electro's horse replied to Bear Hands's topic in Carolina Panthers
Barnwell is espn’s stalking horse. https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/46942577/2026-nfl-offseason-quarterback-trades-cuts-retirements-murray-tagovailoa-fields Evaluation time might be up The end of Year 3 is a critical time for first-round picks at quarterback, as their organizations will need to decide whether they want to guarantee their fifth-year options before the start of the following season. The class of 2023 has two obvious choices, as the Texans are going to pick up C.J. Stroud's option, while the Colts will decline that same opportunity for Anthony Richardson Sr. The third might still be up in the air. Bryce Young, Carolina Panthers 2026 cash: $5.9 million (all guaranteed) Future guarantees: None (potential fifth-year option for 2027) Savings if traded before June 1: $5.9 million in cap and cash Savings if cut before mid-March: None Young's promising end to 2024 hasn't led to a step forward in 2025. Young's sack rate is down, and his success rate as a passer is up, which are both positives. But his interception rate has risen for the second consecutive season. The 2023 No. 1 pick is averaging just 5.6 yards per attempt, the worst mark in the league for any full-season starter. Offensive line injuries haven't helped, but Young has only sevendeep completions all season, forcing the Panthers to either rely on big runs by Rico Dowdle or dink-and-dunk down the field with their passing attack. Young has the fourth-worst off-target rate in the NFL on passes that aren't deep attempts, though, making it difficult for Carolina to sustain drives with steady completions. After the season, the Panthers will need to decide whether they want to pick up Young's roughly $25.6 million fifth-year option for 2027, which will become fully guaranteed in the process. While that's not an exorbitant sum for a quarterback, I'm not sure Young's play would support that choice. If Carolina does decide to pick up the option, he will have a meaningful role on the 2026 roster, either as the unquestioned starter or at least as the favorite to win the job. If Carolina declines the option, Young's future probably will be elsewhere. He might be given a fourth year to prove himself and play well enough to earn an extension, as Daniel Jones did after the Giants declined his fifth-year option in New York, but the coach and general manager who paid so much to acquire Young in the first place aren't in the building anymore. The Panthers could trade Young to another team, bring in a new starting QB and move Young into a backup role, or (most likely) acquire someone to compete with Young in training camp next summer. -
If you adjust for drops Trevor is still bottom third in most categories. I have a good friend who’s a really knowledgeable jags fan and she says overall he’s just mid. Jags have a ton of problems that he can’t overcome. Plus he’s never been the same since the injury against Houston. Throwing motion changed and everything.

Probably not a worse city in the country for Stetson to be drafted to -

I was told by posters on this board that he just executed the game plan and did what was needed to win. -

The panthers would probably have to add something. They’d be trading away a qb they don’t think can start anymore for one they think can. -

Also idgaf I’ll say it; Bryce just needs to come out and be done with it It’s 2025. No one cares. Become the first openly gay starting qb and coast off into post career sideline work. -

Bryce has been pretty consistent this season -
It took the leadership council two weeks to approve the change at running back. mill of the gods grinds slowly etc

You also have to extend him and probably deal/cut Bryce -
Defenses adjust weird

Also Wilson was clearly uncomfortable around black people which is a problem if you’re trying to be in the nfl at all, let alone play qb. If your brothers and sisters look like this you need to get your ass transferred to LSU or something

I was actually at the season opener vs the jets and Wilson had a couple throws in the game that were definitely “oh my” moments. He could definitely spin it shame about everything else

When he was a passing game coordinator in Seattle he was getting paid 10k speaker fees at evangelical marriage recharge conferences. at the time he was cheating on his wife every weekend and spending his per diems on strippers while she couldn’t afford groceries. this is in their book. to say nothing about what he and Brad Idzik were doing

Rozeboom is on the council, a guy on a one year league minimum deal who played special teams for the Rams last season. Leadership Council honestly sounds like Evangelical Church popularity contest poo and sure enough..

The Losses 2024 Week 3's blowout win against the Raiders was followed by an absolute dud at home against the Bengals. Lost by ten points. Hurricane Helene hit and I also blame Dave for this. After a dominating 20-17 victory over the Giants in London with a game winning Daniel Jones fumble in overtime, and a bye week, the Panthes returned home and caught a team napping on them. Narrow loss to KC by three points. A week after defeating the Cardinals 36-30 in OT in a hideous game, the Panthers went to Tampa and got shellacked. Lost by thirty-four points. 2025 The Panthers sabotaged the Falcons radio equipment and had an enjoyable 30-0 win against Atlanta. Then Drake Maye Drake'd all over them and they lost by twenty-nine points, with some gabage time making it more palatable. Panthers had an 3 game winning streak against the absolute dregs of the league, ending with the Jets. The next week, the Bills blew their doors off and beat them by thirty-one points, and it wasn't even that close. Finally, Panthers snuck out a weird win in Lambeau, Victory Monday, and got beat by the Saints by ten points. Overall Canales win percentage after a win is about 36% or so. It's sort of difficult to compare that to the rest of the league. The Jets, for example, have won 100% of their games after a win this year. His career average is good enough for about 21st in the league this year. He's better than last year when. I think that can be explained by two things primarily. The first is it was a young, bad team last year. This year, they're squeaking out wins against bad teams and then getting steamrolled by good ones, the Packers not withstanding (though after last night who knows). The teams the Panthers played in their 3 game winning streak don't exactly lend themselves to tales of valor and bravery. Margin The average margin of victory in the regular season is 9.5 points, with 25% of games being decided by 7 points or fewer. With the exception of the KC game, at home, coming off a Bye, all of Dave's losses have exceeded the league average. Not only that, but the Panthers have gotten destroyed, and I want to draw attention to that second Bucs game in 2024. They were the only good team that saw this offense twice and they completely blew the Panthes doors down the second game. Pats and Bills boatraced us. Panthers have a higher margin of loss than league average in general, but after wins it's substantially higher than even that. Dave Canales can't handle success Gotta learn how to put the news clippings down. Canales is a confessed narcissist, so I imagine he spends a lot of time basking in it. Must have felt great after beating the Packers for someone like him. Unfortunatley the Saints didn't give a poo and came in and smacked the Panthers right in the mouth. They don't win very often after wins, and when they lose, more often than not they're not competitive.

Dak was off a lot of teams boards because of the DUI. Point stands tho
