Are they biting on the action or did they just read it correctly and bryce still went there. this is one on one, you throw this ball. Even the free safety is staring at the check down and since this is probably the best defense in the nfl I imagine he’s not just forgetting how to play if Bryce is actually making reads or trusts his arm he throws this here

Of course defenses are playing nickel and dime. The panthers run the ball out of 31 sets all the time. You still have to have personnel match. Like here you, y is manned up, I think seam receiver is too, and the whole defense is like “lmao Bryce”

I’ve said this before and there’s some better work on this on another forum I post on but I don’t think Bryce is making reads. I think he’s told in the headset what part of the field to throw to, and if a defender appears he’s just supposed to find a check down. Or if there’s a busted coverage he can throw it but if not check that baby down That isn’t historically what going through progressions means. this picture is bryce_offense.jpg staring right at the receiver manned up to see if the defender just like gets transported to the negative zone and if not throw to that check down the other way behind the LOS. best thing about this is how every single linebackers and all but one DB are ignoring the one on one and staring at the check down. Guess where bryce went here. Edit* I guess defender top of the screen is sprinting over to cover the seam, hard to tell.

Also it was the Ryan Lindley cardinals. the rams are slightly better and this time they’re not going to be holding back.

I’m sure Bryce refused to throw at the combine because of how good his arm is, actually. also because he was a Panda Express Elemental at the time.

He won’t “take the bait” unless they’re about 30 yards from the end zone and the safeties are single high. Thats the max distance Bryce can accurately put a ball, and the boundaries of the end zone protect him from a bad pass. It’s also easier to throw a ball as hard as you can vs in the medium range. You can overhand a basketball as far as you can to an area more consistently than you can hit free throws, for example. and yeah they absolutely cannot survive turnovers.

Thats more an out or a zero route (they called it a smoke route when Clausen was throwing them to smith) and that isnt something he should be throwing either. That only works if the db is playing off and the qb has the arm to get it in there they only do that with Bryce when they have trips right and a number advantage. If he just turned and threw you’d have a repeat of peppers housing Pickles when he was with Chicago.

it pains me not to poo on bryce but I don't think this is his fault. I just don't think he's actually making multiple reads, he's told where to throw it every play, and sometimes its XL's turn in the pass catching rotation. Canales favors fresh legs and his precious scheme over using actual good players. XL is a decent blocker, and these passes only work if he's been on the field blocking all game. Conversely, the runs to his side only work if he's a legit threat to catch passes.

We really need to dig in to Bryce’s performances against McNeese state to prove he can throw deep.

Why do people keep insisting Bryce is intelligent? Is it just because ESPN keeps saying it? The panthers are running the most stripped down offense in the league. People need to start considering that’s all Bryce is capable of, mentally as well as physically.

Evero was kept around because the job is career suicide and he was already under contract.
