Brady is a glue guy. Plays smart team ball. Without him on the court UNC fell apart. Know why? Cause it was a collection of talent with no glue. Much like the Hornets some talent but don't play cohesively.

Hornets Signing LaMelo Ball to Max Extension
mickeye76 replied to MillionDollarCam's topic in Charlotte Hornets
Would have burned it all to the ground and started over. Play some money ball. Heck the Heat just was in the finals with "the replacements" squad and Butler. Get a real coach and draft better. -
It's all gambles. Entire draft was a gamble. We passed on guys with less red flags to take gambles on others. The Melo deal is also a gamble. Can he stay healthy and become a superstar? I'm just not impressed by the moves. Free agency is looking like a gamble as well. All in on Bridges staying despite him and his agents being collectively known as idiots.
-
Bridges playing hardball at the negotiating table despite being a PR nightmare. Grant Williams got away cause we were distracted. We let Brady Manek sign elsewhere. PJ also likely to move on cause we focused on Bridges more. Coaching is still bottom tier. No culture change here. Sustained mediocrity. Lastly we passed on a guy in the draft for a "better" fit. Then proceeded to draft guard and wing over and over again. Make it make sense.

2023 Charlotte Hornets Summer League
mickeye76 replied to MillionDollarCam's topic in Charlotte Hornets
I bet ya Scoot dominates in his debut. 25 points and looks like he belongs. We will see Friday. That said now that Miller is a hornet, I hope he will develop but. As my last hurray as a scoot train guy I'm gonna take the over on scoot scoring more than Miller in summer league debut. -
Viking article predicting big drop off for Thielen

Typical ex team talking down bout the one that got away. Minnesota could have still used him but they let him go. Now he is trash according to their media. He is perfect for a rookie QB. Lots of third down clutch plays and sneaky TD's for him this year. Him and Hurst are the safety valves. Hopefully a healthy Chark, a developing TMJ and Mingo are the stars of the offense. I also think Mingo is meant to learn from and eventually replace Adam but as a bigger and younger slot. -
I'm torn. Theilen and Nuke would be the best WR tandem that I can remember in a long time us having but maybe a couple years too late. Adam and Nuke both got a bit of age on them. I think Adam will help the young guys but I worry another vet might take reps from our young guys. I'd rather sign a corner with that money.

At least Oden had an NFL ready body. Young Shaq, Robinson and Duncan are the prototypes Wemby reminds me more of Manute.

And I'm down. Moving on from Hayward is a step. We need to take several steps in a different direction.

This is thinking outside the box. I like the idea of either pairing Melo with Scoot or Miller but a trade would revamp the team over night. Drop Bridges and use that money to resign Dennis and PJ. Heresy coming trade Melo to the pelicans for some picks. Maybe the 14th and a future 1st maybe or offload Hayward. We can dream. Get out from under the coming Melo, Bridges contracts and the anchor that has been Hayward's. Oh, and a new coach.

Hence the comparison to Bennett. My hope is YGM can fill that role or another. He is only 25 and has untapped potential because of the era of retardation. That Chinn and Burns developed under those circumstances is amazing. I also hope Tremble and TMJ can finally reach their potential with better coaching.

Have not given up on Yetur yet. I doubt the coaches have either since they have not got to see him first hand. I have some faith Envero willbe able to put him in the right places to produce. He actually had a decent season last year or at least his most productive so far. Nice fumble recoveries and tackles. I could possibly see him being a Micheal Bennett in this defense. This defense will be Envero's baby. He has many tools to utilize. Chinn, Horn, Burns, Brown and possibly YGM. It could be the second coming of the LOB.
-
Also the CMC trade. That seemed like a tanking move. Lo and behold Foreman shows out with a new simplified offense with less emphasis on passing to the back and simple north south running.
-
It wouldn't surprise me if Mingo ends up being one of the best WRs of this class.

Clooney got the kiss of death. Overdrafted, bad team and bad luck with injuries. He was gifted but a myriad of circumstances (some within his control and some not) have stunted his career. Honestly between the two new rookies that bull Rush run stopper across from Burns spot might be ok.
-
This isn't the NBA you can't tank. You can trot out a Jimmy Clausen and end up with a Cam. But the NFL is a results driven league and unlike the NBA you can't play half speed or bench starters just for draft status. Putting the QBs out there that we fielded is the closest to tanking you will see in the NFL. The defense and running backs weren't having it. Fact is we could have beat the Bucs if not for injuries in the secondary. It's just silly. It worked out. We didn't lay down and still got our QB. At this point it's even sillier to talk bout tanking and the shoulda coulda BS than it was during the season. Let it go dude.

Dang.. I guess we made a huge mistake?
mickeye76 replied to TheCasillas's topic in Carolina Panthers
Guess we made two mistakes. Supposedly Baker and Darnold are great. I didn't see it. Yeah the offense was vanilla but if PJ, Baker, Darnold couldn't score I think it's on them.- 83 replies

Prediction. We will see what a NFL level offense looks like. Baker, PJ, and Sam could barely move the ball down the field. Bryce will have several 300 yrd games strung together.

Chinn don't fit inside. Shaq, TD and Chinn all fit as OLB in a 4-3 but in a 3-4 they move inside and responsibility change. I hope Brown works as a DE cause otherwise with the rentals we have we may need 3 guys upfront and can stop worrying bout the linebackers. Shaq, Luvu and Yep Smith can hold down the inside and between the multitudes of options at Edge and designed blitzes from Luvu and the safeties we got on roster they should keep the pressure coming So the front three is where I wanna see a shake up. As a team coming into FA next year. Ya think we can find a NT or 3-4 DE on the cheap? Maybe the rentals become more long term. If a handful of players from this off season produce we will be talking bout using the cap to resign or extend folks.
-
Next year we rule free agency. Moving up to one was huge. We will see if the draft works out for us this year. Next year is where we shed some dead money and resign the core but add too. Heck this year we were super active in FA and were working right at the cap. Chinn is a rockstar. He is the modern defense player. All the linebackers this year were basically based off Chinn. Or Micah Parsons. The oversized safety and the undersized but diesel DE is becoming the norm. That's why I wanted Jack. He is part of the next wave of quick but old school ILB.

Tennessee picking Will "Connecticut bred" Levis over Big Cody is a travesty. If Cody would not fit in and within a year become Mayor of Nashville or Levis bust and get sent out on rails were a bet. I'm taking Cody being a long time contributor over Levis being a Post-apocalypse warlord of the local populist dogma as a bet too. But anything is possible. But how bout Branch THERE to be selected? That's the dog I'm pulling for. LeVIS and his entourage were out once they agent sayed no one is calling and nobody in this area of the draft is super needy for a "developmental head case" QB. OUT they go.

Another reach. Gibbs and the guard. Wow. But it makes sense in a way. They trying to run and get passing yards through the RB. It makes sense. But that Georgia humidity melts brains.
-
Yep. Can play inside and out in a 3-4. His potential is still developing. With coaching he could be special.
