  1. Actually upon further review it not actually clear what would happen. Google AI (I know) says “it may” lead them to being an ERFA again.
  2. As a returner. and are you really bringing up pro bowls like that matters
  3. You’re right about the team not seeming to value him. I mean poo they let him hit waivers and were starting XL for most of the year. maybe he laughed when Canales thought Torrey Lanez was someone from his younger days.
  4. You are incorrect. RFA only kicks in after three years accrued service. If he held out in 2026 he’d only have two accrued seasons and would then become an unrestricted free agent and could sign anywhere. thats very unlikely of course as the panthers would certainly trade him, but you fundamentally misunderstand the situation.
  5. You’re right. Maybe Coker actually wants to make less next season than our 40 year old long snapper.
  6. Not a single person in this thread has suggested he get “top league wideout money”
  7. You’re the first person to mention tee Higgins Josh Palmer on the other hand….
  8. Teams would be interested in a sign and trade for him. To flip this around, the panthers would then be in a position where they either get nothing from him and lose him in 2027 or trade him to recoup value. or do the most panthers thing which is do a desperation extension after he’s held out for half the season and gotten fat.
  9. So a one year deal for 12 mil, basically? Darnell Mooney got that this year. if I was his agent I’d hold out and get a sign and trade worked out. Tampering doesn’t exist anymore. I mean Jesus the bills gave Josh Palmers bum ass 3 years 29 mil in 2025. He put up comparable numbers in an actual nfl offense. The top free agent WR in 2026, assuming Jerry locks down Pickens, is looking like morbidly obese Deebo Samuel. his agent should tell him to hold out while he sends pictures of XL to Dan Morgan every day.
  10. Or he holds out. Happens literally all the time. If nothing else, pride shouldn’t allow him to play for a team paying him less than Xavier legette.
  11. So he holds out in 2027 instead? I wouldn’t take that. Panthers are facing a murderers row next season and were already primed to regress anyway. and again, gotta strike while you have leverage. He has it right now and the panthers don’t.
  12. Probably, yeah. but if you look at the free agent WRs this year (absolutely dire) and what other WRs have gotten (Garrett Wilson lmao) he’s gonna want more.
  13. Jalen is the most productive receiver in the league per routes run. now obviously this is just routes run/total yards and the scheme can play havoc with this calculation but he’s in good company. Puca is number 2. im not sure that x axis is relevant, but my god Metcalf is just getting mugged. Per next gen stats Jalen reached the top speed in the playoffs. Newton’s first law of motion stays winning. Coker was also the best looking player on the field against the rams. To me he looks just like a young anquan boldin. Coker made just over 830k in 2025. He is an Exclusive rights free agent in 2026. This means if the panthers tender him with a one year contract based on the league minimum, he has to play here or nowhere else. He’s not allowed (wink wink) to negotiate with other teams In 2025 the ERFA was 1.03 million, or 3.1% what Joe person claims Bryce Young is worth annually. three years is the cutoff to become vested in the NFL pension, with higher benefits per year accrued after that. For those that have never heard of a pension, back in the day before boomers “two in the heart, one in the head’d” future generations, your job handled your retirement. Three years of service also unlocks a whopping five years of health insurance; big deal for a player who still qualifies for his parents coverage. Great system, NFL. Roman gladiators were treated better. Electro, I just became a fan when Bryce got here and I can only name three people on the team. Why does this matter? NFL players don’t make money for very long. 40% never get a second contract. A season ending injury can happen at any moment, especially when your qb is a blimp commander who can’t see over the offensive line. Ickey was in line for a massive payday that he absolutely earned. He lost generational wealth (Chris rock joke here) with that patellar injury and who knows if he’ll ever play the same again. He’s certainly not going to get that new contract which is rough but it’s the way things go. Coker absolutely should not play another down for the Carolina panthers without a new contract. He just had a huge coming out on the national stage and has the numbers and tape to back it up. He's the best wide receiver on the team. Yes I know tet got (a very chintzy) thousand yards but Coker is pound for pound the better player. And that’s saying something because Jalen loves him some orange chicken. If he was a free agent this year he’d be the top WR on the market. Panthers have a lot of (honestly very easy) cap choices to make. For whatever reason they’ve already verbally committed to Bryce’s fifth year and are floating a three year extension. They’ve started hemorrhaging offensive linemen, soul of the team JJ Jansen will need his 1.4 million if he comes back, and of course you gotta lock down Leadership Council stalwart Christian Rozeboom. I would argue that instead of giving the worst qb in the league over the past three years another fuging dime you lock up and reward Jalen Coker. This shows the rest of the team that production is valued, regardless of draft position, and keeps Jalen in the building and team training program. Again, Jalen likes to eat. Will the panthers recognize this? I wish I could say the panthers head coach is good at evaluating wide receivers but….yeah. Also Canales let him clear waivers to begin with. Anyway Jalen should be the top contract priority fug Bryce fug Canales Hail Satan
  14. Oh man that reeks of desperation. who the fug is he going to hire? He can’t even bring back Steve Wilks
  15. I mean in his defense there was a good team in his way a lot of those years. Sucks but you can’t control a top 5 all time qb being in his prime against you. Same way the early 90s chiefs couldn’t get past the bills.
  16. I think a lot of people look back with rose tinted glasses at the McDermott defense years. They were one of the worst in the league his first season, and their ascendancy had a lot to do with Gettleman finally drafting some defensive tackles (Hurneys most glaring flaw during his first time as GM) and landing one of the best defenders of his generation. Plus Thomas Davis’ turning from tissue paper into tungsten steel. he used very simple concepts in the secondary. It was so easy that courtland finnegan showed up off the street after tillmans injury in 2015 and was starting that week. 2015 was also a year where teams fooled themselves into thinking Josh Norman was the best db in the nfl. I can’t prove this obviously but I really think he made one insane interception against the saints in week 2 or 3 (and it was a fuging sick interception to be fair) and teams just freaked out and decided he was early 90s Deion. I mean he was mentioned in songs by JayZ for crying out loud Prior to 2015 he had one promising season, was benched for one, and then never came close to that lvl of success again even when he reunited with McDermott in Buffalo. he was benefitted from kuechly being so good playing MLB that the middle of the field for twenty yards was a no go zone for other teams. mcdermott was also running Rivera’s defense. I think at the end of the day he was always more of a GM type coach and not a strict XO guy, an accusation that has followed him to buffalo. he would never come here to play second fiddle to Canales, who’s a complete fraud. He also probably needs a year off just to reload. I can’t imagine getting knifed like that after making Buffalo relevant for the first time in a quarter century. 2027 will be the year McDermott returns and he hires Luke as his DC. Print the shirts.
  17. Absolutely a Top Ten Anime Betrayals moment I bet Brady was the choice all along. The didn’t exactly cast a wide net
  18. He absolutely did not and there were even reports pre draft he played at 165.
  19. jets are closing in on their next OC and it's Frank Reich. Bro is set to make 9 mil this year from David Tepper so its all about the love of the game with him. Wonder if this gig cancels out his NDA and he can talk about the Bryce pick.
  20. Don’t they do a draft now like it’s not even by conference anymore
