Webb has looked bad, but, he hasn't had any time in the pocket. Not all him. I've never cared too much for him though.

Especially when that particular receiver does things like... I mean, it's only two of the best DB's in the game. Nobody can make every play.

Jonathan Martin Retiring from Football
Nick_81 replied to OnlyPantherFaninMaine's topic in Carolina Panthers
ESPN 730 @ESPN730 14m14 minutes agoCharlotte, NCPerson: "From the people I talked to, Martin's injury wasn't season ending. He chose not to do rehab it and decided to retire" -
I used to feel like this was an EP offense, but really it's not. If you look back on last season, you can see the Coryell philosophy shine right through. We weren't taking what the defense gave us. It was a straight up, pound the ball, run play-action, and attack vertically. The problem was, we had guys like Cotch and Avant running those vertical routes for the first half of the season. It wasn't very successful, due to personnel, but you could definitely see it. I think it will become pretty evident this season.

He has no clue. This will be an interesting answer...

Well, he specifically said it wouldn't be fast paced. It does give Cam time to get to the line, read the defense, and make adjustments accordingly though. Instead of the typical 4 seconds left on the clock, when running Shula huddle.

He got pretty fired up. Good listen. https://soundcloud.com/wfnz-610-am/ron-rivera-i-dont-care-what-national-pundits-say-about-team-6-24

I see what you're saying, but I still feel like it would be advantageous. We already run two deep in the backfield w/ two wide quite a lot. Normally, it's Tolbert, but with him being hurt a lot last season, we had to run with Dickson, Williams, etc. lead blocking. They weren't looking to pass much out of those formations either. You put a guy like Ward in there, and your run game is instantly improved. Defenses aren't currently built to handle a guy like that, and he's easily going to clear out most LB's. That instantly eliminates another level of the defense, and we all know it's not easy for a DB to take Stew out 1-on-1. To me, it's the same thing we've been doing, so it makes sense to have a punisher in when we run those sets. Plus, from what tidbits I've heard, he's been catching pretty well out of the backfield.

Not necessarily. You would still have two wide receivers, Olsen, and your running back on the field. That's four options right there. If the FB has any ability to catch a pass, you win.

I'd be all for that poo. Too much focus on our passing game to begin with. We try to be a run first offense anyway, and this would only help that... in a tremendous way. You get defenses worried about a guy like Ward coming out of the backfield, with the receiving corps we have(err, think we'll have), and I believe panic will be widespread. Most defenses won't have the personnel to compensate. It opens up a poo ton of options, because they will have to focus on trying to stop it.

It certainly looks better on paper. I feel pretty confident in our interior, and Remmers is definitely an upgrade over Chandler. I'm telling myself that Oher is an upgrade over Bell. It seems he should be, but we won't know for sure until game time. He definitely acts like he's very happy to be back with Matsko.

Yeah, but Ealy was a rookie, and Alexander was high, so he defaulted to starter.

Carolina Panthers Mini Camp Notes - June 18
Nick_81 replied to Jeremy Igo's topic in Carolina Panthers
Nice work. Curious to know the reason for moving Remmers in and out at center. I wonder if they think he could be an eventual Kalil replacement, if Williams steps up at RT. Probably over thinking it though...- 23 replies

Silatolu and Trusnik was the other one, but was broken up quickly. Punches thrown in both skirms.

At the same time though, all of these guys are "fighting" for a position on the roster. Sure, they need to gel, and be a "brotherhood," but at it's core, they're all trying to secure their spot on the roster. Tempers will flare, and backing down shows weakness. Even if the coaches don't see it that way, others may. This can lead to a lack of respect between team mates, and cause problems. Human nature at it's best(or worst?)

Sounds like Oher is to. I'm so ready to see how he looks when they get pads on. No homo...

Carolina Panthers @Panthers 33m33 minutes agoThings got a little chippy in practice today. Rivera: “It’s disappointing. I think the heat got the best of us." I feel the opposite of Rivera. I don't think it's disappointing at all. I think you need to have people showing they aren't going to be pushed around, by anyone. Obviously, you don't want anyone doing something stupid, and getting hurt. You do want that "I won't back down from anyone" mentality though.

I'm not just talking about that singular catch. You'll notice him "baby jump," unnecessarily, on many of his catches. Even in this vine, he doesn't have to jump to catch that ball. He just has to keep his stride, and doing that would enable him to get up field faster, and get an extra few yards. I'm not saying he didn't ever turn up field for yac. I'm saying that he's hindering himself from being able to get more, by not staying in stride and/or landing awkwardly from baby jumping. Keep watching him. You'll see it.
-
KB has always jumped when he catches the ball, no matter where it's placed. You'll see it on a majority of his catches. I was hoping they would try to work that out of him, because, as you can see in the vine, it hinders his ability to turn up field for extra yards. You can see his feet land awkwardly near the sidelines, not able to turn up field naturally. Compare to Funchess, who's already going up field, as KB is just coming down with the ball from his little jump.
-
I would assume an offensive assistant first, as preparation for an OC position. Of course, there's always a chance that another team wants him for such a position, before it comes up here. In which case, he'll probably leave for the opportunity. It's worth noting though, that Ramsdell was the "senior offensive assistant," and retired after the season. That position hasn't been filled, and may not be, but it's an option.
-
Which is the most likely scenario.

Cotchery could be pushed out by Bersin as the pre-season/season get rolling. They're the same type of player, but Bersin is bigger, which we know our staff covets. If he keeps doing what he's doing, he could easily win the spot, veteran presence be damned. I think he'd be a great #4, and have no issues at all with him in that position.

49ers third-year FS Eric Reid said he contemplated retirement
Nick_81 replied to Ja Rhule's topic in Carolina Panthers
Any idiot corner, or safety, that thinks they can drop their head on a full speed Toldozer without consequence, needs to seriously consider retirement. They're brain dead already. -
I believe it was a kickoff return. Not muff, but he got rocked on the return, and fumbled.
