You are incorrect. RFA only kicks in after three years accrued service. If he held out in 2026 he’d only have two accrued seasons and would then become an unrestricted free agent and could sign anywhere. thats very unlikely of course as the panthers would certainly trade him, but you fundamentally misunderstand the situation.
