If... AR drops to 9, do you take him then?
Kentucky Panther replied to musicman's topic in Carolina Panthers
I agree with this. I don’t think this is likely though, and I would be happy to see the Panthers make a move if the staff feels strongly about any of the top 4 -
Our last three starting QBs on this list. Yikes.

I get everyone is on the AR train. But we have to stop with the idea that Levis had more help at Kentucky than AR did at Florida. That just isn’t true. Any recruiting website can tell you that if you do your own research. Levis had two years as a starter, it’s a decent sample size but not four years of tape like some make it out to be. He had a good line and good OC one year (he was mocked as the number one pick the summer after this season), and he had a year with absolutely no help. Coaching, line or weapons. if you want to say he’s an unknown due to the inconsistency, that is fair. But let’s not act like he had OSUs or Bamas cast around him. His accuracy and completion percentage is just fine for what he was working with.

I don’t think he will be there. I don’t think any of the top four QBs will. If we decide to sit pretty at 9 and one of them falls to us, yea, we have to take them. -
JOE PERSON: Panthers will not pursue Lamar Jackson

I’m happy we aren’t going after him. His best years are going to be behind him. -
It would be silly to tank this season for one of those two guys. Unless we really poo the bed early on. I do think it’s possible Tampa is so bad they get one of these kids next year. And that would suck.

I don’t see the Wilson comps for Will. Somewhat Darnold but even those, to me, aren’t very accurate. Just my opinion, most of this board wants Stroud and a lot of people would be fine with anyone but Levis. I echo the first sentiment but not the second one. If Reich and company believe in Levis, there’s no reason for fans to be down in the dumps about it. At least until he plays a few games.

The more I think about it the more I think we have to get to 1. Sounds like we are locked in on Stroud. You can’t risk Houston grabbing him at 2 if that’s your guy. Come on down, CJ

I’m fine with it. He will be the best QB in the division for a solid month. Then we take Stroud.

Stroud, Young, Levis, Richardson. In that order.

People need to chill and let our staff do its thing. If they think giving up three picks is worth it for one of these QBs, we have zero reason to doubt them at this point. All off season we’ve talked about the all star coaching staff we’ve assembled. Let’s give them a chance to do something before doom and gloom kicks in. Not a single one of us won’t be excited if we trot a first round rookie out there to start the opening game. Would be beyond refreshing.

It’s definitely something you have to think hard about, if you’re the front office. You get a lot of cheap talent with first rounders. But like you said, we need fresh blood at QB to be excited about and we have a window to win right now. Who knows how long that will be open in our division. Or in a broader sense, the NFC.

I think the comparisons are valid. My hesitation with AR is that Josh is a unicorn in the fact that he got much better in the NFL. That typically does not happen to QBs. At least in terms of accuracy.
-
As he should. Our team is in win now mode. Even if we don’t have every piece in place for a title run, we current have the best roster and coaching staff in the division and I’m not sure it’s close. I think Stroud or Young could lead this team to the playoffs, maybe beyond, in year one.

Nailed it. We have to try something different at this point. You know what they say about insanity..
