  1. Why is Sanders playing so much? Did Chubba get dinged up?
  2. I agree, and the video does a great job of pointing out both Bryce's developments, and the coaching staff seeing things (his drop back timing) and adjusting concepts/formations to fit him. Also, thanks everyone for point out I misspelled Bryce, rookie posting on my part. I will get better as the season progresses.
  3. Checking in for week five and it seems like there is plenty of blame to go around for Brice and for Frank. The D looks serviceable, and the O looks abysmal. I really appreciated this video on the performance of Brice in his first three games. I would recommend it as it is VERY balanced with where BYhas struggled to adjust and some of the things the coaching is trying to compensate for in his game. There are two things that he said that really struck me. 1. Brice has to figure out what he can and cannot get away with on his creative plays (which is where he shines). Direct cause of 2 fumbles. 2. New QB, New HC, New OC that has never worked with the HC and two major injuries on the Oline muddy the waters on evaluation. I totally agree with this as a lot of things have to go right, and the traditional development of a QB is incremental. Overall I was always wary of taking Brice Young so high because I am a big believer in plus athletes at the QB position having a higher floor, and with a rookie QB in a new Offense you are virtually guaranteed to be performing at the floor. Brice is not a + athlete, and all of his "elite" skills only show up when he has mastered a playbook and comfortable with the speed and physicality of the game. Now that we have Brice, I think the only way to appropriately evaluate him is to let him develop so we can see if those positives can succeed in the NFL. Of course the offensive line must play better, and of course the play-calling needs to be better, and of course the WR need more separation, but these aren't problems that can fixed in a week and Brice doesn't have the skill set to immediately impact the game the way that the other 1st round QBs can. It will be a long rookie season, but with the red rifle under the center showed us that there is enough in play-calling and surrounding talent to field a mediocre offense. Strap in for a rough 5 weeks as the Oline, Coaching, and Brice get used to each other. I would expect that it starts to gel Week 8-9. I think the worst coaching decision that Frank has made this season is that Brice got so few reps in the preseason. His greatest asset was always billed as his processing, and his creativity. To rob him of true gametime reps against NFL level competition in order to "protect" him or to hide the offense was a severe miscalculation. Brice should have played the first half in EVERY preseason game. Wins and losses don't matter, and you could have been three weeks ahead on designing plays and the offense to help Brice have early success.
  4. Anyone know what they gave up to get to 80? Didn't show it on NFL Network.
  5. I Poo'd you for solidarity... good luck brother. ^^^
  6. I don't fault you for your overall assessment. I am guessing you have watched Mitch since college and are a fan of his so that obviously gives you more insight into your "eye test". I am just saying using per-game statistics as a comparison tool allows you to say crazy comparisons. Like Andy Dalton is better than Cam Newton, or Jared Goff and Josh Allen are roughly the same if you look at their 2019 and 2020 performances. Looking at raw stats is just as bad as only using the eye test.
  7. So I am at a disadvantage because I have watched a total of maybe 6 Mitch Trubisky games between the Steelers and the Bears. I have watched maybe 25 games of Derek Carr. If I totally ignore the stats and go by my casual viewing of how they preformed on their respective teams, Derek Carr is a significantly better quarterback. He is given much more control of the offense and makes throws that Mitch does not. I know he played at NC as was taken with the 2nd pick in the draft and is already on his third team. Looking at the stats right now in career and I would say he has more upside because he is younger and was in some pretty abysmal offenses. Looking at the stats and success I would say Derek is more productive and a better player, which is why he will get significantly more money and opportunity to be a starting QB this year.
  8. I am not trying to hop in the middle of anything, but I just had to say this is a very poor way to do player evaluations and comparisons. You are in imagination land with all the assumptions and expectations you are using to extrapolate these numbers. I don't want to just blast what you say with no constructive criticism so i will add a little bit of context as to why I personally think this is a horrible evaluation on your part. You cannot add attempts and invent whole cloth new numbers for a player. There is a reason that some QBs throw for 30 attempts a game and others for 15. They have different skill sets and abilities and play within different schemes. Play callers and offenses are structured around players and are not just plug and play. You can't get "90% of production if he threw more" when a QB has a drastically different skill set and in very different offenses. The problem is that the coaches don't trust Trubisky to throw more because of his limitations. Any numbers driven comparison HAS to be coupled with player evaluation. In this case Carr is a significantly better QB than Trubisky and you don't have to go further than how the league evaluates and what they have made in contract and opportunity over their respective careers. I do think your strategy of paying for a low cost veteran instead of breaking the bank for Derrick Carr is a good one, but you don't need to invent numbers to "Prove" that is the best strategy. Just Say Carr would be overpaid for what he is and what he will command in the market and assigning that salary to that level of player would hurt the Carolina's ability to compete for a long time.
  9. I just don't get with a vastly improved Online people wouldn't want to see Darnold after the last 4 weeks. Baker is severely limited physically and is missing wide open players. Having PJ or Sam immediately gets 5-7 plays extra on offence from tipped passes alone. That's with a clean pocket. I counted 3 passes today where he just overthrew or threw behind open receivers. He's too slow to get a first down with his feet and doesn't do anything better than average except for his "competitiveness". He's literally a walk-on athlete because of his physical limitations. Panthers never should have traded for him. Keep our draft capital and salvage that 4th. Play anyone other than Baker.
  10. Honestly, our second O against their ones looked ok. Moved the ball to their side of the field multiple times. They had a lot of drops and not enough RAC which will be significantly better with CMC and DJ. Our 2nd team defence looked really good. Run fits were much improved and our secondary played well. Our second team LBs we're the weak link, but overall played serviceable against their 1s. I'm happy. The 2nd half was anemic, but 80% of those players will not make the 53, and the other 20 are special teamers and practice squad. Overall I'm happy with play, save the 3rd team line play. Both O and D Line we're just manhandled in the 4th, but those are all roster cuts anyways.
  11. How many games did Daley start last year? He got absolutely beat consistently by undrafted players tonight.
  12. Can you Chromecast to your TV? Thinking about getting it since I cut the cord on all TV and only really miss football.
  13. This guy has also been with the panthers for 3 years now (2 on practice squad 1 on roster). He knows all the WR positions, all the special teams positions and is a possession receiver. This is a special teams and depth signing behind cotchery. It is only a 1 year deal most likely for vet minimum. They can cut him during training camp and have zero cap hit most likely. This is a bottom of the roster signing and a decent one at that in my opinion.
