Blackshear, Miles and Chubba can handle some passes going they way. What I prefer is a bigger back we can rely on in short yardage. A bell cow with Chubba and Miles as change of pace guys. Along with that the oline needs to open some gaps.

Doubling down on Young. I don't like it. We NEED Young insurance.
mickeye76 replied to top dawg's topic in Carolina Panthers
Impatient owner. Impatient fans. Both are recipes for disaster. Should have just chilled at 9. We needed to build the roster instead we depleted it by trading Moore and going all in on Young. Taking BPA at 9 was the move. Now you want us to scrap a rookie who was dropped into dysfunction. Baker,Teddy, and Darnold all failed here too. Maybe it's the organization not the player. The QB at 33 is not likely to succeed here either. JJ, Bo and Penix could all be reaches by the Falcons, Giants, Vikings and Broncos of the league. Bo could be Paytons replacement for Russ. JJ could sit behind Danny Dimes and be Daboll's guy in the future. That leaves Penix who honestly along with the rest of the second tier guys is a 3rd round prospect but will be pushed to the top because of the premium value that QB's have. Scrap the number 1 ( Maybe he shouldn't have been) for the 4th best QB in a top heavy class, Yeah that makes sense. -
Is Higgins the answer? Go big in FA and add a WR at 33. Then we have AT, Mingo, Higgins and a rookie. For sure better than what we trotted out this year. We get lucky at 33 with a guy who catches on faster than Mingo and Tee as the numero uno. I mean it's not outside the realm of possibility. And AT as the chain mover in the slot.

TB ran only to set up play action. And give Baker room to move the pocket. That could actually work with Young too. I hope so. Being less predictable would be nice. Fact is though AT being our best weapon needs to change. Also love Chubba but that straight line with little wiggle don't work every down. We need to get a guy that can run outside too and cut through the lane and explode. So a faster and more explosive back is necessary. Chubba would be a amazing change of pace back but he ain't the one. It's a luxury pick but we need to catch lightning in the bottle at RB to offset our current ineptitude in the passing game. Big play WR, big play RB and better oline play needs to happen along with a huge leap by Young. Then we might compete. Defense can't fall off at the same time. So yeah two year rebuild easy.

Played against somebody that had White in fantasy. Lots of carries and lots of pass plays going his way but only reason he got points was volume. Lots of negative rush plays but had volume. In other words White ain't it. Neither is Chubba or Sanders but on paper that combo could be more productive than White. Personally I want to add another RB in the draft. I like Blackshear and he could honestly fit in a committee but if an upgrade is available at some point in the draft let's do it.

Only did four rounds cause if this happened it's fairly obvious what the later rounds should be. A olineman, another WR, TE or RB. Just offensive weapons. Sweat being there at 65 was a miracle. I've toyed with taking him at 33. Putting him beside Brown is intriguing. Darius is a 3-4 DE which we need cause if we gonna commit to the scheme we need young players that fit it and stop relying on vets. Mitchell is Jaycee insurance. If Horn is healthy. Big IF we have two young bookend CB's. Tez is the token WR we hope becomes Youngs safety blanket. Plus he UNC so homer logic says he can sell tickets and get locals excited. Gotta get lucky at guard but this draft could help the defense quick.

There is gonna be huge pressure on incoming HC to make Young work. Therefore I don't see a early round QB. Our draft capital is limited. WR, OL and TE will be higher on the list to hopefully give Young more weapons and more protection. I could see a sneaky HC move where we take a developmental guy late but splitting reps and a competition at QB is unlikely. 2025 will be the year we either move on from Young or he has developed and makes the leap. Yeah it could happen. Giving up after one year won't.

This is what happens when not quite as lucky. Mitchell is raw and might take time. We actually don't have much time we need a impact at WR quick. Love Frazier pick. Like a younger Boze. Isaiah hopefully can fit in at guard. Then we switched to defense. Tommy is a throwback thumper. Randolph Jr could grow into 3-4 DE. He is already 6-5 and 300 something. Jaylon could fit as a backup SS and special team guy.

A lot of the better teams are always looking to develop and draft pieces to their oline. Just look at the teams vying for the Superbowl. Lions - Oline proficient at pass and run protect. Reiff and Ragnow are recent draft picks. Ravens - best run blocking oline in the biz. Scheme, playcalling and a mutant at QB helps but... 49ers - ya see a theme. Chiefs- they keep Mahommes fairly clean. Teams that compete add Olinemen early and often. The reason we all got excited bout Ikem was because we rarely take Olinemen. We historically ignore the position and plug in FA retreads. So yeah Powers should be a target.

Thanks. I got really lucky. Joe is the anti-Bryce. Reading the field - Nope Decision making - Nah Prototype size - Yeah if not exceptional Rocket launcher - Maybe best in draft The big WR's, an eventual replacement for Boze, and sadly Wilson would be in Luvu's spot.
-
DeVondre Sweat. 345lbs and fairly mobile for that size. Could be available at 33.

Yeah switching schemes again is a silly idea. The pass defense actually has been surprisingly decent. We need Shaq back at ILB. I hope Envero sticks around and if he does the 3-4 will likely also stick. A big NT to clog up the middle frees up Brown to do Brown things like ragdolling Olinemen.

Bountygate. Saints culture became playing dirty and win at any cost.
-
Stop making sense. It's all Bryces fault. The trade up and including Moore was all his idea. While we at it how bout we put the worst oline in football in front to protect me. This is not the rookie season anyone would want. Cut the kid some slack. Jeez.

We need better secondary play. Sadly the option is to hope and cross our fingers and toes Horn can have a healthy season. But I would hedge that bet with a 2nd round corner (something we should have done last year) and resign guys who have stepped up. Like Hill and Franklin. We need to upgrade the oline. Again a two prong attack. In FA we need to look at Robert Hunt or Jonah Williams. Then In draft the 3rd round is not too early to look at Guard, Center or Tackle. Weapons. If there is a way we can add both Gabe Davis and Mooney it couldn't hurt. Mingo, Adam, Davis and Mooney would actually make a decent WR Corp. Add in Strahan, Sullivan and Shenault fighting for spots. Pass rush. Burns could pull a Pepper. Move on and we get nothing. Other than cap space. We use that cap room to sign, extend and resign. It's not ideal but in the long term it could be better for us. Double dip in FA. We have too many issues to fix in one off season. With just the roster. Not even including coaching, management and scouting. But the culture needs a shake up. The culture needs to be no big money contracts and earn it. Horn, Mingo, Hurst, Sanders and Ikem all need competition. Burns can stay but he needs a reality check too. I'd rather spend 25 million a year on two guys than just him. Fact is we need to look to 2025 to add that rookie pass rush till then plug and play.
-
I wanted Tee but quickly realized it's not really a option. So I pivoted. Mooney and Gabe Davis are plan B. Two second tier guys can = one 1st tier right? We need to completely revamp the WR room. Another FA I hope we explore is adding a veteran OL guy. Jonah Williams could be our guy. Tee needing a new contract could help us get Jonah. I don't know what is gonna happen with Burns. I have doubts the FO even knows. Heck the GM and HC might change. So... Backup plan if Burns moves. Two second tier pass rushers = one 1st tier pass rusher right? Lastly the guys who have earned a new contract need to stay. Luvu is a priority. A few of the Corners filling in for glass horn have also earned a contract. Franklin and Hill are gamers. Our off season plan should be very "money ball" no overpaying and adding multiple guys in positions of need.

If Tepper is smart he goes after Jim Harbaugh.

I meant Fitterer. Sorry. Tepper needs to stay far from Harbaugh though. -

Frank needs to evolve. We hired a really good staff on paper but it's not gelling. I think it's partly cause Reich is not as adaptable to others input as he should be. The vanilla offense we all saw in preseason that was promised to have wrinkles and spice is still vanilla. It's an outdated WCO with no modern aspects. Every team is using motion and disguising but us. I think the closest to what we want to do was with Dalton in there (makes sense he is a vet QB) but even then it was too pass heavy. We don't have world beaters at WR so that is a facade. Much like switching to a 3-4 our players do not match the scheme. Way to slow down progress. Dare I say retard the progress. How we gonna "drop a rookie in" then change everything that supposedly made a drop in possible? -

If Tepper is smart he puts his house on the market. I see no way his head doesn't roll. -

Fixing the oline. - Sign Jonah Williams in FA. - Move Ikem to LG or RG - Figure out if Campen is that guy. - Scheme re work. Zone is not it. - Play BC as extra lineman. I miss the Arbys package. More beef please. Why the actual fug we had Throckmorton or Zavala out there other than injuries I will never know. I have not given up hope on Zavala, Ikem or Bozeman. But scheme change is obviously not helping. LT- Williams RT- Moton OC- Boze then guards could be some combo between Ikem,Corbett and BC. Then like we did last year put the odd man out in there for extra protection or extra run blocking. I would pass on the extra TE or extra WR to put more guys in the trenches. I've seen other teams run the extra linemen package with success. Also every year it seems we all call for two Tight end sets and it never happens. Passing down extra TE, running play extra OL and switch it up so it's not a tell. But what do I know? Other than what we doing now is NOT working.
