Sure, I knew that, but I don't think we've EVER won 9 consecutive games either? I think the 8 game streak in 2013 was our longest consecutive win streak?
-
So am I correct, this 9-0 streak is the longest winning streak in Panthers' history? (I know we've won 13 reg. season games in a row, but I'm talking consecutive games, including the playoff loss to Seattle)

But back to the Panthers' win... this tweet was very cool and true about character of team. Rivera joked that they'd practice again tomorrow, and then said, "just kidding" to much laughter. A reader replied: Then Max Henson tweeted this:

And the Panthers continue to win Social Media... cute: https://twitter.com/Panthers/status/666010710741278720

Very hard for me to follow the game. My worst internet connection of the season. Finally had to give up radio and just follow Twitter and the ESPN play chart. UGH. So thrilled we got the win. Seemed like defense made great halftime adjustments and brought the heat in the 2nd half. Still a lot of flaws to correct - this felt more like a 2014 season game somehow with all those sacks and some crucial ST penalties... But the quest for perfection should keep the team focused. On another note about past & future opponents. SHOCKED at Lions v. Packers. Yikes. Any Given Sunday. But boy, the Lions beating GB somehow makes our win look less impressive. (If the lions can beat GB, maybe they're not so good after all....) And those Redskins! I know it's against the Saints, but wow, what a point total for Cousins. Definitely not an opponent to take lightly next week.

So frustrating to have Ginn's return TD called back on Webb's penalty. Also frustrating that we can't really seem to get all phases of our game in synch. Offense was on fire with Cam 11 for 11 hitting Olsen and all the WRs... and yet our defense is struggling allowing tons of 3rd down conversions. And Webb's penalty nullifies an awesome ST play. Oh well... as long as we win, it will keep our team hungry and wanting to play better, won't get complacent. Hopefully our D will make needed adjustments at the half. [Note: I'm only listening on radio today, poor internet here, so I don't have a perfect feel for how we're playing...]

I'm predicting another Panthers win: 28-17 If our WRs are in a groove like last week, that could mean another TD 35-17. It would be nice to get a big lead early and hold it all game. New ways to win every week. Let's make this one an easy one. If we do get a big lead, it might mean our coaches give some of the younger guys (CAP, Tre Boston, Delaire, Funchess...) more reps. That would be a good thing.

No, not this Sunday. CJ is not eligible to play yet. He won't play until Dallas.

Glad for your comments here, and looking forward to playing you guys. Excited for you that Mariota really seems to show so much promise. Hopefully it will mean good things ahead for y'all. re: editing, I think if you pay the $1 to register you get the editing feature enabled, or when you reach a certain # of comments or feedback. I forget the details. Not quite sure why that's the case, but it is...

On the Slaying of Aaron Rodgers (and other football titans)
KB_fan replied to PhillyB's topic in Carolina Panthers
Awesome. That is the best explanation I've seen all week for the 4th Q comeback. Thanks. -
Re: those comments about our drive summaries... yes, in some games we've not had long drives. In some games too we've relied heavily on a few big plays to get us in scoring position. But then there were those 4 80 yard drives against Seattle. Or the 3 10+ plays / 5+ minute drives against JAX. We don't have just one way to move the ball and to score. We can do quick deep strike. We can do ground & pound. It depends on the context. And of course 61 of our points have been scored off of turnovers. We're doing really well on sudden change offense and defense.

exactly. I was over at Pickwatch posting my picks for this week's games, and was checking out the expert picks so far, especially to see who is picking against Panthers. Got a big LOL. The "Team with best QB" bot picks the Titans. .. That's what blind allegiance to a stat or two will do for you. There's so much more that goes into making a winning QB. I mean look at Cam. Amazing rookie stats, but a lot of losses. I'll take 8-0 and disappointing QB stats vs. 6 - 10 and all kinds of statistical records (though those are fun to have too...)

Official Panthers - Packers Gameday Thread
KB_fan replied to Jeremy Igo's topic in Carolina Panthers
I've been waiting to post a prediction for this game... just trying to get a feel for how well our team recovered from the short week and injuries. Seems to me that they've held up well and are coming into this game strong. So... I'm calling a win. Panthers: 27-24 -
Artistic Expressionism and the Death of the Colts

Attention @Jeremy Igo: You need to change the pie rules. We need to be able to pie this post about 10 times each. Thanks! Amazingly in spite of Pepsi ad saturation, until now I hadn't really thought about the obvious Luke / Luck wordplay after Luke's interception that basically helped seal the Colts' fate. How awesome that it was our Lucky Luke who caused Luck to luck out. Love the picture of 12 & 59 together. AWESOME. -
Ugh. I'd forgotten our game against the Packers last year came after our OT tie with Cincinnati. And now you guys get us again following a really grueling OT game. Sigh. I'm definitely concerned that our guys are somewhat beat up. If we can pull out the win... this is the stuff champions are made of. Surely this is going to be TOUGH. I'm not ready to call it either way yet. I won't be ashamed if we lose, but wow, if we win.... words fail.

Oddly enough, we've not been playing as much ball control offense this season. Through week 7 (I've not yet entered the Indy game data), we'd only led in time of possession in half our games: Now some of this is due to good field position - especially against Tampa. Short fields make for short drives. But it seems that our offense has done some quick, efficient scoring drives in recent games. Few 3rd downs, just moving the chains quite quickly, especially in playing No Huddle...

I've been wondering how the short week will factor in, as well as the added exhaustion of playing in the rain until the early hours of Tues a.m.... This game more than any other this season I think will test the Panthers' mettle... really wish we had the extra day for rest & preparation. Just checked stats. Under Cam & Rivera, we're 1-2 in games following Monday night. Loss in 2012 & 2014, win in 2013... Obviously we've seen this year that the Panthers are breakig a lot of old stereotypes. I hope they really play up to their fullest potential on Sunday. What a win it would be to beat Green Bay. I really never thought it likely early in the season, but now it feels like it could be in reach. So exciting.

Any chance they'd bring up Cox from the PS to help give more rotation options / keep legs fresh?
-
Yes, that picture of the sidelines following Gano's fieldgoal is one of my favorites too. Question, whose ass is it that J Stew stepped on while running in for his TD?!?!? Ouch. At least he scored. I bet whoever it was would not have been happy if he hadn't!

I was thinking with Kalil & Norwell out that they didn't want to mess further with the O Line. Good job by Velasco, Scott & Silatolu for fillling in and getting the win. Pass protection seemed ok, but maybe run blocking was a bit weak. Looked like a few high snaps, but Cam dealt with it,
-
Does anyone know if Daryl Williams got any snaps? I'm guessing not.
-
Coleman, Tillman, Norman and Philly Brown also had excellent games. Jared Allen, Kony Ealy... Truly another team win. And with two of our Oline starters out, and thin Dline. They never gave up, even when you could tell they were exhausted.
-
My goodness. WHAT. A. GAME. Luke certainly described it with the perfect word in his sideline interview just now. STRESSFUL! Wow. Hard fought win to get to 7-0. Thought we had it in the bag at 23-6. Credit to the Colts for an incredible comeback... Cardiac cats really nearly had me not breathing.

awesome that espn featured spanish announcers!
