Yes another thread by PanthersUnited, I felt this was newsworthy and affects the Panthers quite a bit and just came across this now after I posted my other thread. so cut me some slack. http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap3000000484680/article/jameis-winston-needs-to-grow-up-off-the-field-his-attorney-says A few days ago we heard another woman come out with rape allegations, now his very own lawyer is saying he isn't ready to basically be the off the field player to make it in the NFL . Keep in mind this is his OWN lawyer saying this, that's huge. This isn't Nolan Naworcki or Mel Kiper Jr. It's his own freakin lawyer lol. This is huge for us because either A. It could possibly cause the Bucs to go elsewhere in the draft or B. They draft him anyway and he becomes Justin Blackmon 2.0 at the QB position. Either way, great news for us

Will our cap wealth next season change Gettleman?

Will our cap wealth next season change Gettleman?
PanthersUnited posted a topic in Carolina Panthers
As the saying goes, money changes people. For the last few seasons Gettleman has had peanuts to work with in terms of money. And because of this he has unfairly got this rep that he is super cheap and unwilling to pay for good players. Sure, now he says his philosphy is to add cheap, vet minium players on one year deals and not splurge on better players in FA. But is there a chance all this will change once he actually gets his hands on all this newfound cap wealth he has never had before? Sure, he might be thinking to himself now that his philosphy will remain the same. But dont a lot of people say if they came into a ton of money they would still be the same and still drive the same beater cars, then next thing you know it, one month later after coming into money, you suddenly see a Bentley in the drive way. Now ofcourse I dont expect him to just go out and sign a FA to a Suh like contract on day 1 of FA, however I do think signing a Torrey Smith of next season (whoever that might be) isnt unreasonable to think. I know I have discussed the actual numbers, but just a refresher. We are projected to have 71 million in cap space next season. To put that into perspective, we could afford to lock up both Cam and Luke, set money aside we need for rookies we draft and still have about $30 million left in cap space after all that. In other words, a fug ton of cap space. Star wont be coming due for a contract for another two seasons and Benjamin 3 more seasons to go before his comtract comes up. So say we land a Torrey Smith like player at 9 million a year, that will still leave us with about $21 million in cap space. Let that sink in for a minute.. Next season we can lock up Cam, Luke, set aside the money we need for our rookie class AND sign a Torrey Smith level FA and still have $19-$20 million left in cap space. So the question remains, will coming into all this cap wealth change Gettleman when he actually has his hands on all this money? Its easy for the poor and middle class to say things like "money doesnt buy happiness" or " more to life then money." Until they actually come into money that is. -
Holy fuggin poo!! We actually signed a name people have heard of. There ya go Gman

I am on Bre shad Perriman's bandwagon
PanthersUnited replied to top dawg's topic in Carolina Panthers
I truely think DGB will be that one prospect this year that falls to mid rounds, there is always one player that drops far and people are shocked, DGB could be that guy. While VERY unlikely, it wouldnt be shocking if he went undrafted. Two pot possesions and domestic violence are no joke. Especially after Gordon, Blackmon, Hardy and Ray Rice among others. -
I agree with this 100%, Gman made a huge mistake with his step up in class comments, especially when he was so deliberate in saying we would go from dollar tree to Target this year, big mistake and now he is playing defense and damage control in having to explain and clarify. He should have stuck with the same talking points "We are still cap challenged, I will continue to employ the same strategy I have employed the last two years that won us back to back NFC south titles." How hard would that have been? But instead he went off in this talk about dollar tree, target and stepping up in class, big mistake.

Panthers interested in Landon Collins
PanthersUnited replied to Kuech the Sneak's topic in Carolina Panthers
Hmmm, first we workout Trae Waynes and now Landon Collins, both projected top 15 picks, could Gman really be considering trading up? What next, a workout with Amari Cooper?- 84 replies

Are you freakin crazy?!... They won't make it past the 4th round.

With Gman's draft record this is huge. Kind of sucks you can't trade comp picks, still stoked nonetheless!

Mr. Richardson did flex muscles regarding Hardy
PanthersUnited replied to dswofford's topic in Carolina Panthers
Did you miss where I said domestic violence is bad? Yes it's terrible but it's just not bad enough to completely end an individual's career after the 1st offense. I am simply saying let him serve his 6 game suspension as punishment and then let him back on the field. All of you have selective reading, you act as though I condone domestic violence -

PanthersUnited replied to dswofford's topic in Carolina Panthers
All I want is a player that does do wrong to suffer the punishment the NFL agreed on which is his 6 game suspension then after that I want him back on my favorite team kicking azz and taking names Why is this so hard to comprehend? When Jeffrey Taylor of the Hornets got arrested for domestic assault, he served his 23 game suspension, and after that was immediatley given back his roster spot.. ::::goes look outside::: nope, the world didn't end. -

Sorry, while domestic violence is very bad, unless a player is involved in murder or child molestation or anything of that nature then winning should take precedent over anything else and that has always been my opinion -

When it gets in the way of winning, then yes, in my opinion it's a problem -

Disagree.. Cut Cotch. KB is WR1, Jennings WR2, Strong would be WR3 while he learns the game from Jennings and Ginn would move to no 4 since we mainly signed him for punt return duties anyway
