  1. The difference in targets between what Brandt has and what PFF has is likely due to throwaway passes. If the QB throws a ball out of bounds over Perriman's head then that is usually reported as a pass intended for Perriman in play-by-play reports and official stats even though the actual intent was to throw it away. PFF does their own stat keeping and doesn't count those as targets.
  2. Drop rate is based on whether it's a catchable ball. 95 targets, 58 catchable, 50 receptions, 8 drops. 8/58 = ~14%
  3. No thanks. He's a year away from even stepping on the field outside of 3rd and long situations only.
  4. It depends if we pick a guard draft obviously but I could definitely see him being the odd man out if he doesn't bring it in the preseason. It does save some cap room to dump him so that is a consideration for Gettleman.
  5. Is Silatolu considered a vet? I can see him getting the axe in camp.
  6. I don't really want to draft the guy because he can't catch but if he goes top 25 and pushes prospects down the board to us that'd be great.
  7. The Saints also can't afford Jennings but if it is actually Brees pushing to get him to New Orleans then he might get talked into a minor pay cut to facilitate it.
  8. The consensus will probably not end up at 4.15, but someone having him that low even with a really itchy trigger finger means it will end up in the 4.2s
  9. OK nvm Charles Robinson ‏@CharlesRobinson 47s48 seconds ago Whaaaaat. Paging all WR needy #NFL teams. #Browns #Bears #Raiders #Jaguars RT @Eric_Edholm One scout had Breshad Perriman at a 4.15 ... WOW. that's insane. hello 1st round.
  10. I'd wait to hear that 40 time from another source before going with it. Odds are that it's going to end up closer to 4.40 than 4.26. Still fast as hell for his size though.
  11. The issue with CJ is extending him into the years where he will be 31+ and how much that will cost. Are you willing to pay him $12M per year in 2017? Probably not. $10M? Possibly but that's still high for a 31 year old DE. $6-8M per year sounds fine on a 3 year deal with low guarantees but is CJ going to accept that? I don't think he would and he might try and test the open market since that in all likelihood would be his final NFL contract. There has to be a point where you have to be willing to let a player go particularly one on the wrong side of 30 or you end up with a mess like Hurney left us in.
  12. Marc Sessler‏@MarcSesslerNFL Payton says he and Brees had 'dialogue' about a 'free-agent receiver that I know he worked with at the Pro Bowl.' Hmmm.... #Saints That would be Jennings. Only FA WR Brees has played with in the pro bowl.
  13. CJ's contract isn't up for two more years. That gives them plenty of time to evaluate whether or not Ealy can be the answer moving forward.
  14. That's certainly an argument and although it's not one I completely subscribe to, I do understand it. I'd love to have the guy back for a couple more years, but not at top level LB money. Time and time again NFL players(QB's excepted) drop off ridiculously fast at around 32-34 regardless of how much time they've had off. The Steelers are practically begging Polamalu to retire at age 33. "Better to get rid of a guy a year early rather than a year late." It sucks but you don't want to be stuck with a bunch of money tied up in a guy who can't play anymore. If he is asking for top level money then I think Gettleman has to let him go.
  15. 32 years old. How many years do you realistically think he has left to play at a high level? There is a very high probability he drops off sharply after 2015 which is his last year under contract. How much are you willing to spend a TD extension when there is a strong possibility he is a shell of his former self during it?
  16. The problem with Alabama CB's is that Saban teaches a shuffle so they can always have eyes on the QB as their technique instead of a traditional backpedal. It has some advantages but no NFL uses that and instead will want them to convert to a traditional backpedal which is very different and takes a lot of adjusting. It lets them be in a position to be physical with a receiver beyond 5 yards past the LoS which is legal in college but not in the NFL. They are asked to do completely different things. That's not something that really matters that much for safeties so I don't see that being as big a deal as it is for corners. Barron was just a bust and I don't think that had anything to do with the school he came from.
  17. Yep which is why Oher and Ginn and potentially Jennings are nice signings because they don't count in the equation since they were all released. Also, Jerry must have finally cashed in a favor to get Hixon to qualify and have Webb not. Hixon retired before the training camp even started and Webb while mostly playing special teams was actually a contributing member of the roster.
  18. All the top brass is in Phoenix and we are working out our potential 1st round pick? Something doesn't add up. Why not schedule this at a different time?
  19. Thanks. So all four of our top 2 round picks under Gettleman have been worked out by the Panthers. That seems a pretty good way to narrow potential early picks down. It's probably not 100% that we take a guy who has visited but it's a good starting point.
  20. Ok, so we definitely had Kelvin, Kony and Kawann in for visits/workouts prior to the draft. I couldn't find anything definitive on Star but I did see a pre draft report that the Panthers were showing significant interest in him. His medical issue could have complicated that process before the draft and the reporting on who we had in is kind of spotty. So it may be that we can narrow down our early picks to guys we've had in for visits or are otherwise showing a lot of interest in.
  21. We definitely had Kelvin in for a visit last year. Anyone remember if we had Star, Kawann or Kony in for pre-draft visits?
  22. Pretty sure Eskin is a universally regarded moron
  23. Yes, he needs to play in 10 games to qualify so we'd get nothing.
