There's a competition in my head for which early round WR I want the least between Sammie Coates and Devin Funchess. Funchess has the lead but it's pretty close.
-
They are about the same. Lee had some major durability concerns which is why many feel he fell to the 2nd round. Those concerns showed up in the NFL as he missed 3 games early in the season last year and didn't get going until the end of the year. Agholor is also a little faster and little smoother running routes, but Lee is a little more dangerous with the ball in his hands.

USC WR Nelson Agholor has private visit with Panthers today

BTW it should be noted that this is private workout and not a visit to Panthers facilities by Agholor. Proehl is in Tampa running him through drills and probably doing some whiteboard work and film study. -

Strong is one of the most polarizing prospects I can remember. There are well respected football guys who just love him and think he is a surefire top 15 player and there are well respected football guys that think he is wildly overrated and shouldn't even be considered until the 3rd round. I lean more towards the latter camp, but I really understand the argument from both points of view. -

Eagles have worked him out twice according to Aaron Wilson, @RavensInsider, and he is as close to a Maclin clone you are going to get and they just lost him. It's definitely a possibility and I wouldn't be stunned to see him gone at 20, but the word is that Chip really prefers to have big WR's that stretch the field vertically so I can see Perriman being a legit possibility for them in the 1st as well. If Chip goes with another position in the 1st and Agholor is available in the 2nd then I think we would have to move ahead of Philly if we really want him. -
Here's a link to his record breaking Nebraska game from last year. I counted 2 or 3 read option runs from the shotgun. All of the rest were either single back or I formation with the QB under center. I've only watched a games on him but this is consistent with what I remember from all of them. http://draftbreakdown.com/video/melvin-gordon-vs-nebraska-2014/

I can think of another piece...
-
Umm, Gordon played in a man blocking, power rushing scheme with a QB under center in college. There was very little zone read in Wisconsin's offense.
-
Probably the exact same offense in fact. Ruffin McNeill coached under Mike Leach and Dave Nichol, the OC, is a disciple of Sonny Dykes who came from the Leach system at Texas Tech.

The 26 Draft Prospect that will be at the Draft
Bartin replied to nctarheel0619's topic in Carolina Panthers
Donovan Smith is definitely a surprise. Only time I've ever seen him mocked in the 1st is in the PFT mock that was released a couple days ago which came with this statement: "This mock draft was compiled with the direct assistance of someone who gets paid plenty of money to scout players for an NFL team. So, basically, if you think it stinks, blame him." I guess teams like him a whole lot more than the media does and word hasn't gotten out about him yet since the invites are done in consultation with the teams. -

Some is and some isn't. Tavon Austin was a fast riser originally thought to be in the 2nd round range that ended up going in the top 10. -

Happens every year now since they started inviting 30+ people to attend the draft rather than 8-10 they used to. Kony was there last year and despite waiting until pick #60 said he would have done the same again. -
The 4.56 was run on turf. The 4.4 was run on an indoor track due to rain at the ECU pro day. You add a tenth for it being on a track which is much faster and add .5-.10 because pro days are hand timed which are always faster than the electronic timing done at the combine. He's a 4.55 guy and there is a noticeable difference between a 4.4 and a 4.56 on the field.

Nah, we're getting Cooper! -
Hardy is actually an average route runner and runs a very limited tree. He uses his ridiculous quickness and change of direction to create separation.
-
Or all of them did and he wants to decide after taking all his visits.
-
Spikes really makes no sense at all. He's a 2 down LB who is slow and can only play in the middle. Our MLB spot is somewhat occupied and requires the ability to cover well. He's probably the best run stuffing LB in the NFL and can be a stud in the right situation. It's just not in Charlotte. He'd also be far more expensive than Trusnick and I'm pretty sure he doesn't play special teams.
-
Pretty sure he lives in Charlotte in the offseason. Been in town since March.
-
Around $3M of his 2015 salary became guaranteed if he was on the roster at the beginning of the league year so that would have been a major factor in the decision to release him instead of giving a shot in camp.
-
Jags coach said he would to get a veteran WR to help mentor their 3 promising rookies from last year and Jennings fits the bill. They have the ability offer him the most money as well so it seems a natural fit since he took the money last time.

Yes. Without much question Locker had the talent to be an above average starter and because of the importance of the QB position that is top 10 worthy.- 32 replies

He has major drop issues. He had 19 last year according to PFF which put him as 11th worst among draftable WR's for drop rate and the most overall. He's an intriguing prospect though. I suspect some team that thinks they can fix that takes a flier on him a little earlier than most think he should go.
