If Tepper is smart he goes after Jim Harbaugh.
mickeye76 replied to CamWhoaaCam's topic in Carolina Panthers
Harbaugh will play Hardball. Wanting big bucks and control that will make Rhule look like the amateur he was. Will the product be better? Likely but there is a bit of a stink on Harbaugh if you haven't heard. His deal in Michigan is sweet despite the STINK. -

Nope. I'm enjoying watching the Buffaloes, Sanders fam and Hunter but.... Nope. -
24- 21 Panthers. Yep I'm still holding onto hope.

To the point. I like that. I don't like the get Jeudy from Denver, get Jameson from Det, and trade for Higgins. With what assets do we "get" these players¿? That 2nd round pick is make or break since we went all in on Young. We need a safe smart pick there. Tight ends are risky. The 2nd round pick is a BPA type of situation. It don't matter the position, we need to hit there. It can be RB, OL, LB, DE or CB but TE, WR, QB or Safety are kinda off the table. The lol at the end of the post is confusing much like most people that laugh out loud at tragedy. Not to pull a finesse Fitterer move but another option might be to hope a QB or premium position player slips and we can turn that pick into multiple picks cause we need help all over. Personally I play it safe and avoid skill and go defense or offensive line unless a guy slips that should have been a 1st rounder.

I would look at young 2nd tier WR's in FA. Mooney in Chicago or Gabe Davis in Buffalo. Both guys have been playing 2nd fiddle and might be ready for more. One or the other as a target in FA. We have to hope Mingo becomes what Smitty saw. Then in the draft. My targets are 2nd gen guys Rice and Moose. One has ties here and the other is the Prince to the Rice legacy. Both have the raw skills to succeed. Not correlated to the original question but a backup young RB should be a target. Miles and Chubba are fine but a dart throw lottery pick in the mid rounds RB is necessary. We need a committee cause we don't have a bell cow RB. Youth at RB is and always will be a asset. I like Blackshear but he might be better at PR/KR than as rotational RB. We need to throw everything against the wall and see what sticks. TMJ and DJ Chark are not it. I would like to keep TMJ but I have doubts he can do it the hard way. We need rookies willing to work to earn they spots. A RT in the draft that could also fit as a guard strengthens the oline. Tremble can work. So TE is not the priority much like the previous draft when folks wanted to use premium picks on position. We still don't have that luxury. Fixing the offense is gonna take picks and FA effort. The defense is close despite a scheme change that I felt may have slowed progress. Square pegs for round holes type of thing. Regardless we are two years away. Fitt needs to go. His drafts have been abysmal. I'd give Reich the same length of rope i gave Fitt. A couple years and a hard look at the results.

I disagree I think we have leaders. Derrick Brown, Frankie Luvu, Adam, and Shaq Thompson all are leaders. I disagree with your assessment of Burns and Young. I hope they improve with better talent around them. Our makeshift secondary doesn't help Burns who would feast with coverage sacks if our corners covered. Young and Reich need time before passing judgement. I think we are being very impatient as a fan base and our nostalgia for Fox and Ron is blinding us of their flaws. You want to talk bout old school offense to a fault. Fox wrote the book. Ron had golden tickets yet still couldn't cash in. Cam had a weak oline and questionable WR's most of his career. He still produced but was ran into the ground by Ron without proper protection or quality weapons. Most of the fans had pitchforks out the year before Ron and Co put it all together. Fox hindered rookies developments by his lack of trust. Coaches and QB's take time to properly evaluate.

Electric player. Has some juice. Over hyped during pre draft and he has not quite lived up to it. Still he hopefully has a spot on the roster and can do something on special teams and in rotation at RB. These are the plays we need to make. Tremble instead of Hurst, Blackshear getting reps, a Sullivan sighting, Chuba in place of Miles, Moton at left tackle and Ikey at RT. It wasn't working before gotta shake it up. We didn't bring anybody in at trade deadline so... We got what we got let's see what we got.

Why Trading Burns is the Only Path to Getting a #1 WR in 2024
mickeye76 replied to tukafan21's topic in Carolina Panthers
I'm not opposed to bringing in either Mooney or Gabe Davis. Yeah I know they aren't Number 1 guys but both have youth and may have not reached their potential. I don't think Tee or Evans are coming here. So I'm already on plan B. We just need to reload the WR room. While we at it RB needs some new blood. I refuse to make anymore trades cause we get fleeced too often. Let Burns walk. -
Question for the Burns pocket watchers...
mickeye76 replied to CamWhoaaCam's topic in Carolina Panthers
Damn. That may have been the worst put down I've ever seen on this site. Mean. Just mean. It's a calculated move to free up money and focus on FA because our next draft is going to be close to a non-factor. My other "fitt move" would be just take BPA in the second and NOT trade down to acquire more picks or trade away any players to acquire more picks. -
Question for the Burns pocket watchers...
mickeye76 replied to CamWhoaaCam's topic in Carolina Panthers
Moore trade got us Young. Yeah, some have reservations bout that but I don't. I think Young can become the franchise guy if we support him with a better oline and another trusted weapon in the offense. CMC situation actually is very similar to Burns. His salary is crazy for a RB. RB and WR are positions we can hit on in the draft in later rounds. Building a RB Corp is not beyond our reach. If the trade off is signing Burns or being big players in FA I know what I want. We need more than just Burns. We need 3 to 4 players to fill spots and to resign guys like Hill, Luvu and Brown. -
Question for the Burns pocket watchers...
mickeye76 replied to CamWhoaaCam's topic in Carolina Panthers
My strategy is addition by subtraction. We add two new FA edge rusher types to replace Burns and give Barno and yep DJ Johnson some reps and hope they develop. Use the extra monies to add a guard, sign our other FA's and be a player in the Tee Higgins sweepstakes. -
I’m convinced that with above average WRs Young can be VERY good
mickeye76 replied to TheBigKat's topic in Carolina Panthers
Shuffle the oline. Add Tee Higgins. I say let Burns walk if he won't accept a reasonable deal. Use the money he would have ate up to add two pass rushers, Tee, and resign our own FA's that we want to keep. I don't think any of the LT's in free agency will be keen to come here. I doubt the tackles that are currently guarding Mahommes and Dak are coming here. Best bet is to add a guard and hope Moton has been sandbagging along with Ikey playing right side like a beast. It's tough cause both the offense and defense are several pieces away. -
Ickey is fuging garbage - the official thread™
mickeye76 replied to Sean Payton's Vicodin's topic in Carolina Panthers
He would fit better at guard or RT. I bought the hype that we had found our LT but always in the back of my mind wondered how the road grader aggressive run blocker we all heard about pre draft had magically became a pass pro expert. Moton needs to man up and earn his salary on the left side instead of right. He can't be worse at this point than icky. -
CJ had a overthrown ball, a half dozen batted balls and was outplayed by Young. JK he was decent but we won.

I would fire Reich at 0-7
mickeye76 replied to Move the Panthers to Raleigh's topic in Carolina Panthers
I would let the rest of the season play out. Rookie QB, Defense scheme transition, new players, new coaches etc etc. This could be a recipe for a quick turnaround OR what we are doing right now. -
This. I was ok standing pat. Bring in a Minshew, Brisett or another place holder. Heck Andy Dalton starting this year would have been o.k. If we decided to part ways with DJ to go up in the bottom of the first for a target (maybe one of the many CB's I liked there) Stevenson for instance. Honestly I might have traded down out of 9 and added OL, CB and Linebacker help.

How do the Panthers move forward in a tanked season
mickeye76 replied to Verge's topic in Carolina Panthers
I think we need to stand pat. I wouldn't unload too many players. Donte is on a fairly team friendly deal. Burns deal will not be. Chinn seems to not be being utilized by Envero as much as I thought he would. I thought we would see more three safety lineups. Next year's FA is very important. We should be careful with that cap room. I would prioritize the guys that want to stay here. I don't know if Burns fits that. He deserves a big pay day but I would use that cap space to resign Luvu, CJ Henderson, Sam Franklin and FA pieces. Without many draft assets free agency is our best bet to make a splash. Tee Higgins needs to be a target. -
Without a 1st this upcoming draft and it being a fair amount of time away an early mock and FA is silly. But I'm a silly goose. Luvu and Brown are the priorities. Let Burns get paid by someone else. Resign Troy Hill and Sam Franklin. Both have played well as next man up. Can't believe I'm saying this but CJ Henderson has also improved and is worthy of resigning. Now to players to bring in. Let's bring Tee Higgins in. Is he a number 1 WR? In this offense it's likely. Pair him with Mingo and Adam. Since we are cutting Burns loose I would add a pass rusher or two in FA. Lastly the far off draft. Art 33 we take Rocket. Arkansas RB who does a pretty good Derrick Henry imitation. A big back with burst that could give our running game some identity. Him, Chuba, and Shenault would be a hard hitting committee. At 65 Oregon St has a bulldozer RT. We need to get meaner and protect Young. A shuffle of the oline. Heer me out LT - Moton LG - Corbett OC - Boze RG - Rookie RT - Ikey That's a run blocking machine up front. Pass protection not so much but that right side would play to Ikem's strength and bring him along a bit slower. His draft position and decent rookie season has pushed him a bit too fast. I think Moton could hold down the left. In the modern NFL both tackles need to be decent in pass pro. He is also our highest paid lineman and a veteran. Let's put more on his plate and ease up on the second year kid playing out of position. So the plan is run the ball down folks throats, use more TE's in to block, use the screen as an extension of the running game, hope Mingo and Tee can get the passing game going, and let Adam work that middle moving the chains. I know it's a lot. But the identity is "do your job, next man up and keep pounding" no superstars. No big money pass rusher. Moneyball style of roster building.

Put Brown beside another wrecking ball like Jordan Davis, Sexy Dexy Lawrence or Jalen Carter you got a wall that defends and attacks. I also wanted Micah. I was unaware exactly how disruptive he could be but thought in that draft he would fill the Luke void. The draft strategies for years have been head scratchers. I wanted Tristan Wirfs too and have vainly wanted us to address the interior oline with a premium player like Creed Humphrey, Landon Dickerson, Jackson Carman, etc. Every year I've pounded the drum to build the oline and Defense them bring in a QB. We got lucky with Luvu and the Bozeman signing cause we have ignored oline and linebackers during the draft. Instead we kept drafting corners. Pressure causes coverage sacks. A soild oline helps QB and running game. You can find overlooked RB, WR and yes even QB's later in the draft. It's gonna take years to build this because of the decisions made recently.
-
In a perfect world we would have a 1 and 2 WR that can stretch the field, win contested catches and pile up YAC. Then Adam work the middle and be a clutch chain mover and sneaky dagger. This is far from a perfect world so.. here we are using the slot as our primary target.

Let's play "I could be a better GM than Scott Fitterer"
mickeye76 replied to NAS's topic in Carolina Panthers
Hindsight isn't 20/20 as the saying goes but it's easier than foresight. That said if I was GM I wouldn't had chased relevance with all the retread QB's. No TB, no Baker, No Cam reunion tour, and No Sam. Instead I would have bit the bullet and committed to a rebuild using all the draft capitol. Added a developmental QB other than Corrall and called it a day. Heinke, the XFL wonder, etc would have either produced a top 5 pick or some surprise wins. My overall draft strategy would be mid round RB's, several CB's, Linebackers that fit a 4-3, fast small school WR's and lots of Olinemen. Oh and I would slap Rhule in his fat jowls. -
28-13 Saints. It pains me to say it but I have 0 faith in the secondary. I hope I'm wrong. I also need Jamal Williams to be shut down. Playing against him in FF. I have Nick Chubb they have Jamal. 107 to 110. I'll be sweating it out tonight.

Official Lions at Panthers damn it's hot out GameDay thread
mickeye76 replied to Zod's topic in Carolina Panthers
I just want to put him beside Ickey and get Corbett back and go from there. BC is the swing tackle and quality depth guy. Chandler has shown me some grit. Playing RG when I think LG is his more comfortable spot. -
Official Lions at Panthers damn it's hot out GameDay thread
mickeye76 replied to Zod's topic in Carolina Panthers
We should have taken Will Levis. Lol. AR is baby Cam. Stop. It hurts. The laughing. Take the hot takes and shove em where the sun don't shine. Probably cooler there. Bryce is gonna be fine. I'm excited to watch him. CAM was uber talented but Bryce has the football acumen that Cam lacked. He going to make a different type of play. Smart plays. Like a more dynamic Teddy B. Teddy B making some deep ball plays would have been enough to win some games we loss. -
Did we just pass drafting Cam Newton Jr….
mickeye76 replied to TheBigKat's topic in Carolina Panthers
This. In college Cam and Bryce stood head and shoulders above everybody else. National Titles, Heismans, and dominance in SEC. AR? Not so much. Does this mean he won't be successful nah. It just means he is no SUPERMAN.
