  1. It's bad. Digital Media is my career (SEO being the primary focus), and the company I was with the last 5 years was just acquired by a mega corp / media publisher. Since the acquisition, it's all about churn + hot take + volume as the priority. Quality has gone out the window. Oh, and ad infesting the site and alienating core audience by flooding the homepage with shopping content. Currently working on moving towards a more ideal situation, but much (not all) of the industry only cares about one thing.... Revenue (obviously), but the path many take is morally disgusting. Revenue = Ad Impressions More Ad Impressions = More Clicks More Clicks = More Hot Takes / More clickbait More clickbait = More websites following the lead Etc. Glad to see they'll be operating independently for now. But it's a matter of time before The Athletic uses the same playbook & policies as The New York Times
  2. I have that same feeling. Looking past the PR, Media statements, etc, and just purely based on success and trajectory, it is hard for me to believe Rhule will be back. Unless there are some major improvements organizationally that we don't see. I won't be surprised if he's retained, but I haven't fully bought into the narrative / media talk about him being a shoe-in to return.
  3. If you have any questions about getting into it, and need to bounce some ideas to find where you might enjoy, feel free to send a DM. I'm sure there's a lot more demand for physical advertising around Philly due to all the traffic. And that's not going away anytime soon. But if you want to future proof it, start getting some more digital experience. Not sure if you ever plan on moving back or not (I'm looking to move to the Cary / Morrisville area by end of the year with the wife & kids), but I was able to switch to fully remote 4 years ago, and I can never look back! And my 3 year old is all-in on the Panthers. But it doesn't hurt that my wife didn't really have a team when we started dating (her family is full of Bears fans, but she didn't give a hoot about football back then.) Now she also doesn't miss a game
  4. There are maybe 2 or 3 in this thread that said that they do, or hinted at it, myself included. But why is that hard to believe? It's a booming industry and there's more spent in it year-in and year-out. Hell, during the last 2 years, I have seen a major increase in companies looking for help in the field, and the sites I worked on shattered earnings goals. I've been doing SEO, PPC, Paid Social, Website Designs & acquisitions, A/B Testing & Heatmaps, and whatever else it entails for over 10 years. It all started with an advertising company as an intern in 2010. But now my focus is 85% Digital Media Publishers + 15% Freelance clients at this point. P.S. I live in the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, PA area. So I can relate on being a Panthers fan in Eagles territory. My condolences.
  5. I work in digital marketing and advertising, but this whole thing just feels classless / petty. Tepper is fully aware how fans feel. He's either going to keep Rhule or let Rhule go. And I don't think a billboard is going to do a damn thing to affect Tepper's decision. So save the money on a billboard or donate it to a good cause where it can make a difference.
  6. I have an odd feeling that we'll be seeing some spam links dropped soon
  7. You all joke, but for a late 4th round pick, she didn't do too bad picking Chuba. Quite frankly, I'd like to see what other gems she can get in late rounds. She's already shown to be more valuable than Rhule.
  8. Alabama has a total of 54 players in the NFL, which is the most from any college in the league. 8 of them are Defensive Tackles 8 of them are Offensive Linemen (3 OTs / 3 Centers / 2 Guards) 6 of them are Linebackers You take all of the best Alabama players for the last however many years or so (on NFL rosters), and even then they can't even field a full NFL roster. Why did I even read past the thread title?
  9. Without the Panther bot, we don't get these great memes. That being said, still, yes. Also, Jay-Z.
  10. Although Joe Brady was terrible at situational play calling, I didn't expect the Offense to improve when Matt Rhule's High School Buddy / Teammate (RB) took over play calling duties. But I did kind of expect a former running back to at least make an effort to get Running Backs involved more . The answer to OC is not on the staff. But unfortunately, we don't get to make that call.
  11. That is probably the best case scenario. But chances are if somebody is trading up from 14-16 to ~7, there's a pretty solid chance that they're moving up for a QB. And, assuming we're at #16, we're likely behind a bunch of teams that could go QB. Asterisks by most likely to target QB if there's one they like. Detroit* Houston* (? - they did draft Mills) Giants* (?) Atlanta (Matt Ryan Successor?) Philadelphia (if they don't stick with Hurts. I think it's unlikely they go QB) Washington (?) Denver* New Orleans* (Currently #14) Browns (Currently #15. Baker's future is uncertain)
  12. If we keep Rhule another season, and the team does well, I will happily say I'm wrong along with most of the fanbase. Based off what we've seen the last 2 years, another season is more likely to be like a season 3 of the Seifert era where we regressed 3 straight seasons, as opposed to Season 3 of Rivera where we did see glimpses of hope in his first two.
  13. If the Offensive Line play was okay, I hope nobody ever has to see what 'bad' line play looks like in Rhule's eyes.
  14. Lex Luthor probably would make a pretty good coach
  15. I appreciate the effort, but I would bet that a petition is more likely to reach Tepper much quicker than any contact requests on the Panthers website. He absolutely knows how fans feel already, and I 100% expect a change at head coach sooner than later.
  16. As the one of the biggest optimists/benefit of the doubt members here, probably (always browsing, sometimes posting), I find it very hard to believe anybody that WANTS him as coach not to be a troll. I settled at being ready to replace him. If we finish with 7-8 wins, I wouldn't be opposed to giving him another season since we ARE improved (record wise) in year 2, so heading the right direction. And around 8-9 wins was my expectation before the season. But I'm more than okay with getting a jump on the head coach search if they release him at halftime. I do believe he's in over his head and is somehow way more nepotistic than Rivera was.
  17. This is just the glass-half-full way of saying we need to replace 4/5 of our Offensive Linemen
  18. That went down right in-front of me. And he wasn't the only one trying to get the Defense pumped up. So glad to have a real leader at the helm again.
  19. I don't think you could say we have a brand. What it should be is a ball-control offense, that takes shots off play-action when teams inch up. And a stingy Defense that attacks the QB. This is based off of our personnel. Currently we don't have a brand. We're more like a knockoff brand than anything right now. I have more faith in consistency with Cam here again. But we're not there yet.
  20. I LOVE Kittle's aggression. He goes seeking that contact. Very similar to Tremble's approach to blocking, and hopefully Tremble can continue to grow & improve. This stuff is
  21. Thanks @weyco2000, this is all great! And lines up with some tentative plans I put in place (Roaring Riot) thanks to some suggestions. Roaring Riot: Wife & I joined the Roaring Riot early this afternoon (Philadelphia affiliate ), so we'll definitely be swinging by! We considering taking the rail station, after seeing the cost of hotels within walking distance, but ended up settling on something that I think is the best of both worlds. We decided to stay at a hotel about 20 minutes (driving distance) away from the stadium since it's so much cheaper. Early that morning, we'll drive to and park at one of the hotels with valet parking 1 mile from the stadium (already reserved - $10). And then have a nice, fairly short walk to the stadium. Really appreciate everyone's feedback so far! Will be sifting through all of this over the next few days.
  22. My wife and I both work remotely. Considered Asheville as well, but the main attraction is: Area Growth & Education. We're both in the tech industry. Stuff to do Closest drive of all the areas we considered to home (7.5 hours) There's plenty of trails nearby We are big fans of the yearly beach trip, so driving distance to Virginia Beach, Outer Banks, Myrtle Beach is a major plus Not a fan of hurricane risk, so Charleston is out Needs to be within driving distance of Charlotte, too, for gamedays of course Those are just a few of the reasons behind it all.
  23. I had this on the agenda since I first visited the Carolina's back in 2002. Finally at a point where it can finally happen.
  24. We're doing carry-on only, and we already have a car reserved through Turo (essentially Airbnb for cars) about 10 minutes from the airport. So, it's just a matter of getting an Uber to the car pick-up. Wasting no time! And exhausted is just a part of reality now . Thanks! Of the three, did you personally have a preference? I heard enough words of wisdom to stay clear of Durham. And where'd you end up moving to if you don't mind me asking. Thanks again!
