2023 Charlotte Hornets Summer League
WUnderhill replied to MillionDollarCam's topic in Charlotte Hornets
I actually think it’s kind of bad considering Nnaji is the only big we have on the summer league roster and we played him limited minutes. He’ll have more trouble once actual NBA teams start rotating multiple large bodies. -

I think the media is setting fans up for some disappointment with him, at least in year 1. If he can’t back Brandon Miller down in the post he’s going to have a tough time with many of the guys he plays against, and a 6’10 guy with muscle and man strength should be able to bully him under the basket on offense. Heck, the ESPN guys were saying before the game yesterday that their minimum “reasonable” expectations for him that game was a double double. We see how that went. Wouldn’t surprise me at all if he doesn’t end up in the rookie of the year conversation. I think the Spurs will have him on strict minutes as well. That being said, he looks like a great prospect and if he can add strength and stay healthy I would expect him to have a huge impact in years to come. -

Wemby said after the game that every time he came out he was gassed and that he needs to work on his conditioning. He said it was a lot more running and transition basketball than he was used to. Imagine the field day the Miller haters would have if he said something like that even though he is still recovering from mono. All these guys are going to be adjusting from 15-30 game seasons to 82. That’s a huge adjustment and it is harder for the bigger players. The NBA regular season is a slog even from a fan’s perspective, I can’t imagine what it’s like for the players. I wish they would reduce the amount of games so that there was less of guys taking games off and each game mattered a little bit more but it won’t happen. -
Jumping to the conclusion that grown adults bullied his kids based off those comments is wild.

I mean it really wasn’t a bad trade we gave up what a 5th or 6th rounder? And the Browns picked up a bunch of his contract. Now in hindsight, yes trading literally anything for the level of play we got was not worth it, but at the time I don’t think it was a terrible gamble. But also Matt Rhule was coach so there’s that.

Where’s Mingo? -
Kasay should be in for sure. Did they set a limit for how many they would do per year? Otherwise I don’t see the point in waiting for any of the guys you mentioned.

I don’t necessarily disagree with you, but something tells me your mindset would be different if we drafted Scoot. If so, then it’s really not about the Hornets demonstrating that they are making the correct choices, but rather the Hornets making the choices YOU think are correct. Am I wrong and you would be saying the same thing about Scoot? -
Hornets Signing LaMelo Ball to Max Extension
WUnderhill replied to MillionDollarCam's topic in Charlotte Hornets
Good lord, Lamelo Ball is only the third player EVER to put up 3000 points, 1,000 assists, 1,000 rebounds by 22yrs old. The other 2 are Luka and Lebron. But yeah, let’s get rid of him! Y’all put the ESPN hot take chuckleheads to shame. -
Pretty much this. The NBA is about taking gambles. Wembanyama is even a gamble because guys his height historically have chronic foot, knee, etc injuries. The Bucks gambled on Giannis in the late lottery and it paid off. There’s many gambles that don’t. I actually liked the Hornets draft because it looked like they were actually taking risks on high upside guys instead of playing it safe and finding average role players to leech minutes and keep the team in the play-ins. The team needs to be gambling on guys to find stars, it’s not at a point where they need to be looking for high floor role players. The problem is, even if the Hornets make the right picks, chances are the organization will fail to develop them.

2023 Charlotte Hornets Summer League

Lol not acting like the sky is falling on a prospect after 2 summer league games = defending every bad move of the franchise? And how does anybody’s opinion on this board help or not help? This is some serious clown poo. Some of y’all need to get a grip. What I’m seeing is a very poorly coached squad and some young fat headed hero ballers. The organization desperately needs coaches who can coach and develop players and y’all are focused on whining about the one guy in summer league who’s not a complete dead end on offense. We’re talking about 2 summer league games here…SUMMER LEAGUE…and Miller is leading in assists from the wing lol. Amari Bailey had ZERO assists last game. They are running zero offense and the ball stops at literally everybody but Miller. He’s not perfect but jfc. -
That’s fine we just drafted 2 guards we need to develop. The more decisions out of Clifford’s hands the better just like when we got rid of Plumlee and he was forced to start playing Mark Williams.

Maybe we can hear about something other than the Lakers now. -
Newbie gains…that being said it’s only been a couple weeks since we last saw him I’m sure the camera is adding 10lbs.

Panthers Blueprint Episode 3: Embracing The Future
WUnderhill replied to Mr Mojo Risin's topic in Carolina Panthers
Some of you can’t help but complain about every little thing huh. We get a 45m episode and you really complaining about including 3m of media footage smdh. -
Thought this was a good video with fair analysis of some of Miller’s strengths, as well as things he needs to work on.

People would hate it, but try to sign Bridges to a team friendly longer term deal while his value is low. If Bridges would go for it. If he plays well the team either has a young player on a good contract or an extremely valuable trade asset. That’s the type of thing that can set up long term sustained success. Also the obvious fire Mitch and Cliff for the love of all that is good. But at this point the team has already missed out on several good coaches by dragging their feet.

I said they should have drafted both Duren and Williams. I agree Williams looks like a good pick so far.
-
It’s so stupid we traded that Jalen Duren pick because we supposedly couldn’t use it but used one of the picks to draft a similar but worse and more raw player than Duren. Probably would have been better off just drafting both Duren and Williams and we’d really only be out Nick Smith. Smith better be the steal of the draft, they got lucky a lottery prospect fell to them.
