They would be lucky to get a conditional 7th round pick for him.

Calvin Ridley suspended for the 2022 season
Toomers replied to Mr. Scot's topic in Carolina Panthers
Retired before 50 and own a business I got multiple offers over 100M for in the past 6 months. How horrible it is to be me. Sorry it doesn’t compare fo your stock boy position at Walmart. I made more betting on under Win total for the Panthers than you did working. -

And this is the response of someone who the closest they ever got to a football field is playing skin flute in the band. I heard the speech every year for 5 seasons from Bobby Wallace, Pat Dye, and Terry Bowden. First meeting every summer. Don’t bet on football. Period. There is no path back from it. Every NFL player will tell you the same thing. But I’m sure you know better with your Pro and College experience. It’s the difference between people that know, and people who think they know. Want to guess which one you are? -

It’s the absolute #1 rule told to every player beyond High school, much less the Pros, in any sport that can be bet on. This is completely different than off-field issues. You destroy public confidence in the integrity of the outcomes, in any way, and a sport will crumble. Ridley should never play again, especially since he bet on his own teams outcome. And with much of gambling being legalized, they have to come down hard on any player in any sport. -

Previous restructuring is why Shaq had that 19M cap hit this year. They have been kicking it down the road since they got here. And nothing about the salary cap management of Samir and this front office has been good. It’s embarrassingly bad. Where do you think all that cap space disappeared to. Why is a consistent 5 win team having to restructure just to field a below average team? A team picking in the top 10 shouldn’t have to kick money down the road. Contenders should. He maneuvered 19M to a useless QB. 20M guaranteed to a WR who forgot how to catch. 15M guaranteed to 2 of the worst OL in the NFL on the first day of FA. 31M to Teddy for one year. Boston, 9.5M for one year. Weatherly 8M for one year, Okung 13M for 6-7games. KK Short -13M for 3 games. Roberts, Apple, Whitehead, and how many more throwaways? The term “expert” is awful cheap to acquire these days.

He already has that money.

It’s the same thing. The minute the player is no longer under contract with the team, the full amount hits. Even OTC includes it in dead cap totals now.

That’s because they already paid him that money long ago. The restructuring of Paradis caused them to have to use voidable years to fit him in last year. That’s why he has a cap hit THIS year while not playing here.

Shaq’s 5M puts it at 31M. Take off 3M for Thomas’ first year 5-6M for draft class 3M or more for practice squad 1.5M for 52-53rd players. Now it’s back to about 18M. Anyone that goes on IR has to be replaced Need some room to operate during season. For a team with the worst QB situation in the NFL. As well as OL. So how much help is that going to bring when every team with more assets wants these players as well. And how many will want to come play for a lame duck HC that mortgaging the teams future. That’s where the team is at right now.
