That's true, but Ginn is established here whereas he wasn't in AZ so he and Brown both went in as new players in competition. Here, as you said, Rivera likes his vets and Cam has a rapport with Ted. I'm going to assume you meant Ealy instead of Alexander. Don't think we will be seeing Frank back around here.

At WR, assuming we would take a speedster, he probably is behind Ginn in the pecking order for a year then takes over in 2017 when Ginn is a free agent. Obviously they would see the field a decent amount but probably not much more than a RB backing up Stewart. DEs usually aren't start right away players especially where we would be taking them. He would be a rotational player in 2016. Basically at any position other than SS and P, our 1st round pick is a rotational player who will turn into a starter in 2017. It's similar to Shaq although he was technically a starter he only played 30% of the snaps and doesn't figure to see a big uptick until TD retires. There are plenty of starter spots that figure to open up in 2017(Norman at CB, CJ at DE, Ginn at WR, Stew at RB, possibly Oher at OT and Kalil at C could decide to retire) but not really much for 2016. We will likely re-sign a couple of those but if we pick a guy in the 1st at one of those positions then you can expect the corresponding vet to be playing their last year here.

Was that Derrick Henry 5 yards deep in LSU's backfield all night tackling Fournette within a second of him getting the handoff? Was Leonard Fournette the one getting blown away by the Alabama OL and missing tackles? Citing a head to head matchup between two RBs as reasoning for anything is seriously stupid.

2016 Panthers Schedule - Thoughts and Musings
Bartin replied to Jeremy Igo's topic in Carolina Panthers
Really? I think we got one of the best schedules we could realistically hope for. ACCCG and Belk Bowl means we have to have a lot of road games to end the year. -

"Will Fuller workout Panthers" search on twitter only brings back results from 2014 talking about Kyle Fuller so I'm inclined to say you're misremembering. -

Listenbee is a track star who plays football and that is evident when you watch him play. Fast as all hell but it really doesn't look like he has any idea what he's doing and he is pretty bad at finding the ball on deep routes. 4th or 5th rounder who needs some work, but has some solid potential. His hands and size aren't a big concern which is different than most pure track guys, -

Especially since Bowers problems were like all medical. His knees were done before he even stepped foot on an NFL field. -

Technically we already have their 5th for this year. They traded it for Brandon Boykin lol. They don't have a 6th either but I can't remember where that went. -

That's pretty typical for every team in the NFL especially when it comes to visits to the team facilities, but when we've met with or privately worked out every early round pick in the last couple years then logically it would seem that we are using them for more than just that. at the least we would have met with him at the combine or his pro day because no one is using a 1st round pick on a guy they've never even talked to. -

Our 3rd round pick would definitely get us to 25, our 4th would be a stretch. Our 1st and 2nd for their 1st and 3rd is another possibility to move up a 5-7 spots. -

Does anyone know if we've met with or had an interview with Hunter Henry yet or at the least have one scheduled in the future? I know not every visit or interview gets reported so it may not be for sure even if it hasn't been reported, but since Gettleman has been here we have been pretty well linked ahead of time with the guy we end up drafting in the 1st and 2nd rounds and I've heard nothing about Hunter and the Panthers. -

DJ Humphries was going to be the Panthers pick last year until the Cardinals took him the pick before us. -
Really? I'm not a huge fan of Henry and it's pretty well established that I'm not a fan of Cravens for us and I would be pretty happy with that. Tapper, Higbee and Peake in 3, 4 and 5 would be awesome.

Something weird is going on with Lawson. I don't know if it is his shoulder or what, but his stock is sliding. Out of nowhere right around the combine in-the-know mock drafters started putting him at the bottom of the 1st and putting Dodd near the top 10 without really any explanation at all. In-the-know refers to the guys in the media that actually have connections with scouts and GMs and their mock drafts typically reflect what they hear from their connections rather than what their opinion on the player is. Jeremiah, McShay and Mayock are examples of those guys. When something mysterious, like Lawson dropping and Dodd rising without explanation, happens in their mocks it's usually something to pay attention to.

Like sign him to an offer sheet interested? That would be a bold move.
-
Someone probably would have if he wasn't tagged. Janoris Jenkins got $12M/year and he's only 10 months younger, an enormous idiot and not nearly as good. Yes, the Giants way overpaid and it was a stupid deal, but all it takes is one team for a guy to get a ridiculous contract.
-
Ah ok, yeah I misread what you meant. Cassell did sign his tender and then got traded so you're right about that. As for your scenario, that's not really possible since once the offer sheet is signed the two 1sts are locked in as the compensation. The tendering team, I believe, has to trade the player's rights to another team for there to be negotiated compensation and I don't know that has ever happened but I believe that's what we tried to do with Peppers.
-
Yeah, it's the same thing.
-
Yes. The Patriots franchised Matt Cassell after the year Brady got hurt and traded him for a 2nd(plus maybe more) to the Chiefs.
-
It is, but only to the extent that money can be fully guaranteed in NFL contracts. There is standard language in every contract that allows the team not to pay a player if they injure themselves outside of football doing non-approved activities. For example, riding a motorcycle and definitely not allowed and getting injured while riding one would give the team the right not to pay the player. Even tearing an ACL while playing basketball gives the team the right to withhold guaranteed salary. Blowing your hand off with fireworks also qualifies. Hell, I'm not even sure the Chiefs had to pay Eric Berry while he was receiving cancer treatment even though they did anyway because that would be one of the most tone deaf, PR disastrous decisions they could possibly make, but they still had the option. Now if they were lifting weights or participating in team activities and got injured then the team is obligated to pay the entire amount.
