  1. This is surprising, especially now that they seem to be shopping Trey in favor of Purdy.
  2. Good stuff in this thread. Well worth reading. Building the camaraderie in the staff stands out to me. A cohesive staff that operates on mutual respect has a very good chance of exceeding expectations of success through collaboration rather than through the “tried and true” competition mindset that absolutely permeates high performance organizations.
  3. I think that’s probably true. They won’t “decide anything until after all 30 visits are complete. They have zero reason to commit to anything yet. Is there a front runner? Probably. Are some of the staff split? Probably. The decision makers don’t have to make the decision yet…so they won’t.
  4. I agree with this but I think more people should look at Flutie (5’9” 180lbs) as they only and best comparison. You already pointed out that the small QBs of today are bigger than Young and play differently. I think Young is a better version in every way than Flutie who basically never really got injured and played for a long time and had a great career (mostly in the CFL). I think that’s the best argument FOR Young and discussing his size from the perspective that it’s NOT a big concern…or not a bigger concern than anyone else.
  5. You can’t say you want to see stats instead of gut feelings to make an argument and then acknowledge that there are no stats bc no one has done what he’s doing. There’s been one player that is the same size as Young that I can think of. Doug Flutie. Flutie NFL stats aren’t great bc he didn’t always start. He played in 91 games, has 107 sacks. However, I couldn’t find any notes of any major injuries. If you add his CFL and USFL stats, he has an impressive career and was also a running threat. He threw a lot of picks so arguably Young is probably better at everything. So I think Young people should hang their hats on Doug Flutie (mentor to Brees) as the only guy who is absolutely tiny and played QB. I found a groin injury during training camp and that was basically it.
  6. Remember when we traded up to get our QB of the future? I was so excited to get that QB from Notre Dame.
  7. It’s important to remember that NFL players are taxed based on where (what’re state they are physically in) they play on Sunday. So while it can still be a significant amount of money, it’s less than what most think. If that were a significant factor in negotiations, I think it would be brought up more. But it’s also the individual player and what they value most.
  8. It’sa good chart. I think a lot of people aren’t really concerned about the height per se vice he’s small. The he’s small concern is singularly about injury and not about anything else related to football. I think Young can do everything on the football field. What I’m not sure he can do is survive. Can anyone be taken out by injury? Yup. But who’s more likely to feel the effects of giant men trying to kill you? I would think a little guy. Having said all that. I’d be really happy to have Young and I want his brain in anyone else’s body lol.
  9. Every time I watch these breakdowns about picking apart defenses and the “if then” decision making process that is required, I’m reminded that I know so little about football and my opinions about football should be judged accordingly lol.
  10. Yeah he’s not getting past the Ravens. Dude would be sick w Jackson. They need a WR like we did when Cam took the law firm to the Super Bowl. Actually they need a WR more than we did.
  11. I’d be shocked if he’s there at 39. As an example, I know he is a top WR prospect. If I know who he is then he’s likely very well known by people smart at football.
  12. We need to put together back to back winning seasons before we can really be upset about having any street cred. That will be a start.
  13. I’m on board as long as it’s not awful. The uniforms are pretty tight so it might be dangerous to mess with them. But I’m sure the fan base will be upset either way lol.
  14. My entire football fandom has been rooting for teams with a 4-3 defense. I need many of these threads and discussions. My very in depth knowledge in football (trust me bro) is lacking in 3-4 mechanics and needs. Good thread.
  15. Someone should start a thread about which QB is the best this year.
  16. I’m a Stroud guy (I think) but I like the mentals of Young better. But the physicals of CJ. I wish they were one dude lol. When I heard that Reich had been a preacher for a bit after playing football that got me thinking about Rhule and just ugh. Then I heard CJ going out of his way to talk about God and then Reich talking about how the 2 of them talked about faith etc. all of that is completely harmless and perfectly normal…or it’s not. I don’t know. But then I hear Bryce talk and I’m thinking I’d rather have this guy…but he’s tiny and gonna get killed. I just hope that the decision is made for the right reasons and not for anything outside of football. Neither are bad guys off the field so that’sa non issue. Maybe I’m going crazy. Idk
  17. Honestly, the entire draft process has this vibe and always has. I try to push it to the back of my mind.
  18. I’m not saying “hey DJ isn’t on the team anymore, why is he saying that?” I’m saying “did this dude just say DJ would fit as a slot receiver under Reich?” I think the Indy fan is knowledgeable but that struck me as…idk…like what?
  19. Did dude just say DJ Moore would fit best as our slot receiver under Reich? Did I hear that correctly?
  20. That’s enough to sign OBJ or someone
  21. This and then this again. All of this. It’s this.
  22. My football knowledge and prowess is well documented around here… …everyone knows I’m an idiot. That said, I wanted Stroud but am warming to Young. I’ll be excited for either and I recognize I know less than @Jon Snow
