Wth????? ...plz tell me he didnt say that
-
We'd certainly have the money to, if that's what we needed to do next offseason. That is assuming our own FA's don't take a 3rd of the budget to resign/extend.
-
Fair enough. I didn't realize they started Scott over Daley, I thought he got the nod due to injuries. Christensen could indeed be a beast in time. I'm reluctant to crown him based on the competition he faced at BYU though. Also cant forget that the answer may or may not be on the roster yet. Until after preseason cuts. That interior line though... should have some stiff camp battles. Hopefully Paradis will continue building on his growth last season. And between Erving, Elfein, Brown, Daley, Miller, Moore and Scott, the guard position should be pretty reliable. Really wanna see in particular: Derrick Brown vs Deonte Brown (again) Brian Burns vs Brady Christensen
-
I honestly think it plays out like this based on what I've seen .. If healthy Daley barely beats out Erving. Erving barely beats out Scott.. The wildcard is Christensen.. If you take away the role players with short arms have played at LT in history then Christensen should be the starter week 1. Idunno, I think Erving and Daley have the advantage with the latter starting "if" he can stay healthy. Then again, Carolina seems to be that one team that drafts/develops players that excel despite whatever limitation is placed on 'em. The only thing I know for certain is, we were graded around the middle of the pack last year ....I think we're improved.

Jets Depth Chart (Week 1 Matchup)

That Interior Dline tho.... We got this. My gut tells me this will be a message sending game for us. Gut also tells me, Week 2 we'll come back to earth. -
Just how good are we expecting Jaycee Horn to be?
ColumbusCounty replied to RIPTreyLance's topic in Carolina Panthers
My expectation for his first year is turbulence as he learns the scheme and speed of the game. If he can keep up with receivers and TE's without too much PI, I could very well see his ceiling as Ramsey during his rookie year. They also in common speed and freakishly long arms for corners. One thing is for certain, he's not Darryl Worley. I expect him to get picked on early and often but his attitude so far tells me he's up for the job. He wants to be great, that's unteachable. Side note: This pick actually upgrades both corner spots. And If Donte has atleast half of the ego I think he does, this should push him also. -
Ridley - Jackson or Bouye Pitts - Horn Julio - Chinn Ryan - Burns, Reddick, Brown, Jones Honestly, one could apply that exact question to our Offense and add a healthy Cmc and a QB who can throw further than 35 yards.

We do utilize the 3rd WR... but not as much as other teams because we have McCaffrey who is basically another receiver at any time. Which was/is the reason we didnt resign Samuel. We also picked up David Moore this offseason with slot intentions. Marshall imo is a #2...I think he'll contribute immediately but specifically in the redzone since he's 6'4 and that's a problem area. I say next year because that's when Robby Anderson's (our current #2) contract is up. Playing time, they all have a chance at... minus probably the LS. BUT serious playing time this year if I had to guess: Maybe 5 of the 11 and that's being generous. Horn (obvious reasons) Marshall (redzone)... Christensen (he'll be listed at tackle but may end up playing guard at first) ..He's athletic but his arm length might cause him trouble in practice with all the speed rushers we have. He'll primarily be going up against Burns, Haynes, Reddick, Miller, etc. But if he can come out of camp named starter over Scott then we're good. Or Scott could end up starting with Christensen as depth his first year. Alot of variables. Tremble (rotation with Arnold) And maybe Hubbard, depending on McCaffrey's health. I do think he easily beats Cannon and Rodney Smith. Its also is a strong possibility that Daviyon beats out Bravvion but he still has to beat out Daquan Jones. If your talking 50-60% of snaps and over: 2 of the 11 (Horn and Christensen)
-
I thought that also until we signed Dan Arnold who is purely a pass catching TE. Our schemes should evolve based on exploitation. Maybe we're planning on rotating both depending on down. Wish we could combine DA's and Tremble's skillset into the other.

3rd day made me a little more comfortable with the first 2. Horn I'm warming up to. Would have took Slater in the first. And JOK or Moehrig in the 2nd. OR.. even Slater then doubled down with Jenkins or Randunz. I just dont fully get the logic but it's not my job to. Think we could have went down 3-4 spots and still grabbed our db. I think Jaycee is to offset Pitts. And the Marshall Jr pick is namely for 2022, as of now he's probably 4th on the depth chart. I will say this though, it is ALOT of "future" potential in this haul. The fan in me says we may have walked away with 5-6 future starters if they reach that potential. In the real world, we're probably looking at 3.

I see our new OT already taking player spots.... foreshadowing perhaps... Or OT is in the wrong spot... Either way we find out. Lol, how does this happen.

Most physically talented quarterback ever
ColumbusCounty replied to Mr. Scot's topic in Carolina Panthers
Physically Talented: Cam He was the prototype athlete, he probably could have played any offensive position (minus oline) and excelled imo. QB, RB, TE, and/or WR. Not to mention on a couple spots on a 3-4 defense..maybe not starter level though. As a QB in his prime... his speed, toughness, and elusiveness are miles ahead of Allen. Arm strength might be pretty close though. Fastest: Vick. That speed was basically like having Donte Jackson behind center. -
What Are You Going To Be Upset About If We Draft A
ColumbusCounty replied to OceanPanther's topic in Carolina Panthers
Only thing I'd be "upset" about is anybody else picked if "Sewell, Pitts or Chase" are still available. Sewell: Tackles our Oline problem Pitts: Tackles our redzone problem Chase: If you thought last year was good with DJ, Robbie and Samuel lol. At the same time, whoever picked is apart of the family so that bitterness would only last around 24 hours. Atleast until the 2nd round, where I'd have another chance to experience the same dissatisfaction again. -
I just cant wrap my head around it... just a couple of years ago.. Greg Little: In 311 snaps AT LT IN THE SEC allowed only 4 pressures. Had a pass blocking efficiency rating of 97.7 and in his college career has only 32 hurries out of 2,179 snaps. He gets to the Combine and drastically underperforms. Enters the NFL and looks like a worse version of Byron Bell. I think they've tried him at guard also.... and he looked as equally bad. Maybe it clicks in Year 3 ... results so far aren't looking promising. And to think we traded up for this guy. THIS GUY would have been our first round pick if Burns wasn't selected. Disappointment.
-
This x10!!!! I'm not a fan of seeing this guy in the division. I've been saying Jeremiah was the best LB in this draft while most were stuck on Parsons. I think it's more likely Washington trades up for a QB (with Detriot) and the Steelers get JOK/Shazier 2.0.

No Pitts? Slater gone? Pene off the board?
ColumbusCounty replied to Ivan The Awesome's topic in Carolina Panthers
That's the thing...we just happened to be in the position to get either: #4-5: QB #1-2: LT #1: OG or OC #1:LB or DT #1:RB or TE #1:FS or SS # 1-2: WR Common Logic would say select one of the "1's" unless the # 2-4 qb falls. I still believe if Fields gets past ATL he'll be there when we pick and thatll ultimately be our selection unless someone trades infront of us. IMO, the Falcons might suprise us all and pick up Pitts. I could very well see that scenario panning out. -

ColumbusCounty replied to Ivan The Awesome's topic in Carolina Panthers
True !!! ... Scheme is everything. That's another reason I wasnt that moved by the Erving from Dallas signing. I'm not 100% but I'm pretty sure the Cowboys run a zone blocking scheme as well. Dealing with this class I think majority of who I listed would convert successfully just based off their mobile and athletic ability.. Sewell and Vera Tucker imo could compete if not out perform Slater. I'd agree he has the heads up on the rest of that group. But right under Slater you still have Darrisaw and maybe Cosmi. If not 5 then def 4 could start for us right now. Assuming they all have the proper coordination.. if they lack technique we can all hope the right coaching can get that line. -

ColumbusCounty replied to Ivan The Awesome's topic in Carolina Panthers
If we go corner all eyes on Asante Samuel Jr in the 2nd. As far as Pitts... If he's not there and we had to go TE.. Pat Freirmuth would be a very solid pickup...just not @ pick # 8. In that same situation at tackle... it depends on what we're doing with Moton. If they are preparing to shift him left then that opens quite a bit of moves. You dont have to be a 1st rounder to be good tackle. OT is deep luckily.. Sewell, Slater, Darrisaw, Cosmi, Jenkins, Eichenberg, Christensen, Radunz(high upside project), Trey Smith, AVT etc. 5 of the above could step in day one and start. To get back to the topic though: If Pitts, Slater and Sewell were gone the pick at BPA would be Chase far before Horn. Joe Brady is already familiar with the kid too. I just cant see him falling past the Lions in any scenario. Then again I never would have expected Henry Ruggs to be the first WR off the board last year. You just never know. -

ColumbusCounty replied to Ivan The Awesome's topic in Carolina Panthers
I may be in the minority but Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah is my fav lb of the class. Probably because I would just LOVE to see the havoc of Shaq-Denzel-JOK with Chinn roaming behind them. I'm a fan of physicality...aggressive but not stupid physicality. Been missing that since TD and Mike Mitchell were on the field together. Parson however would be better in our scheme. His blitz ability and his run defense would mesh well. I do think he'll be highly effective wherever he lands. -
IF only we had the video of this !!!!!!
