Rhule not on list of coaches speaking at Combine
Toomers replied to mc52beast's topic in Carolina Panthers
That’s because you haven’t got a clue. Contractual and 5 years of working together while sharing responsibility for Shanahan/LYnch. Here’s a recent article from the Baltimore newspaper(legit writers) that doesn’t mention Harbaugh’s name at all. Only Decosta. And I’ve been a Steelers fan for 46 years. Tomlin doesn’t have full roster control and doesn’t really want it. That’s not how the Steelers work. Especially since Colbert is still there and running the GM search. But hey, it’s obvious…..right? https://www.baltimoresun.com/sports/analysis/preston/bs-sp-preston-decosta-impact-players-20220208-xniklm66nbfrvg5fevqgzykwqa-story.html -

I’ve got a contract and 5 years of sharing responsibility. You make up a story and claim it’s true “because you think so. Why did I get proof when all I had to do was make up anything I wanted? I’ll stick with facts. You call Disney. -

Whatever helps you think you have a clue. Never let facts get in the way of a theory. -

Doesn’t seem that way. About as shared control as it gets. https://www.nbcsports.com/bayarea/49ers/kyle-shanahan-best-equipped-make-critical-49ers-nfl-draft-choice?amp Contractually, Lynch has control of the 49ers’ 90-man roster, which includes trades, draft and free agency. Shanahan has final say over the cuts from 90 players to the regular-season limit of 53 players. CEO Jed York has plenty of experience with coaches and general managers who clashed. Therefore, Shanahan and Lynch each have a form of veto power. York’s main priority was to find a coach-GM pairing that can avoid the dysfunction that plagued the organization in the years before they arrived together in Santa Clara. -

False. Only Belichek(and Rhule) have full roster control. The others do not. -
If we draft a QB, I want Carson Strong
Toomers replied to Ricky Spanish's topic in Carolina Panthers
And to be fair, medical recovery from knee injuries makes progress every year. His could be shot. Who really knows. But he recovered in the 6-month side of “6-12 months” on the second one. Had a scope which is nothing. And didn’t miss a game his last 2 years. To say his knee can’t hold up is a guess just like the speculation from the Doc. Mobility can be an asset, but it’s far from a requirement for success in an NFL QB. -

Really? Just ACL tears. And people that thought he wouldn’t recover were speculating. Right? An actual Dr. thinks he has a good shot of being fine long-term, but they are speculating, while just saying 3 surgeries has him doomed as a fact. It’s a risk either way, but not a certainty. How many games has he missed? -

So did Thomas Davis. And much more serious ones at that. -
8M of his base salary for 2022 is guaranteed. Which is part of the guaranteed 20.5M he got for the extension. If they could trade him they don’t owe it to him. New team would. Along with his 2.8M roster bonus when he on the other teams opening day roster. Now if he were cut, they would have to pay the 8M and the 7.7M of signing bonus.
-
It’s true. Always has been. That’s not the problem. Finding a team that wants him at 13M for next year is. Much less getting anything more than a set of steak knives in return. Plus the team is still eating at least 7.7M in dead money for not one snap more than they had him for before the extension.

Sure. 2.5 carries a game(counting kneel downs) is comparable to Cam. -

You mean the entire last decade? Because it’s been that long since he could move enough to avoid a pass rush. Brady, Manning(s), Rivers, Ryan, Flacco and Brees all seemed to do fine without running around before they threw the ball. -
The void years are the 4 extra years(placeholders) so they could pay very little for Reddick and Paradis in 2021. Their contracts voided on about 2/10/22 and the whole total is due(HR-4M and MP 8.2M) towards 2022 cap. That ends it. Nothing else. But both sites make it confusing by amounts showing up in 2023. That isn’t how it works. Like dead cap, it’s due when contract ends/cut/trade. As for Darnold and RA, nothing besides traveling back in time and using common sense. That was your salary cap “ninja” at his finest once again. They sure don’t want to prolong those disasters.

It’s hard to be this wrong, but if anyone has proven it’s possible, you have over the years. They will be crippled and restructuring for years just to make a average, at best, roster. Just as the writer for OTC outlines in his article. Not too mention the Panthers only have 2 players they can realistically restructure, in Moton and Shaq(and he’s questionable). We won’t even start discussing the laughable comment about Reddick being good against the run…lol. Or whatever being able to play in the field means? https://overthecap.com/looking-at-the-saints-2022-salary-cap/ Of course this defers more to 2023 where the Saints currently have the 2nd worst cap situation in the NFL but the way the team has to work is to just go year to year until they flush more of the players out of the system who have been restructured over and over through the years. This is probably going to be reminiscent of the Saints 2014 to 2016 run where they were always top 5 in dead money and went 7-9 three years straight, except now they need to do that without Payton and Drew Brees on the team.

Godwin was on a franchise tag. Not a long term deal. That 18M would be his absolute floor. And he would be crazy to take it with the Panthers not knowing what sort of QB he might play with for the next couple years. Hard to justify giving RA 2/29.5M with one good season and not giving DJ 20M. If Burns makes another Pro Bowl, his 5th year option is 20M. Restructure Moton and his annual hit will be 24M. Shaq is at 18M already. If I’m DJ my holdout starts now so I can get to a new team before the draft. What situation would be worse for him to boost his value for FA in 2023. Or sign with the team that just traded for him. I don’t know if the Panthers should trade him, but I do know he has better options elsewhere. And if they don’t want to give him 20M/yr, trade him now while his value is still there.

Trade Down or Trade Away Player(s)
Toomers replied to DaveThePanther2008's topic in Carolina Panthers
It’s absolutely correct. The thread was discussing trading CMC. You not only left any of his relevant guaranteed base salary figures out, you posted numbers that were not relevant if traded. A called others silly when you were wrong. As you admitted. May or may not? Let’s see…. Tre Boston contract being stupid Acquiring Okung and paying him when he didn’t want to play anymore. Signing Teddy with 34M guaranteed at 3/63M Weatherly, Seth Roberts, Whitehead, Keeping KK Short at 13M 2021 Darnold trade Darnold extension. And it’s bad no matter what he does now. You think if he was a FA that they, or any team, would pay him more than 5M(if that) to even be on the team this year? That’s at least 13.8M in lost value already. That’s bad. Sign Erving and Elf in the first morning of FA. Passing on a QB or Slater for Horn. Giving Robbie A. an extension after drafting a WR with 2nd pick for 30M. Moving Chinn to S Thats a lot of hits with the only miss being that I understood giving CMC his deal. I would have traded him then at his highest value, but didn’t blame them for not. We can fact check every one of them. And you obviously do care if I’m here because you specifically asked why I was here. In this thread. Anything else? Not my fault that pointing out reality to the echo chamber of hope is so troubling to you. And the respect I’m shown by your fellow fans is laughable. I’ve been called every name in the book. Simply for pointing out factual numbers. Just like you have. It’s why there’s only 10 or so posters on here that a person can have a reasonable discussion with. So save it. Been here awhile and seen all sides of everyone. You included. -

You posted incorrect information that directly contradicted his information, exact contract details, and knowledge. The details are important. And you called everyone out while you didn’t understand the details yourself. And on to step 2 of denial. The why are you here is right out of the butthurt Huddle playbook. Last I checked, Cam was on this team at the end of the season. And countless posters said I would be gone after predicting that Rhule’s tenure would be a disaster. I was a Steelers troll for suggesting exercising Darnolds option was a colossal mistake. Should I leave for being correct? -
Most of the 3rd round picks are going to teams for minority hires. Not to mention, he’s a situational player in a 4 man front, or a liability if played too much. I don’t see him getting near a contract number that would garner a 3rd.

I’m devastated…lol Was I wrong. Did you not call his take silly then conveniently leave out the main points that were relevant as you stated your own false statements? Let me guess. You enjoyed them until I said you were wrong about something. That’s how the Huddle works. If you want someone to pat you on the head when you’re wrong…look elsewhere. -
Trade Down or Trade Away Player(s)
Toomers replied to DaveThePanther2008's topic in Carolina Panthers
His base salary is guaranteed at 8.1M for 2022. The team trading for him would have to pay that. The remaining 18M would be dead cap that hits immediately unless after June 1 which would split it over two years. Which doesn’t really matter because it’s gone before free agency next year anyhow. -

I see you’re still trying to teach algebra to cats. How can someone not understand the simple math involved with the salary cap? And, as you said, the site does the work for you and they still have no clue. As they call you wrong and silly for being 100% correct. -
This is 100% true. Does it to me every time.
-
They were 7-9 and 6-10 the two years before Colbert. They have had one losing season since. And there is no after Colbert to speak of. /END
-
That proved what I said. Except owners taking credit for Colberts work. You really believe that Colbert didn’t do the leg work and research on Tomlin. And recommend him to them? I can find 50 articles saying Hurney was making decisions in Rhule’s first year. What was actually true. Or Hurney signing all those contracts in 2010. But a Panther fan knows JR told him to. Random articles don’t dispute 20 years of actual results. The Rooneys, except Art Sr, passed on Marino when he fell in their laps. I wouldn’t trust them to pick anyone.
