Sign Armstead and draft Tyler Linderbaum
EgoDogg replied to RIPTreyLance's topic in Carolina Panthers
Nothing silly about my argument. You should absolutely take measurables into account for sure, but shouldn't dismiss a guy purely based off it. That's how you miss out on guys like Rashawn Slater. Imagine if the Bengals passed on Burrow because of his 'Tiny hands' -

Again, that's cherry picking. Look at how many ideal / prototypical centers that didn't pan out in the NFL as well. Size isn't everything. -

What does that have to do with anything. Do you think Kalil would be a 2nd rounder if there was a redraft? Do you think Steve Smith would be a 3rd rounder again, Tom Brady a 6th rounder. Just because a player was drafted in X round doesn't mean they didn't end up being a 1st round value. And many teams take high profile, impact players in round 1 who don't equate to a first round grade after playing time in the NFL. Ideally I'd like to get Linderbaum in the 10-20 range, but if he would be the last piece to anchoring down that Offensive Line, then the impact on the team is worth it at #6. -

If we don't get a tackle in FA, a trade back & Linderbaum would be my perfect scenario. As long as we keep ourselves in the window to get him. Come on, Iggles. Do us a solid and trade your two 1st rounders for spot #6. And I agree regarding measurements being irrelevant. I gave those stats after quoting / highlighting this part of Smittymoose's post: It was to prove that the size measurement is a dumb argument. -

Let's compare combine numbers.... Tyler Linderbaum Combine Numbers 6'2" 296 pounds 31 1/8 arms 10" hands Ryan Kalil Combine Numbers 6'2" 299 pounds 31 1/2 arms 10" hands Let's leave it to Matt Rhule to get too caught up in those numbers. If Linderbaum can be the next Ryan Kalil for us for the next decade, I have no problem with him at #6. I would also be fine with one of the top LT's at #6, and picking up (Browns former Center) JC Tretter if possible. -

This same world also sees a large number of women get berated for bringing up being raped / sexually assaulted, because of who it was who may have committed the act. And those who falsely accusing people of rape deserve to be held accountable as well. The fact that it's hard enough to win a case like this when it did happen, there aren't many who would take it to court in the hopes of getting a payout. All we know is that 22 women were hired to give massages and paid for sexual acts of some sort, and to some extent consensual. It's not hard to believe it might have gone further than that. But it's naive for anyone to assume guilt or innocent because we don't know jack poo. P.S. I'm pretty sure I can prove that I didn't touch your peepee. Tell me when / where it happened, and I'm fairly sure a case can be made to prove that it didn't happen. But I 100% get what you're going for.

There is a lot of misunderstanding of the law regarding this situation. The fact that he wasn't indicted doesn't mean what he's accused of didn't happen, and it's as iron clad as many make it seem. It likely means that they determined that there either wasn't a criminal act committed OR they didn't believe that it would result in a guilty verdict. The defense achieved its goal and there will be no criminal charges at this time, so he is now open to a trade / moving forward professionally right before Free Agency begins. Watson frequently, at the advice of his lawyer I'm sure, plead the 5th during this process. That is his right, and it should not be punished for being exercised. During the civil suits, he's much more likely to answer questions. If he says the wrong thing, or it casts doubt of his innocence on committing a crime, this can come back to a grand jury again. It's not a one & done. This is far from over. There are likely people from both parties that are in the wrong. Just because there was consent to some degree doesn't mean that he didn't cross the line, as well. Even if it's just one victim, that's too many and he should kiss his days in the NFL goodbye. But if it was all one big money grab, then I hope that comes back around as well. We don't have all the facts, and who knows how much we get. The NFL will paint the narrative it wants, and each of the lawyers will do the same. If you're going to make your own judgement based off the information available, use sources that have nothing to gain from the matter.

Starting a podcast company is a pretty big media announcement.

I want the best LT available, but if that means the interior of the line stays as-is, then give me Linderbaum. Most of the pressure comes from the middle, which is impossible for a QB to succeed behind. It's the more pressing need at the moment, I think. If we can get a servicable Center via FA or Trade, then give me the best LT. Otherwise, I'd like to roll with Brady at LT, Linderbaum at Center, and Moton at RT. Test whoever you want at the guard positions. Still not enough tape on Deonte Brown, but he'll hopefully get a chance to prove himself early this season & in preseason with the ones. Not a world beater OL, but probably the most logical move. Is Free Agency here yet?

I think the Panthers should give Bill Rosinski somebody's NFC championship ring from 2003 to try to get him to come back.

That's about it. Also, when did it become a game of 1-hand-touch?

Brooks' mock :Two all beef patties, special Sauce...
EgoDogg replied to top dawg's topic in Carolina Panthers
I fully agree. It's not impossible for me to get on board with a CB, but it is heavily dependent on some big moves in FA. I'm purely speaking in hypotheticals. Even if we lose Jackson, and Gilmore, rolling with Horn, Bouye, Taylor, CJ Henderson isn't something I'm fully against. ESPECIALLY with the QB situation in the South if Brady retires. Not the best depth, but it wouldn't be dire. CB is one of the last positions I would consider on the team at #6 in the draft. -

Only way I can maybe be sold on this is if the savings on Gilmore and Jackson is used to bring in a Legit lineman (or two) in FA pre-draft. -
Frankie Luvu received 2 All-Pro votes for ST
EgoDogg replied to Ricky Spanish's topic in Carolina Panthers
I hear their old coach is available, too. He has a better NFL coaching record than ours, so that's another area we can upgrade! On-topic: Luvu was fun to watch all season, and I'm glad his pre-season performance carried over. Loved the pickup after seeing him on the field. -
Just going to approach this season hoping something clicks. I don't expect it to, but I still would love to see Rhule succeed. I'll still watch the games, but unless I see something to be excited about early on, I'm probably not going to get overly invested. Which is something that doesn't happen easily.

There are certainly plenty of reasons to argue for keeping Rhule. This being one of them. But I still think it's the wrong decision. Less potential competition next year Why waste paying two guys, when the bed is basically already made for next season & lack of draft capital. We can reset after next season with our draft picks back (assuming they're not traded away), and have tons in salary cap space If you give a guy like Rhule 3 years, then that's encouraging for new head coaches I still think it's the wrong decision to keep him, and would rather take the chance on someone, even if it's not our top choice. Hell, they fail miserably next year and we're exactly where we'd be had we kept Rhule, anyways.

Matt Rhule keeps making the Panthers worse and worse

I figured you were a long-time fan. Just busting and looking for a way to knock Rhule. Hopefully at least 1/3 of them start not sucking soon. -

You chose your teams as well as Rhule chose his QBs. (sorry) -
1 - This never fails to make me laugh 2 - It's practically the same thing P.S. Happy off-season. Sorry for the thread.

Robby had over 1,000 yards in the 2020 season. And about half of that was after the catch (514 YAC in 2020) / intermediate routes. In the 2020 season, he was 79th in the league in yards per reception at 11.5 / catch. He was also 66th Receiving yards per target at 8.1. So, it's not necessarily a deep threat / passing issue.

Me too. I'm surprised more carriers with Ball Security issues aren't coached it. High & tight.
