Matt Rhule on why Darnolds option was picked up
ColumbusCounty replied to philw5289's topic in Carolina Panthers
That incredibly comical until you remember this ass clown is coming back... both of 'em. To be fair though, Sam didn't ask for this ....its just the hand he was dealt. And the craziest thing his, he really has all the tools except the mental aspect. He has his moments throwing on the run but under duress he's consistently horrible.. I'm not so sure that's something that one can fix. Even with an upgraded line, "if" we managed to sneak into the playoffs in any form next season I have no doubt in mind he'd crumble. He's a good enough to have on a roster just not as your Plan A. He's a backup at best. That said, he'll go out next year and put us in prime position for our next coach to get his QB in the 23 draft. Atleast by then we should finally have the proper protection in place. Or... Sam gets his Oline and he finally balls out. Only thing sobering about that are the turnovers he's had in even a decent pocket. I really dont know where we go from here. I do know, that was stupid af to pick up that option. Rhule thought he was getting Tannehill..in actuality he may have picked us up the semi improved version of Clausen. -
Aside from equipment manager. Nothing...literally nothing. Honestly wouldn't trust him with the water.

So Who Can/Should we Get as our New OC if Rhule Stays?
ColumbusCounty replied to Michael G's topic in Carolina Panthers
Lol, Rhule knows whoever he brings in we'll probably be his midseason replacement. With that in mind, ladies and gentlemen... Get more familiar with Nixon. -
Is the defense really performing that well?
ColumbusCounty replied to Mr. Scot's topic in Carolina Panthers
Correction: We're still good in yards per game, mainly due to our passing defense. Run Defense were 19th. Rushing Td's we're in a 7 way tie for 12th. Points allowed by D (7th)..go back our last 3 and that changes to 18. -
Is the defense really performing that well?
ColumbusCounty replied to Mr. Scot's topic in Carolina Panthers
The way we play on the first drive is what I expect the majority of the game. Same goes for the offense. The first 3 games really threw us off schedule. As soon as I heard "playoffs" coming from our FO I knew it was a red flag. It literally gave me taking out ads in the paper talking Superbowl before the season started vibes again. It hurts to say but yea we are a little soft on both sides. Watch the games. We never dictate to the opposing team. We get trashed upfront. We're not disciplined. Our players cant handle criticism. We cant adjust. Left side runs all season. And when we do get to tackle...wrong angles, whiffs or we get thrown to the side. We have grit on our team, just not enough. From my POV about 40% of our players shy away or are scared of contact. Imo. The power run game will always be our achilles heel. But that's to be expected when you only try to get faster. That said on defense: Shaq, Robinson(limited action), Bouye, Chinn (who needs to go back to lb), Reddick, Luvu and Horn(limited) all play pretty hard. Burns has effort but loses contain too much. Lol it can be coached up but I have zero faith in our coaches. I'd assume if you looked at the last 6 weeks our defense is nowhere near #2 in yards or points allowed. Keep in mind our team is extremely young by league standards. -
Jimmy Clausen speaks in support of Matt Rhule on Cameo
ColumbusCounty replied to hepcat's topic in Carolina Panthers
Do you believe in a parallel universe -
When looking at this...taking into account: Position & Player Importance to this team, other FA's (can we upgrade with the same money), and what I think our mess of a front office will do... I see the following coming back - Zane G. (Needed unless we plan to draft one late) Frankie L. ..(Carter wont return over Luvu) Reddick...(Rhule guy... don't know if he accepts though) Gilmore (Team friendly but respectable deal. Extremely good mentor for Horn, Henderson, Taylor and Pride)..not to mention he still has gas left in the tank. Also predict they'll lowball Donte. He'll net us a nice comp pick. Burris wont be back. Zylstra is up in the air... Either Cam or PJ is coming back. My gut says Cam via Tepper influence. All I got.

This... John Miller and Michael Jordan are nowhere near starter level. Literally EVERYONE see's this. How do you watch this film and conclude those two to be your starters next week? ... Even the center looks awful..BUT center is an entirely different beast. It has to be sabotage. I just can't calculate how you watch that and name those your as starters the next week....pick a week and watch'em. Miller has consistently been trash the majority of the season. Idunno, I just refuse to believe that this is the best we can field. The effort is laughable.

This!!!!! And sadly I cant forsee him getting there before he's shown the door. He also strikes me as the jealous type who operates out of fear and emotions rather than intelligence. The whole "I could be in college making more but I'm staying here" quote along with the rest of the Athletic article uncovered to me. The DBO timeout garbage....Autograph violation wth??. These are not college kids sir. Ofcourse he's not a fan of Cam. Personality is too threatening. Makes me question alot of prior releases ...i.e, Perryman, Kerr, etc. I just cant see how you even give that man another season..esp after that article. Funny thing is, it's worse. Imagine what we don't know. Then again alot of his former players came back so something is working..it's just not working here.

Matt Rhule says Darnold will start Sunday
ColumbusCounty replied to trueblade's topic in Carolina Panthers
Lol, I was literally just thinking Rhule doesnt want Cam to break that trend. I think he has them graded somewhat evenly. I honest to God hope he wouldnt be that petty but I could definitely imagine it. I do predict Cam starts next week vs Brady though. -
I mean entire...as in every ounce of Panther football. We're almost there. Offense is consistent trash and ST are almost non existent. The defense atleast I can be half proud of. Even still... it could definitely get worse. Example: We basically got dog walked by Tampa playing the preseason squad....insert David and JPP + the 57% of offense they played without and things get a bit darker. This week we dont even have a center. The next two games will be very interesting. And I gotta beg the differ, the poo show started at the Giants imo. The saga continues though. The toilet is only getting smaller every Sunday.

What position are not needed this offseason??
ColumbusCounty replied to WOW!!'s topic in Carolina Panthers
Would say RB but McCaffrey being out highlights what we lack. Then again we abandon the run too quickly. Depends on his health. It's like having Okung. When he's out there your good but can he stay out there is the question. Chubba will be better and bigger in Year 2. He has alot to work on this offseason. Esp blocking, hands, and ball security. -
Pretty sure Tepper is an analytical freak. Tendencies, averages, data trends, etc.. Unless we get turn into an entire poo show the next two games, Rhule will get his third year. Just based off Tepper's previous words and why we brought him here: his prior record as a coach per year...specifically year 3 turning around an org. At minimum he'll get half a season. That and the fact that the world seems to think we have the #2 defense in the league will keep him halfway safe. That's just how I see it playing out ...the only problem is we're trending down. And the team doesn't seem to fully buy in to the "process" from my perspective anyway. Also, the double qb move has and continues to make us the laughing stock of the league and too much negative or embarrassing media could call off all bets. This is his product at the end of the day. I just dont see Tepper moving forward just yet though...but I wouldn't be shocked or opposed if the opposite happens.

Ooooo.. I get you now. I'm picturing strictly for OLB. I like Shaq and I do think he improved (esp early on) but I wouldnt be opposed to really solidifying that position. Between the draft and FA this offseason we need to find our answer for the power run game. By any means. ...aside from Coach, oline and QB that is our biggest need. And teams will continue to exploit that until we address it. We traded strength for speed. I will say with the current FO any linebacker acquisition is interesting to me. Full faith in Dan Morgan if he's included in the process. Wish we could have had Luke and Dan scouting at the same time.
-
I like Smith...kinda reminds me of Shaq off the blitz. With us though, I could see us picking a Josh Ross in the 4th. But if I had to pick a late round LB for the outside it would be Darrian Beavers from Cincinnati. We gotta stop that run and even in the 4th I think he'd be a Carter upgrade. Not to mention his versatility. You should check him out.
-
Id take him or Ingram but again I want Linderbaum first. We need that Kalil calling out protections type guy. In a trade down situation we could possibly grab one or the other. But the drop off from G and the drop of from C aren't the same. Yea I'd take Ingram later and Linderbaum in the first. That's all assuming BC works out at LT.

Robby Anderson: “We don’t want no fake fans”
ColumbusCounty replied to Panthers Rhule's topic in Carolina Panthers
I mean I get the point. And obviously people are still posting so we havent gone anywhere BUT Bro... If I'm making 15 Million per year, I wouldnt care if they tossed a whole fruit salad on the field. It just is what it is. -
On the bright side...We'll FINALLY properly address our offensive line this offseason!!!! It's sad that that's the only thing I have to look forward to regarding the Panthers. I swear, we are ALWAYS missing something on offense... Got QBs but no WRs..get WRs but then no OLine...next year we'll have WRs and Oline but no Qb. How we made the playoffs in 2017 is severely underrated. BC was a bright spot in yesterday's game. He did damn good as a rook in his first start. It wasnt pretty at times but Shaq is a former x2 Pro bowler/All Pro. Brady has ALOT to build on. We may have something here. Took 90% of the season to be over with to see it but atleast he didnt get the Brown treatment. Fitterer could easily leave the draft and start next season with a starting lineup consisting of: Brady- Ingram -Linderbaum- Brown-Moton Or switch out Brown with whoever is better between Brown, Pat, Erving, Omameh, Horton, Scott, FreeAgent(??)... No more Miller and Jordan. I REALLY like Linderbaum though. We could theoretically trade back into the late teens and get him, our second rounder back and another fourth...maybe more it's we end with a top 5 pick. I said all that but knowing Rhule we'll probably run to the podium for Pickett.

Losing Out is the Way
ColumbusCounty replied to Move the Panthers to Raleigh's topic in Carolina Panthers
Hell no... we ain't losing out. Not by design anyway. Besides if you want to draft a QB...next year is the draft for that. Build up the damn Oline (and I mean build it STRONG), solidify the defense and have it ready for the Qb of the future if he's not currently on our roster. That's why if I'm Rhule, I'm playing BC and Brown for the rest of the schedule to see exactly what we have to work with moving forward. -
Matt Rhule isn't going anywhere. Not this season or offseason. Revolving door @ Qb, countless injuries, probably the worse pass blocking Oline in history, a QB learning the scheme midseason, over his head OC, most penalized team in the nfl, etc etc. Even effort has been lacking (which may be his biggest hurdle). Even with this we still were in position to be somewhere near 8-4 and a lock for the playoffs. "Most" of the problems presently are offensive based, besides our run defense. He'll probably be allotted 1 or 2 more years to dump resources into the offense like he did the defense. Tepper wont fire Rhule b4 the 3 year threshold. Sorry to burst the bubble. He's is a hedge fund guy. No way in hell do you make that type of money without understanding the value of patience. That said, the biggest move we'll make is shipping our next 3-4 first rounders for somebody's QB if we dont have some sort of optimism heading into next season. Sadly
-
Damn near agree with your entire post. Gotta say though, as I've mentioned before, this isn't the first time we've had obvious problems at stopping the run. The answer we had for that the last time was the drafting of Luke. Shaq stepped up this year but he's no Keek, he's more of a less dynamic Davis. On defense we need an starting MLB and stronger DT's in the interior. We also need to move Chinn back to linebacker. As luck would have it this FO let go of Perryman before he even took a snap.
-
He's had a couple bad games but he's been pretty solid. He's still developing. Physically and within this scheme. PFF isn't the gold standard but they've has graded him poorly the last couple weeks... this is the same dude that made their All-Rookie team last year, along with the PFWA All-Rookie team. The skill is there he's just got to refine a few things. I get it though...microwave expectations. You wont find consistent instant dominance unless your just an all-world athlete...i.e Aaron Donald. Most players should b allowed 3 years to develop before passing serious judgement. Doesnt mean he shouldn't be held accountable, he still has a job to do. I'd give him the benefit of the doubt though. Mario Addison, Charles Johnson, KK Short, etc..all examples. Give him time.
-
Tremble needs to start and stay. Ian is big as hell but he plays like he's Russell Wilson's size. Too damn big to be getting pushed around like he does. Also he may have the weakest stiff arm I've ever seen on an NFL player.

Julian Edelman twists the knife inside a dead dog.
ColumbusCounty replied to hepcat's topic in Carolina Panthers
Whoa...Woah... Plz tell me that's photoshopped tears. -
And in hindsight you think that was a wise decision? And actually, we gave up a 2nd, 4th, this year's entire passing offense, and picked up his option next year. Not to mention the hospital balls that are injuring 50% of WR room. I'll half that one with Brady though. That's something.
