1 year 18 mill LMFAOOOOOOOOOO Even if it's "up to" 18 mill there's no way that base is less than 10 which is about 1.5x what he should be getting based on his injury history and age.

NFL insider Jordan Schultz on the #1 pick
SteveSmithTD89 replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
"Insider" lol. Jordan Schulz is a clown. It will be Bryce Young, until it will be CJ Stroud, until it will be Anthony Richardson. It's all conjecture and not one person knows definitivly one way or another and until that last weekend in April I imagine nobody will. I will be happy with either of Young or Stroud. If we can trade down to 2 and get extra picks plus one of the two I'll be ecstatic. -
Thursday night flexing and the Panthers

Fug hosting the draft. I want public confirmation we were hosed in 2015. -
Dear Chicago and media…. About that first next year…..
SteveSmithTD89 replied to TheBigKat's topic in Carolina Panthers
I'd add the Bears and Raiders to that second tier too. That's 12 without a doubt teams baring a catastrophic injury we should finish better than. Then I'd put us in a tier with the Saints, Lions, Dolphins, Chargers, Steelers, Browns, Jags, Pats, Cowboys, Giants, Commanders, Seahawks that could all finish with 3-4 games of .500 either direction. If Young/Stroud are as advertised and we stay healthy I think 24 or higher is very likely. Combine that with a second that was 3 picks away from a 3rd and another 2nd two years out and it means they valued DJ Moore worth as roughly a 1,2 and a 3. Love DJ but thats more than Aj Brown, Tyreke Hill and Devante Adams and he is not near that caliber of a player. -
I didnt say it was a good list, just that it was what Hopkins had relayed. I'd argue in terms of opportunity, scheme, QB, ability to pay him and chance of winning.... we may be the most logical/appealing option. We also may not be in on an alpha number 1 because we want to avoid the issues Cam and Smitty ran into with his development trying to feed a guy targets. That's pure speculation from me though.

According to Pacman Jones' source(s) on the Pat McAfee show today its down to 5 teams: Atlanta Pats Bills Ravens Raiders For those not in on the joke. The source(s) is Deandre Hopkins.
-
Hard time picturing the Patriots actually paying a player in their 30s top 5 positional money too. A player not named Tom Brady at least.
-
I see the same but I just cant see it. Hopkins and his disdain for Bill O'Brien is the main reason he was shipped out of Houston in the first place. Now the Pats new OC? Bill O'Brien. Time heals all wounds but that was a MESSY divorce. Can't imagine that deal gets made without both sides clearing the air well before time.

Adam Thielen interview with Pat MaCafee...
SteveSmithTD89 replied to Ivan The Awesome's topic in Carolina Panthers
Posted this in the Thielen thread but for those that missed the interview: Came here for a chance to win, believes we are building towards winning a super bowl and he wants to be a part of building that offense. Expects immediate success. Looking forward to being a teacher for the other guys. Reiterated SEVERAL times the goal is to win a Super Bowl and he expects to contend here. He is healthy and feels great. Finished the year healthy, was able to hit the ground running on off season workouts. (I did not know this but he owns his own protein bar, a couple gym franchises) Claims to be in best shape. He and his family comes out tomorrow to officially sign and get the lay of the land. We have a golf simulator 10 feet from the locker room, said that was awesome to see and something that did actually encourage him to sign. Said if they wanted to recruit him the two things we could have done to "roll out the red carpet" would be a golf sim in the locker room and a cold brew waiting when he walked in the door. We were 1/2 lol. Team did NOT say who we are drafting although he asked and pushed hard but they would not budge. There were additional teams pushing to sign him, two that were mentioned by name were Dallas and Denver. A hang up for some of those teams were his age and would only offer a 1 year deal. Originally did NOT plan on visiting. Only reason he even agreed to come out was the large amount of respect he has for Frank Reich. Said he has long admired him and his offense. Went on to praise his vision for building an offense, a staff etc. Said there are a COUPLE other WRs we are attempting to sign and he has gone full into recruiter mode. Gave props to our signings so far. Praised the signing of Andy Dalton and his existing relationship with him and said Andy being here "a huge part of the decision" to sign as well as praising Sanders and Hurst signing. All in all he seems like a great dude. I'm excited he is part of the team.- 38 replies

Bit about Reich speaks volumes about this staff and just further cements he was the right choice for the job.

Thielen coming on to the Pat McAfee show right now

Im sure you've already found it but in case someone else comes reading and it's in the thread: 2023 5th 2024 6th

Lets goooo!!! Be a big step to setting us up for BPA after we get our QB at 1.01
-
This one intrigues me.. maybe just a name at this point but I know early on there were talks he was revitalizing his career and flying to the ball with the Steelers. Wonder what happened there. Doubt it happens since we've got Shaq returning and Luvu/Chinn to fill in but its interesting.
-
Sorry thought the inference was obvious but I'd meant 3 years 25 PER so a total of 3/75 3/45 is less than he's making now. He wants that Tyreke Hill/Devante Adams money.
-
3 years 25 mil for a 3rd sign me up. No question.
-
3 is the absolute most that I would want. But what if he wants 5? What if he wants 4 tacked on in addition to his existing contract with high guaranteed money? Thats where I start to get a bit worried. I would give our 3rd in a heartbeat for him to come here and just play out the last 2 years on his contract. No questions asked. I just worry thats not what we'd be getting. And I agree, surround our QB with an embarrassment of riches on the offensive side of the ball. Do the exact opposite of what Hurney and Rivera did for Cam's career. I just dont know that 5 years and 250 million dollars for Hopkins AND whatever capital we are sending out is the best way to do that
-
No disagreement. He immediately is our best receiver since 08 Smitty. That said - how long is he going to be a great player. If he wants a deal paying him 25-30 million for longer than a year or two, 3 max (even that I don't feel great about that) then I'm out. Take that money and put it towards one of the top young guns in FA next year who will be in Nuks situation now at the end of their contract rather than the beginning.
-
I would 100% be on board with this but the whole reason he wants out is his contract no? An extension he just signed 2 years ago? That's what concerns me. If he is expecting 25million per season when he'll be 31 at the start of the season... I'm out on that. I'd rather take that money and spend it on Lamb, Higgins, or any of the younger guys coming through the next couple seasons.

He literally just said since last Friday he's told the team he's gonna play for the Jets because he doesnt want to retire yet and the Packers want to move on with Love. He's not holding anybody hostage. The report from today that the Packers want a Stafford like package of two firsts despite having zero leverage look like they're the ones holding everyone hostage.
-
Should have stuck around. Hes said he's going to the Jets, its his preference to go to the Jets. Packers decided to move on, he wants to still play. Only reason it's NOT done is that the teams are haggling over compensation.
