How many true, lifelong Panthers fans are actually out there?

Cargo Shorts and 2o beers might compete. My money is on Cargo Shorts FTW. -
Bruce Irvin, Seattle LB wants to play for ATL next yr
Moorgan replied to Moorgan's topic in Carolina Panthers
Do players want that option? I would think you're right that players want the second contract as soon as possible. In this case, I think Irvin wants to play for Quinn but I don't know the inner workings of SEA. But both the option and the tag are only 1 year contracts and leaves an opening for an injury that they would want to avoid. So I don't know. In the end, though, for NFL players I think it comes down to guaranteed money...since they can be cut whenever. -
I agree with Tiger and the others about Cam being unique. A running QB is nothing new. Hell for the longest time the QB with the most rushing yards was Steve Young. And I've seen many QBs play in my 41 years (not as many as some and I certainly don't know as much as others). And I've never seen anyone like Cam. He's the only QB I've ever seen that can run like the best of them and not get seriously hurt. Look at RGIII. Look at Steve Young. Cam has all the tools of a very good (maybe not elite but then again maybe) pocket QB AND he is the best running QB to ever play the game. Normally guys are one or the other. Vick was an amazing runner and the fastest back in the NFL (including running backs) and he had a laser arm. Accuracy? Not so much. Could he read a defense? Nope. Rodgers runs pretty well and so does Luck. But Cam is much better than they are at it. And yet he has all the traditional passing tools as well. If he explodes this year, which I think he will, then he leaps into elite status in my mind. And a season after that he will in everyone else's too.

http://www.si.com/nfl/2015/05/14/seahawks-bruce-irvin-falcons?xid=si_social He was at the NBA game last night and said this: “I’m going to be in Atlanta next season. I’m ready,” Irvin said to Black Sports Online. “Atlanta is where I want to be. Believe that.”

In twenty years, what's your favorite win to date?
Moorgan replied to bigskypanthersguy's topic in Carolina Panthers
Judging by your avatar, I find that hard to believe. Yankees fan here. -
It's fun now. I just finished a 30 yr career as an owner of the Panthers and won 27 Superb Owls. It was quite a run but somehow didn't earn me even close to the legacy rating as other owners. Go figure.

That bomb in the 2nd half of the SB would rank up there too. -
Phil Simms is the all time leader of that franchise in many categories. With 100 years of history, that's pretty impressive.

OK I'll share my story. I'm a fan of the Panthers because of Madden. I grew up in NY and my father is a Giants fan...so I was a Giants fan. Went to games and the whole deal. Saw them play Denver the year they beat Denver in the SB (1987 maybe?). Anyways, I joined the Army in 1995 and was stationed in Germany for the next 3 years. I had almost zero connection to sports throughout all of that time. So when I cam back from Germany I was stationed at Fort Bragg, NC. Still no connection to sports...I was raising a very young family and was doing Army stuff all the time. 9/11 happened and we started doing 24 hour a day operations. I was on night shift for many months. It got very dull. So I brought my play station in and would play at night as opposed to staring at the wall. I got Madden in the summer of 2002. It asked what team I wanted to play and I didn't know anyone on the Giants. It had been maybe a decade since I pulled for them. So I decided to play the home town team (plus I had never heard of them). Apparently they were coming off a 1-15 season. But they were getting the Defensive coach from the Giants. So I said ok. I'll play them. Won the SB of course and really learned who all the players were. So when I actually saw them on tv I felt like I knew them already. I didn't care that they weren't very good the year before. It just felt sort of novel I guess jumping back into sports and knowing all of the players on this team without having watched any of them ever play. So then I just started watching them play. It helped that they were always on tv locally. They were so so that year in 2002 but they were fun to watch and I was hooked. So my then wife worked at the base ticket place that gets soldiers deals on trips and things then next year (2003 season). The base had a trip that went to every Panther home game on a bus from base. They needed someone to chaperone the trip and they would get a free ticket to the game. So I naturally volunteered and went to every home game during the Cardiac Cats season. It was electric and I've been a rabid fan ever since. TLDR - I played Madden in 2002 and that made me a Panther fan...also Army. -

I'd have to go with X Clown double OT in St Louis. That game was simply amazing and the finish was euphoric. The Superb Owl was even more exciting but that finish...not so much. In my mind, a close second is the OT win in Tampa that same year (2003) where we blocked the extra point. That game was a lot of fun too and solidified a rivalry for me with the Bucs. But that St Louis game was just plain epic. -
Amazing young talent. I have no issues with it.

So Marines call shorts shorts? Do they also... ...actually I got nothing. I like Marines. Lots of jokes for Air Force and Navy but Marines I can at least relate to.

Ha! Right on.

Did you make that?

Football is a game where team matters more than any player. I find it hard to imagine changing football teams because of any single player. Basketball I'm much more likely as the one player has such a profound effect. You can love a player and follow him as opposed to a team. If Cam leaves...we will get someone else. But I don't think he's leaving. Not much of a chance at all. In my opinion.

When's the last time the Cavs won a ring?
-
He reminds me of Bill Lambeer (sp?). The kind of guy only fans of that team like. I won't say he's a terrible player because he's not but you're right...he hasn't played very well. And I'm good with that. Don't like Rose much either.

I hate FSU but Bowden is pretty fair and accurate on that take.

I've hated him since college.

Close out in Chicago. Should be a great game. LeBron was amazing tonight.

I'm pretty sure he's talking about his much publicized ability to put Cobras, specifically King Cobras, into a trance like sleep. It's really pretty remarkable. I read somewhere that he learned it while hitch hiking through Death Valley back in the 90s. My understanding is that he uses a rhythmic motion and a soft humming. Pretty amazing stuff.

FYI just realized there was a basketball portion to this board. I've been watching every night...it's the playoffs.
-
LeBron is strong tonight. They just need to close it out.

Dan Morgan was my favorite player. But Smitty was my favorite player on offense. When he first transitioned to WR he would get some stupid 15 yd penalties that I hated. Then I realized that fire was what fueled him...and still does apparently. I don't have any problem with him acting immature now. It's part of who he is. I don't mind. I'll be happy the day he retires as a Panther. I don't know if he was the best player in Panther history but he was definitely the most entertaining and fun to watch.
