You really don’t understand at all do you?

Minshew makes less than 1M for two seasons. TB would cost 8M new money to keep. Depending on what the Panthers had to give up it would be very beneficial.

Next years Salary Cap? Absolutely insane?
Toomers replied to thunderraiden's topic in Carolina Panthers
Should have had around 100M this year, when players are getting underpaid and very few teams had a lot of space. -
What was the boldest move the franchise DIDN'T make

Then it would have been really tough if Herbert would have fell to 7 and Panthers fans had to watch the team pass on him because they just gave a backup QB 34M guaranteed. -

Not hiring a real GM in 2017. Instead hired a GM who had already trashed the team once. Joe Thomas is a good one. They knew the 1st rounder they would be giving up was going to be a very late 1st. Rumor was CLE wanted an extra pick. Should have thrown a 3-4th at them. 3 year left on his deal at a very reasonable 8M/yr. Instead paid 25M to Matt Kalil to suck for a year then quit on the team. -
To Sign or not to Sign - Bridgewater vs Draft. DRAFT
Toomers replied to CPcavedweller's topic in Carolina Panthers
Considering the rookie salary cap didn’t start until 2011, those would be only relevant years. Before that, the top picks were too expensive. The Colts with Luck was obvious. Three straight division titles followed. Browns in 2017 and that roster is loaded now. Dolphins already got to 10-6 the first year after. Jimmy Johnson Cowboys tanked his first year and won 3 SBs there after -
To Sign or not to Sign - Bridgewater vs Draft. DRAFT
Toomers replied to CPcavedweller's topic in Carolina Panthers
So it’s your opinion that the FO made the correct decision in spending 80M of unnecessary cap space to be be in a better position to win 5-6 games? What if you trade a player at the trade deadline for a pick? Is that tanking? It hurts your team immediately. Do all the remaining players on the team boycott? Since you know so much about the culture of an NFL team from your vast experiences on the “juice-box” circuit. That’s what’s disingenuous about all this. -
No, like others, we perfectly understand that you don’t understand the differences in what you’re stating. Not using all your resources in a given year is nothing near throwing games. I’m not the only one that doesn’t understand your opinion. Seems many on here are having trouble with the goalposts moving in your theories. What is it anyhow? Is your theory that a team should put every available resource into to winning the next game and nothing else?

So it is better for the future of the team to use all your cap space, lose comp picks, and just repeat the same problem every year to finish with 5-7 wins then taking one year to set up the team for many years in the future. The Dolphins don’t seem to have any trouble with the teams “chemistry” and commitment. Much like last summer when this was told to you and others , repeatedly. -
What did Hurney do to, or with, TB?

It will actually be 28M if he stays. Like you said, it’s starting to sound like last summer. -
It’s because you, like many, don’t understand the difference in throwing a football game and the “tanking(rebuilding)” the Dolphins did. It’s about not using all available resources to win 5 games instead of 2. We saw what happens when a coach tries that. The Dolphins traded or cut everyone with value, accumulated picks and cap space, and played hard in every game. Now they are loaded after one rebuild year. The Panthers spent 80M extra in cap space to finish with the same record.

Thank you for proving my point. McShay...lol. And comparing one small part of Jones game, like he did, is not the same as you calling him a mobile version of two of the best QBs ever. The difference is what happened once they decided to throw the ball. One guy had a great arm and the fastest release in NFL history. The other underthrows deep balls on a consistent basis. But you should be ecstatic. Your team just traded the farm for him. You got your man. Congrats. -

Was there anything after he compared Jones to Dan Marino? I stopped there -
If that’s your point, you failed miserably. Last 20 SBs. 40 spots. B. Johnson, R Gannon, Delhomme, McNabb, Hasselbeck, Grossman, Kaepermick, Flacco, Foles, Goff. That’s 10 out of 40 non HOFers. That’s 75% of places occupied by an HOF QB. And only 3 won.
-
CAn you show me where this was part of your ridiculous point to begin with? Eli(2), Peyton(3), Ben(3), Rodgers, Cam, Grossman, Flacco, Ryan, Goff, Mahomes. Why is a QB who retired in 1999 on that original list. Maybe you should just move on to your next alt because you have ruined this one out of the gate.
-
Neither were Wilson, Farve, Brees. When did that become part of it? No mention of where drafted until now. What’s next?
-
None played 20 years. Less than 50 combined. Peyton had 3. Ben had 3. Brady had 10. He not a HOFer. How many QBs started a SB that you don’t consider HOF. Since the criteria is whatever you can make up, maybe we can compare the differences in the two and really take care of your point.
-
You took out Brady, both Manning’s, and Ben R. Off a claim of HOF QBs(one is in) with questions about those. Is Brady and the others not just as much “HOFers” as those you listed. Or did they just ruin your theory which is still hard to follow.
-
I thought about that after I posted...LOL Forgot how old I am. Young definitely was. By then Elway was at a point he wasn’t. Matt Ryan is a statue. That system has produced with many QBs. He adjusts to the QBs talents. You were right that Plummer had a great 2005.
-
So Jake Plummer over an MVP and what should’ve been a SB victory with Matt Ryan. Or if we’re counting his Dad’s teams, Steve Young 92-94 was his resume builder and got him the DEN job and b2b SBs with Elway. All very different type QBs and still managed to get the best out of all them. I can’t roll with the “Snake” Jr.
