  1. Wasn't he carted off yesterday? I haven't seen any update on him today. I too thought he seemed like solid depth.
  2. Yeah, Darin was very candid about Perryman. It was surprising. Doesn't sound promising.
  3. Yes, WR availability or lack thereof could seriously dampen his stats.
  4. Sounds pretty possible. REALLY hope he scores a passing TD. Will go a long way in helping generate fan interest & enthusiasm.
  5. In Rhule's presser yesterday, he specifically mentioned that he was eager to see CJ Saunders get live reps at punt return, almost as if he is #1 returner on depth chart. (He also mentioned Shi as a returner.) Seems like Trenton Cannon might be in the mix as KR. Wondering what this could mean for the WR depth chart? How many do you think make the team? How would you rank them? Here's my guess: I think we keep 7. 1A & 1B: DJ & Robby 3. Terrace Marshall 4 & 5: David Moore & Shi Smith. Now it gets tricky: 4 or 5 guys, maybe 2 spots. Zylstra, Saunders, Cannon, Kirkwood? or Bayless? My gut says Zylstra & Saunders, but I'm finding it hard to rule out Cannon because of versatility. RB/ WR / KR. Not a bad guy to keep around. (Reminds me a bit of why we kept Joe Webb around for so long.) Thoughts? Obviously tomorrow nights game will be pretty huge for this group of guys, especially on Special Teams.
  6. Just learned today via Scott Fowler's latest column that Joe Horn is living in Charlotte to support Jaycee Hopefully we'll be seeing him at every game decked out in Panthers gear. Just a fun way to dunk a bit on the Aints!
  7. Ditto. Really loved seeing this, and I'm not even a native Carolinian.
  8. Thanks, I'll check out the price and let you know.
  9. Yes, true about increased roster size, so I'm not holding my breath. But a protected reserve status wouldn't cost anything and would give teams more roster flexibility.
  10. I REALLY REALLY wish that with the 17 game season the NFL had increased roster size and/or practice squad size. Would love to see something like a protected reserve status of at least 5 guys that could be put on practice squad, but permanently protected for the season, allowing for keeping young guys who are very talented, but still raw.
  11. Yeah, a few years back when I was doing more stat crunching, i dug into this a bit. Definitely true that more experienced teams had greater success in getting to playoffs. I will try to dig up that old spreadsheet (it's on an external hard drive...). It's like 4 or 5 years old. Maybe I can update it a bit too... though PFR now limits much of its data to paying subscribers. I might subscribe... will see if I have the time / energy to make it worthwhile.
  12. Do you mean the Panthers 2020 draft class? I think Rhule was talking about the 2021 rookies. Many colleges had short seasons due to Covid.
  13. Rhule or Snow (sorry, I forget now which it was) mentioned something in today's presser that got me thinking about something. He reminded the media of how few games a lot of the rookies played last year, while making a comment about the importance of managing player reps and needing depth. (I think it was Rhule talking about why it's so impressive that Jaycee is already acting like a pro in terms of caring for his body). This 17 game season is going to be BRUTAL for a lot of our rookies. The rookie wall could be way more evident than normal since many played so little last year. Makes me think it might be wise to temper expectations for the late part of the season. Hopefully youth will be an advantage and our guys will stay strong. But 17 games is going to be a shock to them mentally and physically.
  14. He's been pretty invisible this camp. Given some of the areas where roster is thin, OR the opposite of too much talent at some positions (Dline, safety?, WR) of guys who we want to keep and don't think will survive PS, it's getting hard to justify keeping him.
  15. Pretty sure I read that that they'll be in Sparkle City next summer too. Rock Hill no until 2023.
  16. Yes, unlimited possibility if bringing guys back from the IR this year, BUT only for those guys who make the initial 53. Troy Pride who was put on IR today is out for the season.
  17. IIRC, penalties did decrease dramatically in the second half. I think 7 in 1st half, 3 in second (all the late game debacle of 3 false starts in a row & "everyone but the center" offsides LOL). Was definitely surprised by Scott. Given that he had significant reps last year, was expecting him to be better.
  18. Truth. I lurked here since 2012 before I joined in 2014. Not much has changed in 10 seasons on this front.
  19. I almost always avoid the live game threads. They tend towards extreme reactions and a lot of stuff that's not really worth reading. But once the dust settles and emotions quiet a bit, there are usually some good threads worth reading. Thanks for good observations & perspective.
  20. Sorry to hear. Praying they make a quick & full recovery. Stay safe.
  21. I'm not sure about where Tepper stands. He loves "distressed assets". I'm more convinced Rhule would veto Deshaun.
  22. My opposition to Deshaun is first of all due to the accusations against him. Panthers have already had 3 strikes for abuse - Carruth, Hardy, JJR. I don't want to be a fan of a team that turns a blind eye to abuse. Also, I want to give Darnold a chance, and fear the cost would be too high for a rebuilding team. Finally, I could just see the league screwing the Panthers - we trade for him and he ends up on the exempt list / being banned forever. (Bad memories of the Hardy mess...)
  23. Best day for Darnold and the offense by all accounts. Lots of good energy.
  24. This pretty much is what I'm projecting too.
