Official Panthers at Saints Game Day Thread

Canales with his damage control sideline interview lol -
I damn sure would have waived David Moore before ISM...smh on that one.
-
I'd think we'd carry more like 6 CBs w/ injury concerns surrounding our best corner. Horn, Hill, Jackson, Jamison, Smith Wade and Bootle until Dane gets back.
-
I can only barely see it happening... to the Bills (Joe Brady again).

Suprise: 1. Raym will make the 53. I don't think he lasts on the PS. Since preseason game 1, its been fairly evident the entire offense got better when he came in. Which forced me to look up the rookie. Over 2k+ snaps at center in college and only gave away 25 hurries, 6 qb hits, and 6 sacks. He was projected everywhere from 3rd to 6th. 2. Anderson was also a nice suprise but numbers probably make him practice squad bound. 3. Zavala looks vastly different from last year. Suprise cut will be at TE imo. 4. Matthews Not Suprised: OLB is a problem. Not too worried with the D as Evero didn't call the plays and 75% of our starting dbs didn't play. We've been looking to replace Burns and Yetur. Clowney at 1a with Wonnum at 1b is close but I don't even think Wonnum has practiced yet. KLavon isn't exactly who I'd be wanting to count on opposite Clowney at the moment. DJ Johnson still feels a year or two away and Eku disappeared after flashing the first preseason game. Its a long season and we're probably an injury away from having to blitz every play to manufacture pressure.

PFF grades: vs Patriots Best and worst
ColumbusCounty replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
I shouldn't be suprised as I basically watched the backups of the worst team in the league last year. Same as last year ..Defense won't be the problem. Oline, WRs and QB look shaky. I will say the playcalling looks much better. And if we catch the balls we repeatedly dropped the outlook isn't as bad. His saving grace is probably the fact all our WRs were ass last night. Mingo reverted back to his last year's mid season form.... the worse version. ISM dropped what could have been a a TD. Our best receiver was BY FAR the one that's currently a converted TE. If thats any indication, I hope we don't play in rain again. The only brightside in total is that we were without 20+ starters. -
Get well soon Mr.Scot !!!!!!

Ian Rapoport on Bryce: "Everyone had Bryce Young #1"
ColumbusCounty replied to Icege's topic in Carolina Panthers
Just based off his size he was probably took off a quarter of draftboards. I actually remember having to convince myself to accept the Bryce hype the last week of the draft. CJ was clearly #1 IMO. With AR having the highest ceiling. However, I thought Bryce had the highest floor at the time. If I had to guess....alot of FO's probably felt the same. It's a video on YouTube of all 3 of them in a QB All-Star game/camp before college. Ironically, it was a similar problem then with the MVP voting. IIRC they had to go back and re-vote on their peers without the personal bias and CJ ended up winning the vo. -
Bryce Young won't play in preseason opener
ColumbusCounty replied to Carolina Panthers's topic in Carolina Panthers
Lol, I've seen this movie somewhere before. -
Really think they've designed a few "jump balls plays" for Legette too. Bryce placing it catchable correctly is another story we'll have to watch unfold. He already has the athleticism but I also think he has the right mental to succeed(from what I've seen thus far). I wouldn't bet on him having Puka Nacua numbers/effect in year one though. Year 2-3 guy ....he needs time to develop. The same reason I'm not willing to give up on Mingo.
-
This.... + I'm almost certain Gilmore will be here. If he needs to learn how to be more physical off the line then keep Jaycee on em.
-
He might slip all the way to the fifth-UDFA. I think there's zero chance he lands here but the dude is talented regardless
-
We need a reliable pass catching TE... Tremble "could" be that with further development. We also need a RB with power...for short distance and goaline situations. We could get by with that we have if we had to but we could also certainly upgrade. I'm guessing the FO feels the same.

I've seen Leggette everywhere from the teens to 68(3rd round). It actually seems like the closer the draft gets the more he slides.

PFF Day 2 WR projection. Different take
ColumbusCounty replied to raleigh-panther's topic in Carolina Panthers
Idunno... its a weird ass situation. All training camp ..Bryce to Chark is the new thing. The season debut of that duo: A lil underwhelming. Dalton comes in: Chark TD Next week Bryce: repeat the underwhelming... ......it continues THEN: Vs Green Bay (Iirc) This is probably what the people saw in training camp. Next week: Back to normal Idunno how to classify it. Seemed like the whole offense was working with different playbooks. Add a C to the the two Guards we'll see. In college he could spin it. Not 70 yards Josh Allen spin but 40 if he could step into it and plant ... in the NFL, his deep ball got wildly inaccurate. I just dunno how much of that was due to horrible footwork. He needs a speedy/shifty WR for the short and intermediate. For the deep ball, he needs somebody that can track the ball and adjust. Somebody who can climb the ladder and catch the occasional prayer ball. Which is y I think his pops wants Leggette. And the reason Keon is still on our board imo. Side note: Besides body type, Legette and Mingo are not the same. Far too many people are already writing him off though. Give'em time. -

I don't know how serious our C needs are with Corbett in the mix BUT it seems a lil wild that they've put all those resources into the line but didn't address the most important position on it. I think we're using the Payton/Brees era formula. Elite Guard play over Elite tackle play. Brees wasn't a mobile Qb but he could navigate the pocket insanely well. He could also read defenses quickly and had a annoying ass quick release. That said, I despise the guy but Bryce has to be able to step up. It's that fact thats leading me to think that C is actually a priority and Corbett is a smoke screen/backup to LG. I don't think they're spending any more $$ on that line. So it's either 1 of 3 choices... Corbett is some unknown pro Bowler at C or he's atleast average at the position. 3rd option would be the worst case, which places the question mark in the middle. They released Boze to slide Corbett over? Nah, our next Center is coming from Oregon, Duke or Georgia imo. Hell I don't even think we've selected a Center in the last decade iirc.- 109 replies

30 Mil...... Damn!. How much $$ do we have tied up across that entire line? I will say Him and Hunt next to each other is VERY stout. If only I had as much confidence in Corbett at Center, we'd have brickwall infront of Bryce. Idunno how much cap space we have left but I figured they we're waiting to see if Gilmore will sign back for a couple years before they went moving money again. I also think we have our eyes on a tackle in the draft. I wish it were center but hopefully Corbett is more Ryan Kalil than Tyler Larsen/Greg Van Roten.

Would you risk early pick on Peyton Wilson?
ColumbusCounty replied to Jmac's topic in Carolina Panthers
Depends ... but I do think Dan has a target for this dude already laid out. NO DOUBT in my mind he's in love with the prospect of either Wilson and Cooper. If I had to put money on it...if either one of them are on the board, they'll be a Panther. As for needs it depends on how they view those exact positions. I think center is a glaring need but they seem to have Corbett locked in to the position. With a GM in his first draft and Canales as HC "everything" is on the table. Hell the Wildcard is the fact we brought in Bo Nix for a top 30 visit. -

His talent screams 1st Medical screams 3rd If he's still there at 39....ofcourse At 33....he'll have competition vs our other prioritized needs.
