The reason Cam isn't in a hurry to sign a contract
GoobyPls replied to GoobyPls's topic in Carolina Panthers
And your acting as if Gettleman is the one behind all our success. Rivera is a pretty bad game manger I'll give you that, but evaluator? depth chart? Oh I forgot Gettleman prize FA acquisitions Cason, Decoud, Harper helped Rivera out so much last season. What was Rivera suppose to do start Norman right away even though he was our worst corner the previous season? Throw Bene to the wolves? find a way some how to replace our premier pass rusher with a rookie DE? -

Ah yes it was Gettleman master plan for our division to suck and us being able to make a playoff appearance with a 7-8-1 record. And all those things you mention had nothing to do with the players and coaches its all Gettleman The lack of respect you have for Rivera is mind numbing. Rivera has been in asked to make chicken salad out of chicken s**t, Munnerlynn and Mitchell looked great under Rivera, they leave and automatically become mediocre. Johnson and Hardy where a bunch of nobodies before Rivera arrived. Norman and Bene two mid-late round picks from small schools who where an after thought in the draft, Rivera was the one who coached them up, changing Luke to MLB another Rivera idea. You act as if Gettleman is drafting these can't miss prospects. -
The reason Cam isn't in a hurry to sign a contract

All I'm saying is for if they really wanted to can get Crabtree or Johnson even with the small amount of money we have. I know it might come back to haunt us in the future but for once I would like them say you know what screw it where gonna give Cam a legitimate number 2 and see what he can do, these are guys who have put up 1000 yards with Alex Smith, Kaepernick and Fitzpatrick as their QB's. If it means taking a small risk so be it. You never know one of those guys comes here and becomes a legit threat and we end up keeping him. -

And I think that reason "might" be cause he feel like the panthers aren't trying hard enough to build around him. -

You have to take everything into perspective 4 of the 5 teams you listed had rookie QB of course the aren't going to build around them immediately but I highly doubt if those rookies turn out to be franchise QB's is going to take them as long as the panthers. And the 49ers have tried Kaepernick just sucks, they got Johnson, Lloyd, Boldin and now Smith in a 2 year period. I was hoping the panthers front office is looking to win NEXT season not 3 years from now, I want a monster offense next season, I want Cam to feel like he's our future. -

Still doesn't change the fact it looks like Wilson, Luck even Tannehill might get new contracts before Cam. If Cam was drafted in 2010 it would been more understandable since he would already have gotten a big pay day. -

Sorry I can't agree with every move the so called savior makes, maybe we all should agree on everything. When QB's who came into a league in the same year and a year before are already getting contracts while your teams QB's seems to be ok with his 5th year option, I think its OK to have a little doubt in my mind. But that's just me -

I keep forgetting Gettleman can do no wrong, he can't lie, its impossible -

I'm pretty sure he lied, or just miss calculated how much cap we had or JR just doesn't want to fork over any guaranteed money. But don't tell that to the yes-men in here. -

Gettleman can teach him a thing or two about lying *cough "shopping at dollar store" Looks like we went shopping at Wal-Mart this year -

I'm confused, your comparing Cam whose going to his 5th year to a bunch of guys going into there sophomore years. If anything you just highlighted my point Cam's situation is so bad he's being compared to a bunch of rebuilding teams Notice how you don't bring up Luck or Wilson -

GoobyPls replied to GoobyPls's topic in Carolina Panthers
I was talking about Johnson who they cut before they were hit with the cap. And lets be honest here none of those guys are going to get huge contracts, people are acting as if we have to break the bank to sign one of these guys. You guys keep saying we're gonna have so much money next off season why not gamble on a guy like Crabtree or Johnson? -

GoobyPls replied to GoobyPls's topic in Carolina Panthers
Texans no, KC no, Vikings no ( we're making threads about Patterson LMAO), Rams no The leaves the raiders who are in complete rebuilding mode, the Seahawks who have the best running game and better line, and the Ravens who are bound to do something sooner or later like they always do, cause that's what SB winnings teams do they build through the draft and free agency -

Overnight? he's going into his 3rd season Lets say Cam does leave, why the hell should Gettleman keep his job? And if you were Cam is there a reason to stay? I mean really what indications has a team given you they want to build around you. Don't give me the cap excuse, if really wanted to win the upcoming season he can backload a contract to Crabtree or Johnson if they don't work out we cut them next season without effecting the cap the same way the niners did. -

WHAT? name 5 other teams with a worst WR core. Ginn whose our second best receiver couldn't beat a rookie to play the slot., that speaks volumes to where are talent level is at. -

GoobyPls replied to GoobyPls's topic in Carolina Panthers
relying rookies and cheap FA have to somehow produce at consistent level have become the norm around here. We expect every rookie we draft to become a legit starter who ready to contribute to a playoff contender right away. Instead of going with a proven commodity like Crabtree or Johnson we want Bersin and Philly -

Maybe Gettleman can play some QB if Cam leaves, cause from what I'm getting he's the second coming of Jesus and can do no wrong even if it means low balling our franchise QB. -

If we tag Cam its gonna be 20 mill, I can just imagine the outrage already. -
The reason Cam isn't in a hurry to sign a contract
GoobyPls replied to GoobyPls's topic in Carolina Panthers
Cam has the one of the 5 worst receiving cores in the NFL, one of the 5 worst O-lines in the NFL and takes Cam's rushing yards away and he the panthers rank 25th in rushing -
Hopefully I'm dead wrong and he signs tomorrow Everyone read about Cam wanting to wait until Wilson and Luck to set the market but personally I think Cam and his agent aren't gonna sign until we actually try surrounding him with talent. You think Cam isn't noticing how every other team at least tries to surround there young franchise QB with talent. People in here seem to be more worried about 2 or 3 years into the future than actually winning next season, Cam might not want to be for the future if we keep low balling him. Same goes with Rivera, on paper we have one of the least talented teams in the league and we expect to make the playoff year and year out with a bunch of bargain FA and mid and late round draft picks?
-
Any chance we sign Andre, Cecil Shorts, Stevie Johnson or Crabtree?
-
I think we still need to add at least 3 more WR, as it is right now panthers still have one of the weakest receiving cores in the league. Ginn couldn't bet out a rookie last season and people are rejoicing about him signing with us, that puts things into perspective.

Brian Hartline and Chris Canty to be released
GoobyPls replied to Mr Mojo Risin's topic in Carolina Panthers
I would take almost any receiver at a vet minimum, so that isn't saying much, The Falcons released Douglas today who is basically a faster Hartline. I would also rather have Denerius Moore if you want to go cheap And for those saying that's he's fast, please stop. Go look at any Dolphins game, he's not fast. -

GoobyPls replied to Mr Mojo Risin's topic in Carolina Panthers
You guys serisouly want Hartline? This has to be a joke I would rather the panthers inherent Wallace's ridiculous contract than sign Hartline. There are so many decent receivers In free agency I would pick over him, -
Is 'BPA, or be damned' a flaw with Gettleman's draft philosophy?
GoobyPls replied to top dawg's topic in Carolina Panthers
All I know is when Byron Bell is your LT and your number 2 WR is a 32 year old no other team wanted, you draft for need.
