  1. Hey, it's May the official month of Annointing. Besides all that will shake out in camp and preseason. Also him being the #1 doesn't mean he's better. It's just a different position. See my earlier post about X and Y receiver.
  2. I think Bortles is ok and could turn out pretty good. The Jags are just cursed. But I agree. We beat them with him or without him. Just would rather they not have a high 1st rd pick on the field.
  3. That sucks. Hopefully it's a small injury and he'll be fine. Maybe just out for the 1st game if he has to miss any time at all.
  4. I guess to clarify my earlier comment about WR 1 and WR 2 I should clarify what those numbers mean to me (besides not much). The WR1 (in my opinion) is considered the Z wide receiver. This position is the WR that is usually the one who is off the line of scrimmage (allowing for a little buffer to avoid jamming). This guy is the one who is your "best" guy. But none of that is in stone. WR2 being the X receiver who is lined up on the opposite side and on the line of scrimmage. I see KB as liking, inviting and even wanting jamming in press coverage against him because he is so physical. Even Bene said on the podcast that KB and Mike Williams were the only receivers he's ever seen that liked being jammed. To me that makes KB the X receiver. Leaving Funchess as the Z receiver. So while saying 1 and 2 kind of implies best and 2nd best, to me, it's really about how they line up and how their game is different. I'm not saying KB isn't as good as Funchess. Hell..I don't know if he is or isn't (Funchess hasn't seen a single snap yet). I'm simply saying that I see KB as a natural X/WR2 receiver. Hopefully this year they both explode and form an amazing tandum regardless of where they line up.
  5. Fantastic...it's almost like football season is close...but it's not. Great job though. EDIT: For whatever reason, I see them flipping positions as well. While traditionally WR 1 and 2 is more significant of a designation, I'd say now it's just about match ups and I see Funchess potentially being the guy that the CB #1 plays against. Unless they do a Seattle style where CBs play a specific side regardless of who lines up where on offense.
  6. He is a franchise QB. There aren't many of those. There have been a lot of reasons why the Panthers haven't made it far in the playoffs. The organization is not the media or fans. They realize wins and losses are not laid solely at the feet of a QB. I've never been a part of contract negotiations. So I don't really know the intricacies. But I know franchise QBs get paid ridiculous money. I'd be surprised if they make him the richest man in football but I wouldn't be surprised if he gets around 20+M a yr. It seems that's the nature of the beast in today's NFL and I certainly won't stress over it. So yes...I'm ok with Cam being paid ridiculous money and I think our FO has positioned the salary cap to do exactly that. I don't believe Cam or Luke are going anywhere. And the team will be better for it.
  7. I have no problem paying Cam ridiculous money. I think we are set up to do just that.
  8. We can only hope you are wrong. I suppose we will find out rather quickly though.
  9. I think the front office came out and said that they believe Oher will be a solid LT for us. Partially because of his toe that is no longer injured and partially because of reuniting with his old coach. DG also mentioned not wanting a "revolving door" at any position...which is good because that's exactly what Bell was. But he was speaking to consistency in positions like was said earlier.
  10. I was thinking that earlier. Perhaps part of the reason that Oher was signed for 2 years...so there is some transition between the guy we draft next year at Rd1 pick 32 and Oher at LT. I like it and can get behind that plan.
  11. It would be poetic justice if there were some illegal shennigan's to make this signing happen...it gets found out...and Dallas burns. But that's unlikely.
  12. When McFadden gets hurt in preseason and Randle gets arrested..again...I'm picking up Lance Dunbar to carry the load in fantasy football...for a 15th Rd selection.
  13. I'm a damn yankee and plan on retiring in Charlotte.
  14. Yup got that from your other post. We agree.
  15. I'd say they have at least 2nd tier weather.
  16. The results of his cheating are irrelevant to the fact that he cheated. If he cheated and it HURT his game he would just be a terrible cheater. And the fact that he lied about the cheating is potentially worse than what he did to cheat. From the NFL perspective at least.
  17. I think that Brady should get a 6 game suspension. 2 for the actual cheating and 4 for the lying and refusing to cooperate. Hardy got 10 games. 6 games for the DV as per policy and then 4 for the lying and refusing to cooperate or whatever they said. The comparison is not between the actual offense (2 games vs 6 games in this example) but for the lying and refusing to cooperate (4 games for both). Additionally, I think the Patriots should be fined the max $500K and have some picks taken but I'm unsure what level or amount of picks. I actually believe that Belichick did not know what was going on and I don't think he should be held accountable unless you wanted to make the argument that he's in charge so some of it falls on him. I'm ok with that. I also believe that Kraft had no idea what was going on but the Patriots organization as an organization is not just Kraft. It is everyone he employs. It is obvious that the organization (McNally and Jastremski) was involved and the player (Brady) was involved. Therefore, punishment for both and maybe the head coach if you want to throw that in there. Will the NFL actually do any of this? I don't know. But, to me, I think this is fair and reasonable.
  18. Heard an interview with Frank Alexander this morning. His goal is a 10+ sack season and he expects to be 100% focused on this year and redemption. Also, I like the UDFA Miley. I think he makes the team based on sheer determination.
  19. http://www.star-telegram.com/sports/nfl/dallas-cowboys/cowboys-corner-blog/article20407029.html The Cowboys, however, were the first team to get Collins on a road trip. He made a visit to Dallas on Wednesday night where he was greeted at an undisclosed location with a full-court press from every level of the organization, per a source. Owner Jerry Jones, coaches, players were all on hand to woo Collins. I guess he did go to Dallas. There you have it.
  20. I recognize it's kind of ridiculous and might be one of the more retarded things I've done...but the idea I think is just to make him aware that fans want him here. It's kind of gimmicky but in the end, a few bucks will go to some charity and no one is hurt...except maybe my dignity. But eh...after the draft party at Igo's, I'm not sure I have much of that left anyways.
  21. 21 is old enough for me...wait...that didn't sound right. I'm going to try and find a bar that will cooperate this season and see how many people I can get to come and watch the games together. If we get enough participation bars will compete for our business (within reason) and discounts follow etc. That bar would host Panther fans for games against the Ravens etc. I'm excited but it's hard to guage interest. We shall see. Watching games with fellow fans is ALWAYS better than watching it alone with no one to tell you are right about that call or this play.
  22. http://www.nola.com/lsu/index.ssf/2015/05/lsu_ol_lael_collins_nfl_teams.html LSU OL La'el Collins set to meet with Dallas, other NFL teams Saturday NFL teams are free to officially meet with undrafted free agent offensive tackle La'el Collins Saturday and the queue is filling up. Dallas has scheduled a meeting with the former LSU Tiger Collins, according to an NFL source, and he's already had unofficial meetings with two others. Looks like he may not be meeting with Dallas today but has instead set up meetings on Saturday the 9th with Dallas and potentially other teams. The two others mentioned above are Buffalo and Miami for those who have been in a hospital bed this week.
  23. http://www.al.com/sports/index.ssf/2015/05/lael_collins_reportedly_passes.html La'el Collins gets polygraph, paternity test results in murder investigation; will visit Cowboys "We got the test results back today," Baton Rouge Police Department spokesman Don Coppola told NOLA.com on Wednesday, "and La'el Collins is not the father of the baby." Collins also passed a polygraph test in connection with the murder. Baton Rouge police do not consider Collins a suspect or person of interest in the case.
  24. 100% agree on everything you said on Collins but I'm not sure that the effort from the team isn't there. Every report I see now names about 5 teams and we are one of them. Plus we had him in more than once before the draft. I just think the FO is quiet about these things. But I don't know. As for MD, are you in Baltimore? I'm looking to get a group of Panther fans together on Sundays at a bar to be named later (likely in Canton area) to watch games...with the sound on...gasp! If we get enough interest and participation, eventually getting the Charm City Riot chapter of Roaring Riot up and running.
