Bozeman being carted off per patriots radio
-
There were two miscommunications - one on the rpo to Smith where he was blocking rather than looking for the ball and a second on the 3rd down along the sidelines where the receiver didn't break when/where Baker expected him to. Then the mishandled snap. These are ALL errors that are usually the result of a lack of reps and timing. If I'm seeing that as a coach and my seat was a little warm - tomorrow I would declare the competition over and give Baker all of the first team reps from here forward to get that corrected. This of course will likely not happen because ole Rhule isn't capable of looking in the mirror and realizing this charade is detrimental to the team and in turn his own job.

Intrigued by the Izzo add. Was getting a lot of hype in camp when he was drafted before he got injured as a blocker and just became expendable when they got Henry and Smith. Probably nothing more than a body at this point with his inability to catch on anywhere since then but looking forward to seeing him in game.

First look at Baker in a panthers uni, of ourse Matt Corral, WRs not named DJ and Robbie, the new and improved offensive line, CJ Henderson and his next steps in the secondary. Theres enough I'll be watching the third and fourth quarters for more than just background noise this year.

Ding Ding Ding. Was 100% coming to say this. I fully expect tomorrow when Baker gets the snaps that Boze is his center. Let them get the exchange down together and mirror each other throughout camp.

Baker Mayfield doesn't have a "top 64 arm"?
SteveSmithTD89 replied to Zod's topic in Carolina Panthers
lol okay. Hes not Josh Allen or prime Cam... but hes also not Teddy Bridgewater, Chad Pennington, Kenny Pickett or Jimmy Clausen. He realistically is probably a top 16-32 arm in the league. Accurate, high velocity, low elevation ball. Bakers issues have always been those that come with a gun slinger QB. Its the "No, no, no, YES" plays that eventually turn into "No ,no, no, no, no nooooooooo" plays and the mixed bag of results that come with that style. I'm not saying he's a top 16 QB in the league but from a purely physical aspect there arent 64 QBs with a better arm than Baker. There probably arent 32 either. -
ITS HAPPENING! BLACK HELMETS CONFIRMED!

Feel like I'm a part of history. Wow. Its actually happened. -
I've long since maintained with a healthy CMC and Baker returning to his pre injury 2020 self we are a playoff team. The offensive line is night and day compared to last year. Went from easily a bottom 3 line to potentially a top 10 line almost overnight. WR group still has its stud in DJ, TMJ with another year under his belt, Higgins brining some familiarity with Baker and a (hopefully) hungry Anderson makes for a solid group that is more talented than half the league. RB - CMCs health is paramount because when he's right he's unquestionably the best in all of football. I love the Foreman pickup to spell him. TE - We may have the worst TE room in the league but Tremble and Thomas have looked decent as blockers. TEs have always had an important role in McAdoo offenses - hope ours are up for it. The Defense you know what you have. There are absolute studs at every position. DL -Burns coming off his pro bowl season, Brown and YGM entering year 3 lost of young serviceable depth in Nixon, Roy and a vet pick up in Ionnadis. Haynes enters as a pass rush specialist that jusy flashes every time hes on the field. Hopimg for a similar jump from another former tweener who flashed pass rush ability and went on to be a solid DE for us for a number of seasons - Mario Addison. We could stand to add another DE and thing we will as training camp winds down and/or final cuts are made. LB - Shaq finally playing up to that contract and now we pair him with someone like Littleton who can lay the wood and shore up running lanes. If Wilson even makes the team there'd be some more speed but I won't be pulling for him after his arrest this off-season. I'm intrigued by the size speed combo from the rookie LB (more edge) from VT and the more traditional LB from Penn State. Both those kids can move and Smith absolutely hammers people. Secondary - Chinn and Horn are absolute studs and would start somewhere on every team in the league. Action Jackson gets to slide into that number 2/slot spot that he looked good in last year and with the addition of Xavier Woods we finally have a competent safety to pair on the backend. Personally would like to see Chinn move back to the hybrid role he excelled at in his rookie season but with Wilks back I'll trust his judgement. ST - Finally and we'll keep it brief. Went from a bottom 5 punter last year to arguably one of the top 5 punters of all time. Zane was solid all year for us and we added a legit return man in Andre Roberts. Weve got the best ST unit we've fielded since 2015.

No mention of 2021 after a year of tape is out there on his offense. Even playing along and ignoring 2021 entirely and solely focusing on 2020 when he had Teddy who was extremely comfortable with the offense and knew it like the back of his hand combined with the fact there was nothing on Brady in the NFL yet - I'd be real interested in seeing how those call charts stack up from 2020 in the first quarter vs the 3rd quarter and subsequently how they stack up in the redzone. I suspect they would confirm what everyone saw on the field. Our scripted opening drives were very good. He continues to do the same in the 2nd half but defenses adjusted. We didn't. All very indicative of someone who wasn't quite ready. Doesn't even touch on our redzone woes. Brady may still end up being a stud OC in this league. But he 1000% wasn't ready and I'm not sure he was scapegoated at all - we simply could not continue to go through his growing pains with him.

Baker and Darnold have a fierce "competition" and both look sharp in the up tempo WC offense. Darnold starts preseason week 1 but it looks an awful lot like Cam/Mac Jones in NE last year - couple series, couple passes but mostly some run plays - Baker comes in and the playbook opens up a bit for more passing. Team will claim its all about helping Baker get that in game timing down but its still a competition. Baker starts the second and by the third preseason game has taken all the first team reps, Darnold looks about as good as Will Grier did facing 2nd/3rd unit guys and we flip him to Seattle where he has the USC connection with Pete Carroll and goes back to the West Coast for a 5th/6th and eat half his salary. Roll with Baker/MC and a practice squad QB into the regular season. This is Bakers team now barring any injuries. First offer they get to ship Sam out they'll take it.

Joe Person and The 33rd Team break down the Mayfield trade
SteveSmithTD89 replied to Mr. Scot's topic in Carolina Panthers
Why not? We know McAdoo runs an up tempo WC offense with a zone blocking scheme. I dont think it would be stretching to far to incorporate some RPO tendencies - especially considering Corrall success with them at Ole Miss. Everyone wants to keep their jobs and to do that they gotta win. Building a system around Baker gives them the best chance to do just that. -
Baker Mayfield is a Carolina Panther
SteveSmithTD89 replied to uncfan888's topic in Carolina Panthers
Let's Gooooooooo!!!!!!!!! 5 million and conditional 5th? You do that trade every single time. He bounces back to 2020 Baker and we're a playoff team if CMC stays healthy.- 833 replies

Watson's people expecting a full season suspension
SteveSmithTD89 replied to Mr. Scot's topic in Carolina Panthers
Wonder if that report/rumor of the initial offer of 100k per turning into a million per case actually turned out to be true. I cant imagine that ever becoming public. Buzbee taking a victory lap right now with that presser. How many women filed police reports? Any chance they're the last 4? I don't remember off the top of my head. Browns were expecting this. It's why they restructured this year's salary to reduce the amount of money he'd lose on a suspension down to nickels and dimes. Hope they rightfully get dragged for that once the suspension comes to a head. -
Idk man, this is the part of the season where everyone normally has eternal optimism. For me that offensive line is reason enough to get me fired up. McAdoo calling the plays is a massive upgrade to Brady and certainly Nixon. CMC healthy - the majority of you calling him injury prone were the same ones clamoring to shut him down. The hammy worried me. The ankle doesn't. Looking forward to getting 22 on the field with gaps I could drive my truck through. DJ Moore and the emergence of TMJr. Matt Corral waiting in the wings - I'm really excited we got this guy where we did. Looking forward to camp and preseason to see how he looks. Hopefully he's more Russ Wilson than Will Grier although at this point I'd settle for Matt Moore. On defense we've got Brown entering year 3 - the year it "clicks" for most Dlinemen. Burns, Shaq, Chinn, DJax all back and looking to build on what they did last year. CJ Hendersons development and where he fits into the secondary. Jaycee Motherfuggin Horn back Edge speed with Haynes, Amare Barno. New guys like Woods, Littleton, Ioannidis Punter and Kicker look to be a strength and not a massive question mark for the first time since what? 2015 with Nortman and Gano?

SHATAHT The . The way that everyone there feeds off each other is great. They've got awesome energy. There are several clips out there I can legit laugh out loud at every time I watch them. The interviews are real and genuine and I get a better appreciation for those people because they get to be their self on that show. I love the show.

I was driving the bandwagon for Baker and a LT at 6 pre draft. My stance remains the same - all depends on the price. If we're talking a conditional 6th/7th and they eat 75% of his salary or swap Darnold I am ecstatic for the move. Probably even more so now that we were able to get Corral in the 3rd too. If we trade anything higher than a 3rd while Cleveland avoids paying any of his salary or taking Darnold off the books I'll be livid and get my pitchfork ready with the rest of you. Just gonna wait to see how this unfolds.

Round 1 - The Carolina Panthers select Ikem Ekwonu
SteveSmithTD89 replied to Zod's topic in Carolina Panthers
Iiiicccccckkkkkyyyyyy!!!!!! Ecstatic with the pick. -
"The way it is in the building right now, Sam is our starting quarterback" That quote doesn't mean poo if the building changes when we get another QB be it a rookie or Baker.

KC looking to trade up into top 10.
SteveSmithTD89 replied to DaveThePanther2008's topic in Carolina Panthers
You're probably right since I completly glossed over and missed they had two seconds and I used 62 instead of 50. 29,30,50 does get us there. -
KC looking to trade up into top 10.
SteveSmithTD89 replied to DaveThePanther2008's topic in Carolina Panthers
For what its worth would still be a negative trade. They'd need their 3rd to get over the point value. Only reason I bring it up is because of the teams Camp Confidential series that showed our draft room and Teppers incisitence to tell teams to quit calling with negative trade offers. So I'm assuming they're using some form of draft charts, whether it's the ones we use who knows. -
Carry over some, obvious restructures of Moton and DJ. Extensions for Burns and Shaq. Its not hard to free up a quick 40-50 million but there will certainly be more holes next year.

Rhule: Sam Darnold will take a huge step this year
SteveSmithTD89 replied to Zod's topic in Carolina Panthers
Yall are so quick to hate you've forgotten about the ole Matt Rhule kiss of death. So long Darnold, we barely knew thee. -
I feel better about Howell in mid to late teens than I do any QB at 6.

Rumor: Garoppolo could be flat out cut.
SteveSmithTD89 replied to hepcat's topic in Carolina Panthers
I would even be willing to pay him 20-25 million for a year or two as a bridge QB. We are a playoff team with him or Baker this year. I just could not stomach moving anything close to a day 2 pick AND paying him 27 million for one year before needing to resign/tag him again.
