  1. Oh, EXCELLENT. That TD feature in today's observer (the lead on the special sports section) is now online. Great article, and even better picture. Igo approves of the picture I see! Jeremy Igo ‏@CarolinaHuddle 3m3 minutes ago Jeremy Igo retweeted Mike Persinger Solid Photo.
  2. Everyone on the radio is talking about how good Star looked in the pregame workout. They think it's very likely he'll play next week.
  3. So: injuries Chandler, Lotulelei, Brockel Sitting out: 3 rookies (the 2 UDFA and our last pick) and the newly acquired WR who is still learning the playbook. Makes sense.
  4. Carolina Panthers ‏@Panthers 2m2 minutes ago Panthers Inactives: S Marlowe, RB Wegher, TE Brockel, LB Mayo, OL Chandler, WR Norwood, DT Lotulelei.
  5. Ryan O'Halloran ‏@ryanohalloran 55s56 seconds ago #Jaguars inactives Hurt: Thomas, Marks, Branch, Lee, Gerhart. Healthy scratches: Cann, Bowanko.
  6. Black & Blue Review ‏@BlackBlueReview 11m11 minutes ago Star is going through pregame work, FWIW. #Panthers think next week is certainly possible Jeremy Igo ‏@CarolinaHuddle 3m3 minutes ago Big day for Shaq Thompson in his NFL debut. Got in plenty of extra work catching the ball before padding up.
  7. Gross talking in the radio. Suggested that CJ will have a rep count today given that he didn't play in the preseason
  8. Wegher is being interviewed on the pregame show. It sounds like he might be on the active roster?!? Surprising! We'll see. [Announcers said congrats on making the "active roster" - but perhaps that only meant the 53... it wasn't clear.]
  9. Joe Person ‏@josephperson 1m Been 15 yrs since I covered a Gator Bowl here. They've added 2 pools and the biggest videoboards in the world. Great stadium, now all they need is a winning team! I'd be glad to see Jax have a good season, but only AFTER we beat them.
  10. Hmmm. This puts some of our opening day losses under Ron in a little perspective. Tough to game plan when you have no film on a team. Definitely ups the challenge we'll be facing today http://www.panthers.com/news/article-2/What-to-Watch-Panthers-at-Jaguars/edbf4219-7299-49c3-afd0-ed640c40b33e

  12. By the way, just got to give a shout out to Scott Fowler. I'm an Observer subscriber, so I just got to log on and read that piece about TD, which doesn't appear to be online (yet?). It is a truly excellent piece of writing and an awesome profile of and tribute to TD as he begins his 11th season with the Panthers. Let's see TD get to the ProBowl this year... and even better, let's get him a Superbowl trophy and ring Go Panthers! Keep Pounding!
  13. CAT FIGHT: The Cat with the blue laser obviously is a good representation of the Panthers D - push that cat back...!
  14. As I looked at it again this morning, I realize what happened. Someone confused the Defense's stats with the Offense's stats! LOL LOL LOL (though it's a bit sad no one caught it...) The figures on the infographic represent yards allowed, points allowed, etc. Which means low numbers are good. We led JAX both on Offense AND Defense by significant margins last year. What's odd is, it should have been pretty obvious if one knows JAX was 3-13 last year. There's no way they scored more points per game than we did, or gained more yards. So instantly I knew it had to be wrong...
  15. Ok, at least one of the errors is not my fault. While I did use the Jags roster page for some information, I also used Pro Football Reference. They've got the weight and height incorrect for Parnell http://www.pro-football-reference.com/teams/jax/2015_roster.htm http://www.jaguars.com/team/roster/Jermey-Parnell/0ee02dbc-6f6e-4133-a20c-c56a7f61b312 One reason I used PFR is I prefer how they calculate years played. It seems to better reflect actual game experience rather than just an "accrued season." For instance for Jermey Parnell, he's played 4 NFL Seasons, while the Jags site (like those of all NFL teams) shows him as being in his 6th season, counting his practice squad year.
  16. By the way, I now notice a rather GLARING typo in the data I entered for the JAX O Line. Wouldn't it be something if their LG only weighed 210?!?!? I'm pretty sure that should be 310. Apologies for the error! NFL site has him at 315... http://www.nfl.com/player/zanebeadles/496980/profile Also Jermey Parnell is 315 not 245. Weird http://www.nfl.com/player/jermeyparnell/2507728/profile Sorry I didn't catch these errors sooner. Perhaps I somehow got weight data mismatched when copying players and data into Excel from the Jax roster page...
  17. Just a reminder of Fozzy shining in the spotlight...
  18. I want to see a kickoff return for a TD from my man Fozzy!! I want lots of Huddlers loving my adopted guy!
  19. Reading a piece on matchups to watch at the Observer this morning, one of the highlighted matchups was Michael Oher vs. Jags DE Chris Clemons. In the PFF depth chart rankings I posted above, Clemons is listed as "below average" - we might want to take that with a grain of salt, just as the Jags would be wise to do re: the "poor" ranking of Kony Ealy. http://www.charlotteobserver.com/sports/nfl/carolina-panthers/article34972533.html Clemons is 34 and has played 11 seasons. Obviously he's had some very good years. But here's hoping we can wear him down quickly with great ball control and lots of long scoring drives.
  20. Lots of interesting statistics and history of matchups between CAR & JAX at BBR http://blackandbluereview.com/pregame-stats-and-superlatives-panthers-jaguars/
  21. Thanks for the kind words @TheNewStandard It's nice to have been able to contribute to the discussion here. I'm such a new Panthers fan (really only since mid-late 2012) that I can't bring a knowledge of Panthers history. I'm also not a football expert in terms of understanding all the plays and strategies..., so stats analysis is one thing I can focus on, and enjoy. I hope I haven't set up unrealistic expectations though. I've had an unusual amount of downtime the past 6 weeks or so, thus my extensive posting as kind of a special "summer hobby," but my time for such intensive analysis is drawing to a close quickly. My posting may get quite limited starting on Monday. I've got two big reports and funding proposals to write in the next 5 weeks.
  22. Here's what I think the stats should be (rounded figures for yards...): Stat CAR JAX Yards per game 347 290 Passing Yards 219 188 Rushing Yards 127 102 Points per game 21.2 15.6 I'm not on Facebook, so I can't log on to comment at Panthers.com to tell them about the errors.
