teams have extra players just to add flexibility to the practices (two people practicing returns for example) or to fill out their emergency contact list, just to make sure their preferred guy doesn't go around the locker room sexually assaulting his team mates like charles haley. every team has a different protocol the idea that every team brings in competition for their kicker every season is just lunacy.
