NFL Playoffs Divisional Round - Games Thread
WUnderhill replied to Bear Hands's topic in Carolina Panthers
A minute with all 3 timeouts is plenty of time to get in FG range. -
Yeah that reasoning makes no sense. Sounds like Disner isn’t going to be Johnson’s GM no matter where Johnson goes. Washington already hired Peters.

Pretty confident its gonna be Dan Morgan GM
WUnderhill replied to Frank9999's topic in Carolina Panthers
I honestly have no clue what anybody’s responsibilities and levels of input were. Is there even a general consensus on duties of an assistant GM or is it entirely case by case? Legit question I have no fugging clue. Some people think Tepper overrode everybody on everything, and if that’s the case how can we make any educated guesses about anybody. Not saying that’s what happened, just think we should take a step back and be honest with ourselves that we really know jack poo. -

Well it is logical. Fitterer isn’t the only person Morgan has ever worked with, and just because you work with someone who failed and got fired doesn’t mean you will repeat the same mistakes. The world is literally full of people who get promoted into positions that their predecessor was fired from. Assistant GMs, Assistant Coaches, Assistant Managers, Vice Presidents, etc. They aren’t all successes and they aren’t all failures. Unless somebody has some insider knowledge that Morgan was in Fitterers ear giving bad advice the whole time, I’m not sure why you would automatically assume he would be a train wreck. -

Brandon Beane also worked under a GM that made some stupid decisions. Unless you have first hand knowledge of what were Morgan’s thoughts and decisions behind the scenes vs. Tepper/Fitterer/whoever, then what is the point fretting over it?- 144 replies

We need 4 new starting OL.

Well the premise that I responded to was “if he doesn’t want the job”…so that would be the reason. You’d just be interviewing him for appearances, which is a waste of everybody’s time. Also you really have no idea if the team has reached out to Harbaugh because he’s not an NFL coach and it wouldn’t be reported.
-
Can we get a list of the physically hot candidates? That’s who we should be focusing on.
-
Since I’m a Panthers fan, I hope the Panthers are the best team in football every year and I don’t really care if David Tepper falls back asswards into it. I don’t care if it’s Harbaugh as the coach or some dude I’ve never heard of, as long as the team is good. It’s weird seeing all the “fans” here who are hoping for failure or the team to be moved or whatever. Hoping the Falcons do well so that David Tepper learns some sort of lesson is weird. You don’t even know if Tepper tried to get an interview with Harbaugh. For all you know, Harbaugh could be Tepper’s top choice and Harbaugh just doesn’t want to coach here. I would define somebody who hopes Harbaugh “goes to Atlanta and owns the division for years” as a Falcons fan, not a Panthers fan.

To appease an internet message board of course.

This is such a weird mindset.

Bryce was allegedly yelled at by Bozeman...
WUnderhill replied to BenjaminBreeg's topic in Carolina Panthers
Yeah everybody needs you to educate them that college is different from the NFL. You say “NFL open” because that’s the best you can do for our abysmal receivers to put as much of the blame on the QB as possible. Separation charts had been posted earlier in the season. It wasn’t good. Again, nobody’s in here absolving the QB of all blame. He’s missed throws. He’s accounted for his own share of sacks and mistakes. EVERY QB has. Some of us just choose to acknowledge the dumpster fire around him as well. If there’s anybody I’m in “wait and see” mode with it’s the rookie QB, not the vet OL whiffing on blocks, not the slow receivers quitting on routes, not the jag RBs. You can keep screaming bust for another season if you want because like it or not Young will get at least that. Sounds fun. -

Ok now show all the blown blocks and jailbreaks from this supposedly average OL. Nobody is in here saying Bryce Young is perfect and hitting every open receiver. You clearly have an agenda if that’s what you took from my post. Edit to add: this “NFL-open” buzz term is something that has suddenly become very popular here this season. Might want to think about why that is. Could it be just the term “open” rarely describes our receivers? -

Even if the OL gives 10 seconds of a clean pocket, what’s the difference if the slow receivers take 15 seconds to get to their spot? I’m clearly exaggerating with the numbers. The problem is the whole offense and pretty much every offensive player. The OL is bad, compounded by bad and slow receivers, compounded by RBs trying to do too much in the backfield, compounded by penalties and awful 1st and 2nd down plays, compounded by a rookie QB who has zero room for rookie QB mistakes, which puts us into more 2nd and 15, 3rd and 15 than I’ve ever seen in a season. If you’re in here saying this offensive line is performing adequately, I think you aren’t watching the games and have a bias. I’m not sure we’d be worse if we cut every single player. -
I’m not sure how he “got away” with anything. He’s got a lot of egg on his face, and the league fined him. If I were the Jags, I would ban him from my stadium, but that’s up to them. The fan can also report it to the police, but that’s up to them and it would be pretty petty. In reality, the fact that he is so rich actually opens him up MORE to some frivolous lawsuit over a tossed beverage. This probably happens with normal fans at stadiums all the time and nothing ever comes of it and we never hear about it specifically because they are not rich public figures like Tepper.

That bowl game was such a trap for FSU. Georgia is probably the best team in the country coming off a loss and a playoff snub with a chip on their shoulder. I don’t think any team in the country wins that game against Georgia. Lose lose situation.
-
I’m not an FSU supporter, I’m just not an SEC nuthugger. The point is that any excuse given for FSU’s omission does not hold up under scrutiny. If they would come out and say we’d just rather have Alabama and Texas in for money, or the SEC gets an automatic bid from us because we think it’s the best conference, then we’d all know what the score is.
-
Ok Nostradamus. I suppose you’re ok with offensive juggernaut Michigan being ranked #1 though. Even though that’s the excuse for jobbing FSU, offense. Love that Alabama/Mich game decided by Alabama mistakes. And that Wash/Tex game where the Heisman candidate QB got to carve up a terrible secondary. The final scores were nice and all, but we don’t have to make up stories about these looking like the best 4 teams in the country. Georgia is still probably the best team in the country. I doubt Penix would do what he did against the FSU defense, and Alabama barely beat Auburn, looked like trash against UAB or whoever that trash school was, had to bench Milroe because he was so bad, and had the game of their lives against a Georgia team missing starters. Worst Bama team in years. But hey, they’re in the SEC they must be sooooo much better than everybody else because that’s what they say. Don’t worry, snapping the ball isn’t important. And yeah, FSU is not as good without literally half their starters, I’m not sure what the point of mentioning that is. Everybody except Travis would have been playing in the CFP. Were they the best team in the country? Who knows, probably not, but they earned their spot. They played good teams without Travis and still won. We’ll never know.
-
That’s certainly what the committee wants you to think. Unfortunately, we’ll never know.

Yeah officiating been so much better since JR was forced to sell lol. The NFL wanted JR out for a while. I hated the NFL shield at midfield as much as anybody, doesn’t mean I have to pretend like every single thing about Jerry Richardson was bad. He never had teams this bad. I would take Richardson over Tepper 10 times out of 10. Saying some fans are too dumb to see the grass isn’t always greener and not recognizing a smear job when they see one is just acknowledging reality. Dm me when Kraft is forced to sell. -

Lol, he won’t be forced to sell, and if he was we wouldn’t get anybody better. We had our local owner who cared about the culture and loved the players and plenty of y’all wanted him gone so we could bring in some rich northern asshole. -
