team All rookie as a C in 2017 before getting injured in 2018 and then switching positions in 2019 to Guard. Played 1 game at guard, got hurt and was waived. Looked average with the Jets. Theres potential there. To say they've stunk at every position is simply not true. These are penny stocks. Low risk high reward signings.
  16. How about 6 million total or an average of 3million per player per year. Because that's what it is.
  17. There are 56 other Guards and tackles currently making more than 5 million a season in 2021. That number does not include the likes of Thuney, Rieff, Fischer etc that will all sign deals in excess of 5 mill per. We arent paying a premium here. We're handing out backup level contracts for players that have starting experience and have had some level of success, even if limited, in the NFL. All this in an effort to set us up for the draft to go BPA or package picks to move up for a QB.
  18. Positional flexibility. Rhule praised it during his presser and its coming through now. We've signed 2 players that combined have experience at all 5 positions on the oline for a combined 14 million gtd over the next 3 years. These aren't splashes, these aren't Matt Kalil signings. These are low risk high reward contracts that offer positional flexibility along what has long been our least valued position imo.
  19. Bit of a decent write up here - at least has lots of clips in there breaking down some plays. Smart, athletic/mailer guard who started his career as an all rookie center before getting hurt and moving to Guard. Has played all 3 spots on the interior of the line in college and the NFL. 3 years, 6 million guaranteed. Even if he sucks and doesn't deserve to be on a roster in the future, that's a relatively easy out. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.ganggreennation.com/platform/amp/2020/12/4/22149126/scouting-jets-offensive-lineman-pat-elflein
  20. yep. DJ alluded to and made sure to note that was Joe Brady front and center right behind him
  21. My favorite aspect of this pro day was the tidbit mentioned by Daniel Jeremiah during the broadcast. During the off-season Lance's QB coach, Quincy Avery, reached out to a bunch of NFL scouts, execs, insiders etc. They complied a list of what they called "QB needy" teams. Lance and Avery then broke down film together of all those teams and then crafted this entire workout with throws, plays, reads etc that are prevalent in those teams' offenses. Absolutely brilliant move to endear yourself to a team by showing you can run their offense and make their throws. I'm sure the coaches love the attention to detail and commitment to incorporating those throws and concepts as well.
  22. Hasn't been the cleanest pro day in history.... but GAWD ALMIGHTY that kid can SLING the ball. I think Trey was hurt not getting the same chance to play throughout the season but this should serve as an eye opener for people who haven't seen this young man play. Would love to be a fly on the wall in some of these meetings breaking down film. All in on Lance at 8 if the draft falls that way.
  23. He tore his Achilles like 2 months ago. Hes not playing this year at all, no guarantee he comes back close to his level for the price he'll command. Someone will pay hoping he bounces back. Pass for me.
  24. CMC is now off the table in any potential trades. (Good)
  25. I agree, but the moves are carrying more risk now. The only 100% no brainers for me are Ramczyk and Lattimore. Both are young and proven but would command big contracts before they held all the cards in negotiations because of cap limitations. Outside those 2? Releasing the players means you have to replace them, likely with rookies, while they've drafted well theres always a chance they regress if Fontenot was responsible for even part of their success. Potential drama with MT? At one point they were looking to move him and he played less games than CMC who people have labeled injury prone now. Another restructure on top of last year makes him untraceable for them. Cam Jordan's restructure means if his plays falls off a cliff going into his age 32 season it is going to be extremely costly to move on in either of the next two years. We'll see what happens...
