Fan article about mismatches favoring the Jets
ColumbusCounty replied to Mr. Scot's topic in Carolina Panthers
Honestly, he could have kept going. 6. Jones Inside.. vs Van Roten 7. Reddick of the edge 8. Chinn at safety/everywhere on the field. 9. Summerize Donte Jackson's second half of last season assuming he plays at that same level or even further develops...i.e as he did with Derrick Brown. 10. Terrance Marshall - If two day 3 rookies end up being their #2... not only do you have to worry about Anderson but also Marshall. Specifically vertical and in the red zone game. I could continue ... a two TE set with Arnold and Tremble w/ McCaffrey on the field. Sam Darnold knowing most of their roster and tendencies... Shaq on the blitz. The intel we're probably getting from that Qb we signed. All of which will create mismatches. That's either common sense for us or homerism. -

Q. Williams just seems like a nightmare for the interior line. That is atleast until he meets Brown. I'm guessing Pat gets pulled by the 3rd series. -
If this man ends up on the Saints ... smdh

Only ones that stick out to me were both Vikings. Moss and Jefferson...particularly Moss. Oddly enough, I think Marshall is better than Jefferson was in college. I just had no idea he's as fast as he is. I didnt see it on his college reels. Atleast noy often. I actually thought Samuel leaving would hurt us...esp on 3rd down. I no longer have this feeling. Jesus how to you defend DJ Moore, Robby Anderson, Terrace Marshall, CMC and Dan Arnold/Tremble(who has Kittle potential imo). The only answer is blitz and hope you can rattle Sam, but at that point Christian will make you pay. We honestly need to do whatever we have to to keep that pocket clean for Darnold. Iirc we were still in the hunt last year up until week 12 or so with Bridgewater. We've easily upgraded both sides. I like Baldy as he's one if the few Ive seen give Carolina the fair shake..showcasing Burns, Chinn, Brown, and even YGM and Obada I think. After week 1, his next target will be Defensive. Either the front 7 or the dbs. Side note: Who the hell is our punt n kick returner?

2016 was indeed awful but last night I was looking at '17 and '18 draft class...the hit rate is crazy. 2017: CMC, Samuel, Moton, Elder, Armah, Butker .... The bad pick: Daeshon Hall.. Marty saw that draft and put together: 2018: DJ Moore, Donte Jackson, Ian Thomas, Marquis Haynes, Jermaine Carter. Didnt pan out: Gaulden, Andre Smith, Norton. '19 Hurney regressed...awful draft except Burns and Daley. In comes Rhule to assist Marty.. 20: Brown, Matos, Chinn, Pride, Stanley Thomas Oliver, Kenny Robinson and Roy. I forget what they "say" you would consider a good draft. Two starters and possible??. If thats the case we killed 17, 18 and 20. '16 not so much. Funny thing is, as good as those 3 drafts were Fitterer could have potentially drafted 5-7 key players in his first draft. Its just too early to tell. I do think this class has ALOT of potential. -
PFFs top graded preseason rookie wideouts.
ColumbusCounty replied to Zod's topic in Carolina Panthers
And thats a FACT!!!. 5 points should be added to each grade off that alone. Respectfully. -
Idunno if he's next up but iirc DJack is top 5 in the NFL in int's since he's been drafted. The 2nd highest defensive player graded on our team last season... And probably top 5 in speed also. Not to mention his passer rating when targeted at the end of last season. If we dont give it to him I can guarantee you he will get it elsewhere. Assuming he keeps up his current pace. Next up would probably be Moore or Reddick. I dont think Donte's too far behind though.
-
Congrats to Carter Jr!!! And no...again you dont cut Perryman.. You put him on a snap count. Let him spell Jermaine once in a while. "When" he is actually on the field he can perform. He's not the type of guy you count on for a full season though. Pretty sure we knew that much when we brought him in.. same as Okung. Its a reason the Chargers are no longer in business with these two and I dont think its performance based. Thats a good card to have in your backpocket. We're already thin at that spot. This is the same team that stuck with Whitehead for a half season, If I had to put money on it...Perryman will be a Panther.
-
THIS. Tbh, when we picked him up I wasnt excited at all. I'm now certain he makes this team. I actually thought Miller would make the 53 ..and he still might but as of now he's behind Luvu. As for the thread topic.... OL, Corner (injuries), and LB. Side note: We keep getting gashed in the run. That needs to be fixed. Last time we were getting destroyed by the run game we countered it by drafting a guy name Kuechly. Last year, we got lucky and picked up Chinn. Now he's a safety and the last line of defense. We need somebody infront of him. Perryman's health cant be counted on but hopefully Carter Jr and Shaq can step up. Then again, I haven't seen enough of the starters to identify if its truly going to be a problem. This Steelers game should show us alot.

LG I meant. Still not good for such a high pick. Time will tell
-
Actually our 3rd and 6th rounder have performed better. He's on the right. His hand placement needs alot of work...worst case he'll be a damn good RG imo after he corrects a couple issues. + he's been out of football for a while.

I'm suspecting Hoskins is #71. I remember watching and literally said damn he's quick at one point. I'd be suprised if he doesnt get more looks against better comp.
-
⁵Good debut for what it was. I dont know how much of the returns are concrete. I do think Marshall would translate no matter the class of competition. Phil Hoskins was pretty good also. Chubba has some explosion to his step. That said, it was an impressive draft class premiere. Only gripes this game was the from the left side of the oline, run defense and mlb. Fisher did some work today too, I just wish he was a little faster.
-
I gotta say...Darnold has sneaky speed. I'd say "almost" as fast as PJ Walker. I wouldnt say you have to use that speed but it would be to his advantage. I promise you he's taking off during the reg. season anyway at some point. I just hope he's taking off because of what he see's and not because its his only chance at survival. RPO's ... idunno ...breakdown runs ...YES

Carolina Panthers Biggest Draft Busts(Top 3 Rounds)
ColumbusCounty replied to kungfoodude's topic in Carolina Panthers
1. Armanti Edwards ...waste of time and draft capital. Think of converting a lesser version of Russel Wilson to WR. 2. Dwayne Jarrett ... smdh I wanna say Grier but it may be too early. I'd still take Clausen over him at this point in career. That said... #3: Jimmy Clausen ...+ we tried to trade into the back end of the first for this guy. I've atleast seen him throw a few catchable balls. -
That's just it, he's been damn near dominant since he first touched a football. High School: #1 rated Offensive lineman in the entire country. Under Armour, Max Prep and USA Today All American. #2 overall ranked football player. 5 star recruit. College: First team All-SEC, Countless 2nd Team All American accomplishments throughout his 3 years. 5 sacks allowed in well over 1,000 snaps. NFL: ............... lol I understand the NFL is a faster, more physical and athletic situation but I dont even think I can recall seeing a flash of potential from Little. It's frustatrating to think about. Hopefully something clicks..and fast. I will say he isnt the first to excel at every level then bomb in the pro's but it sucks for us. We've wanted a left tackle since Gross retired and when finally picked one we got Little. <-- pun intended. It could simply boil down to a lack of multiple things. Playbook grasp, mental elements, physical limitations, fear, not trusting his coaching, lack of film study etc..

There's the answer I was looking for.

As crazy as this may sound: A. This is the type of dude you cut then three years down the line he becomes Pro Bowl caliber out of nowhere. B. Givin Hurney's first round hit rate I find hard to believe he was actually trying to find a trade partner to get this guy. Luckily he didnt. Early returns are beyond poor but I guess he still has room to greatly improve. C. If we cut him, he's going to the WFT. Zero doubt in my mind. D. If his primary problem is speed rushers, again couldn't we just begin transitioning him to LG instead of LT. I'd rather force that instead of forcing him on the blindside. E. Could be worse... actually would have bet money that he was 3rd string or below. Obviously they are mixing up the lineups to see what works. Thing is, I wouldn't even consider Little in the top 5 of possible options at left tackles on this team. F. I guarantee you Will Grier is dreading those preseason games. I kind of feel for him. To make matters worse, two of those teams we face are scheduled for joint practices. Weakness identified.

Madden 22 ranks panthers second worst team in the league
ColumbusCounty replied to micnificent28's topic in Carolina Panthers
Wild disrespectful -
Well technically, at one point I think we had.. Oher-Norwell-Kalil-Turner-D.Williams.. Oher-Free Agency Turner-3rd round Ryan Kalil- We already know Darryl Williams- 4th-5th round I believe Norwell-Undrafted .. Wouldnt really say we drafted poorly on Oline except for Lee Ziemba (7th), Edmond Kugbila (4th), Little (2nd) (who still has a chance but was last seen as very underwhelming). Its the lack of Oline picks that hurt us. In the last 10 years and out of 70 picks(estimate for argument sake), we've probably picked maybe 7-8 olineman....if that. The safety position possibly even less. Maybe its a just ironic that those two positions have been a weakness almost every season. Maybe my numbers and memories are off but for some reason we dont typically spend alot of draft capital on the Oline. Which is crazy once you consider that our offensive line is almost half of our offensive starters. We have to figure it out though, our seasons depends on it. Without time Darnold will have a rough year and 6 to 8 wins would be our ceiling. With time, this could end up being a double digit win season.

Any word on Christian Miller
ColumbusCounty replied to DaveThePanther2008's topic in Carolina Panthers
With our Reddick signing ... Miller makes more sense to make the team. Depth is kinda thin anyway....we probably keep 6-7 Shaq, Perryman, Reddick, Carter Jr. Miller, Luvu, Stanford.. Paddy Fisher to PS . There you have it.
