  1. From my best friend who is a die hard UGA fan who follows the team religiously. He’s a 6’7” baby. He’s an old faithful. Always ready to play even with little nagging injuries and performs well through them too. I like it but also happy the lions got Miller
  2. offensive line specifically doesn’t matter that much because you need to get bigger to play at the main schools and people aren’t dropping huge amounts of money on an 18 year old who’s going to start and if you’re a high end prospect you’re not going to UNC for 500k instead of Alabama. and there’s only so many spots with nfl caliber staffs to train up o line talent. And then there’s stuff like the big 12 playing a style of football that doesn’t translate at all to the nfl and high end prospects avoiding it like the plague, money be damned. I cant think of an instance UGA has lost an offensive lineman to a school because they could pay him more or he wanted to start early, but I don’t really follow recruiting that closely anymore. I mean Georgias problem last year was the qb, not offensive or defensive line depth. And Georgia qb problems is just a weird quirk with Kirby. the main player UGA has lost to NIL money is Carson Beck and good riddance
  3. NIL doesn’t hurt teams like Georgia or Ohio state because they’re legacy programs that have infinite money anyway with top tier staffs and it just let them pay players out in the open. it hurts teams like Clemson who no one really gives a poo about and has a moron head coach. And I guess every west coast team that isn’t Oregon.
  4. There’s nothing gimmicky about Bobo’s offense. limited? Very idiotic? Yes child like? Oh yes but at the end of the day it’s just a dumbed down version of Kirby’s preferred murder ball and that’s fine if they have an actual qb for when they get to the playoffs and need to complete a forward pass. I think you’re a little harsh on freeling but mostly correct.
  5. Moton’s contract isn’t real he’s renegotiated that thing more times than Shaq Thompson did. It’s fine. He’s retiring a panther and will always fix his contact unless we ship him off or cut him.
  6. Another way to look at this pick is does it help the panthers score more points or help the defense to keep the other team from scoring points? That was my main concern with another WR or Sediq; there just aren’t that many more points to pick up in this offense with Bryce at qb at best (worst?), Freeling keeps the scoring capacity similar, and that only happens if your FA pick doesn’t pan out or Father Time catches up to Moton, but he’s not THAT old and has been healthy for most of his career so I don’t anticipate him just collapsing. I don’t know just draft CJ Allen tonight and I’ll quit complaining.
  7. Nah it’s just the regular cycle of losing players as they develop/leave early/get hurt etc. you’re gonna have down years UGA will be fine until Kirby finally has that coronary aneurysm he’s been working on And they do this with some of the consistently worst qb play of any of the major conference schools. Carson Beck lmao
  8. I mean I might be wrong. It was over two decades ago. Just glancing at the draft I only seem to remember Marcus trufant being spoken about which makes sense because the year before they were gonna take Jammer if Peppers had gone to Detroit.
  9. Since 2011 the panthers have won more playoff games than the Steelers. just a fun fact.
  10. Also come on don’t compare gross to Remmers that’s not a serious argument.
  11. They’re totally different players and played in completely different offenses. Remember Meyer wasn’t at Utah when gross was there. They only won five games his last year. Gross just blew everyone away with his technique once the coaches got their hands on him and was a draft riser. I remember everyone saying the panthers needed a tackle but he was something of a surprise pick back then. this just seems like he’s big and huge and played at UGA which again is FINE but it doesn’t help you win now. also true story gross was in Charlotte the day of the draft. By chance my family went out to PF Chang’s at Phillips place that night and he was there with his family. I remember thinking we just drafted him and he looked really dorky.
  12. Morgan also gave a very questionable, risky contract to a pass rush specialist which is what you do when you think you’re a player away. Improve the team sure but that and a developmental offensive tackle doesn’t make sense to me. now if we’re hoping we’re building the team and line for the next qb after Bryce puts out another top 26 performance this year then yeah I’ll be less mad but Morgan hasn’t struck me as some Machiavellian operator yet.
  13. I dunno I just generally think first rounders need to start, with the exception of qb. Theres plenty of rounds in the draft to take developmental tackles and hope they pan out. We literally just signed one in free agency. obviously no sane person wanted another wide receiver or sadiq.
  14. Gross was literally a starting tackle on a Super Bowl team and they wouldn’t have been there without him. You’d have had Matt willig or something. He was a swing tackle coming out and switched between right and left multiple times in his career. He was drafted to play right tackle because Todd Steussie was still playing well when he wasn’t getting personal fouls. Gross was an absolute technician when he came out of school, which is the reason he was so good for so long even though he didn’t have the best RAAS score or whatever. And Julius peppers is literally one of the best players of all time. Of course gross was going to struggle against him in camp.
  15. Granted this is a Very Hot Take but this is the reaction from Reddit’s UGA board We’re used to having 3-4 first round picks, sometimes more, especially on defense. If Freeling truly was our best player on the roster, which clearly the NFL feels is the case. I think it makes sense we only got as far as we did. And I think maybe even shows how good of a coaching job Kirby Smart and his staff did last year. He turned a team where the best player on the field was a turnstile and turned them into conference champions and had an 11 win regular season. That’s very difficult to do this day and age.
  16. Yeah no freshman offensive lineman is starting at UGA. Thats not a hit on him.
  17. Yeah but bro how many Georgia games do you watch a year? I’m not trying to be dismissive or whatever, I’m seriously asking. Kirby Smart Murder Ball is running it until the other team is dead then throw off play action. That stat is very misleading. also who’s the best pass rusher he went up against this season that got drafted in the first round? I guess just glancing at it would have been that kid from auburn which….ok
  18. In theory year three of a head coach with a qb still essentially on his rookie deal the year after making the playoffs is when a team is poised from a talent and financial position to make a big run. Obviously, Canales runs the weakest offense in the nfl, Bryce is Bryce, and their playoff was the reward for their lose and get in game Plus he’s not even starting unless something unforeseen happens Draft lineman all day, draft UGA players all day, it’s fine. He’ll be a good nfl player. But this team needed an impact day one first round nfl defensive starter, and they got a developmental tackle.
  19. I’m a Georgia fan. I’ve watched almost every snap of this kids career. Hell be fine. But he’s not Broderick jones or anything he’s not throwing around Alabama players this is the wrong player at the wrong time for where the team should theoretically be. and if we’re prognosticating potential tackle injuries, this is less about ickey and more about Moton.
  20. At fuging Georgia dude, come on. they run the ball 45 times a game.
  21. Year four of still affordable “franchise” qb is definitely when you draft swing tackles that won’t be able to start the first year. The panthers are technically in win now mode I’m a UGA fan. He’ll be fine but he’s not ready. This feels panicky to me.
  22. I would love to read about this because afaik they would not have harvested his Patella tendon for an acl repair with an NFL player. That’s robbing Peter to pay Paul.
