Round 1 - The Carolina Panthers Select Bryce Young - QB - Alabama

Overcompensating. We all saw you pre draft. -
Colts taking Will Levis in the 2nd after drafting AR15?
WUnderhill replied to TheWiz's topic in Carolina Panthers
Looks like Jim’s been smoking crack again. -
I wouldn’t adjust the draft based on any of those guys. YGM is more of a hybrid trash can so far in his career if he got cut would anybody even pick him up? Sanders is 6’4 and will add more weight to his frame. Once he gets up to 250+ I see a Clay Matthews type player being great in coverage, rushing the passer, and run stopping.

Which team ‘won’ round 1 and which team ‘bombed’

Tampa is going for a QB prospect next year instead of taking the 4th QB this year. I don’t blame them. -
Eh, don’t get cute, take Sanders or one of the guards in that scenario.

DAY 2: Best of the Rest Big Board by Positions of Interest
WUnderhill replied to MHS831's topic in Carolina Panthers
I appreciate you including Sanders as an edge. He started his college career as a DE not a LB. I think he makes so much sense and brings so much versatility as a 3-4 OLB. -
Dave Tepper has become a major asset for the Panthers
WUnderhill replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
I’m no Tepper apologist, but give credit where it’s due at least. There’s a few areas where owners can be assets, and he has opened up his wallet for coaches since he got here. Matt Rhule was the wrong person to open the wallet for, but he did it still, and now he’s got an actual good head coach who he gave the green light to go get the best coaching staff regardless of cost. -

You’re reaching pretty hard on the meddling part. He didn’t meddle with Rhule either he just made a hiring mistake and gave him too much power. Did you watch the press conference? They talk a lot about the process on the trade. There’s no doubt the team has not been good yet with him as owner, but he seems to be getting a lot right now that Rhule is gone. -

Taking a 25 year old who’s going to sit his whole rookie season due to injury in the first round? Thanks but no thanks. -

Panthers and Eagles clear winners. Once Nolan Smith dropped into the late 20s I wanted the Panthers to trade up for him so bad. Really disgusting the Eagles get to add the caliber of those 2 players to the best team in the NFC. Oh and they got to move up to the top of the 3rd just because the Cardinals organization is dumb as fug. Yes, I’m jealous as hell. Wtf are the Lions doing. They lost Witherspoon and had no plan B apparently. Still, they could have done literally anything other than what they did. -

Hiring Matt Rhule was his biggest mistake. There is a lot to like of what he said in this press conference. He admits he’s not a football expert, so he’s not a cocky know-it-all. He let Scott and Frank and the scouts do their job and stayed out of the way. He has a good grasp of what it means to own a business and hire the right people so that you can let those people do the job you hired them for.- 99 replies

If the Steelers don’t take Porter with the top pick in the 2nd rd, I’d be shocked.
-
You’re still here?
-
Aaron Rodgers fuming rn lol.
-
He’s getting into the teams that don’t need QBs range. Could slip all the way out of the first if the Bucs don’t take him.

At the time we were in tank mode and it looks like the Rams picks will be t10ish picks over the next couple years. Just using Carter as an example, it would be trading a pass rusher for a more talented pass rusher and delaying the amount of time until you have to pay the pass rusher that is more in line with your championship window, and then getting extra picks on top of that while simultaneously reducing the amount of picks we would have had to use to trade up to 1 if it had led to us losing more games. I don’t want to derail the thread. Just jealous of the Eagles getting one of the top 3 most talented players in the draft after coming off a Super Bowl.

I hate to say it, but what the Eagles just did is the exact reason you trade Brian Burns to the Rams for 2 future first round picks.
-
They really need to speed this poo up. Over an hour in and only 8 picks. I’m not trying to stay up until 1 am to find out if the Panthers trade to the back end of the first.

I saw some people saying AZ was considering this guy at 3. I bet Cards are thrilled to get what they got from Houston and still be able to get their guy.

So much action this is wild.

Witherspoon is so good, but I thought they might go Carter.

Good fuging thing we didn’t stay at 9.
