Following this live commentary on here is actually quite exciting.... I feel ashamed of myself.

Wow, the amount of attention this guy is getting because of his legal troubles rather than his actual talent is reflective of NFL fans nowadays. I reckon that DGB would be getting a fraction of the discussion if he had missed last year for different reasons e.g. injury or if his name was Dorial Smith. The guy has legitimate areas of improvement as a receiver and hasn't really demonstrated the strength of character to improve his game. I'm so sure that he's been over-hyped that I'm willing to bet that he won't be in the top 5 rookie receivers this season for receiving yards.
-
Don't worry guys, we'll just skip over 2014 for you, no need to worry about the other outstanding receivers that have shown more than just one year's production.
-
This suggests you have no idea how pro scouts evaluate college talent. This is just factually incorrect.
-
Why is it hard to believe that there might be other receivers who have more potential than a guy who put together 1300 total yards in college?

Fantastic post, great start to draft week. -
We're comparing two different types of wideout with different values attached to them. Parker is a high point specialist with very good mobility and is a natural fit at X or Z receiver on the outside. Agholor uses route timing and angles to his advantage from the slot. Different receivers who naturally have different value, regardless of who we think is going to be more productive.
-
There's every chance you're right and I have a lot of faith in Agholor, but right now Parker is 3 inches taller, just as fast and quite a bit stronger. I get the feeling Agholor would be a great fit in the right system, while you could build your system around Parker.
-
Why on earth do we need more draft picks? There is a significant drop off in talent between the top 3 receivers and the rest. If Parker falls beyond 18 you make a move for him if you're serious on a 1st rd WR.

Why aren't we hearing more about Chris Conley?
London Loves Luke replied to Panther4lyfe's topic in Carolina Panthers
He's put up minimal stats in a pretty run heavy Georgia offence and that's why he's not in many conversations. Rather than watch his highlights, watch his play by play on Draft Breakdown, he does have some real athleticism and his hands aren't bad. Definitely worth a look but some scouts will be iffy because of his lack of college production (which I think has minimal bearing on NFL potential). http://draftbreakdown.com/video/chris-conley-vs-tennessee-2013/ -
USC WR Nelson Agholor has private visit with Panthers today

Can someone please show me some game film of Strong getting YAC? I swear I've seen him make good contested catches but I've barely ever seen him get upfield after the catch. -
Lol I gotta agree with the "are you high?" comments Rodeo, you normally talk a lot more sense. In terms of locker room presence Tillman is replacing Drayton Florence, you can question his impact on the field but Florence was a real leader to the young CBs and they made this clear when he left. Tillman will be nothing but a good presence for Norman, Bene, White and the others.

Sorry if you're a State fan, but just had to post this video of KB and Greene absolutely tearing NC up last year. Greene has by far the more receptions and there's a great shot of KB and Greene blocking for a O'Leary TD. http://youtu.be/5Vmry7nr8fw

lol nice avatar.

Posted my rubbish explanation before reading this. You've got it spot on with this, everything I hear about this guy includes how great he is in the locker room.
-
I get that's not what is usually looked at, but why not? These guys have proven they can perform individually and complimented each other at college. All it takes is one block where KB knows which direction Greene might cut in and he might be through for a big gain. A receiver who doesn't know Greene might not throw that block or might choose the wrong direction. If there's a slight competitive advantage there why not use it?
-
It's interesting to think he might be worth more to us than other teams due to how successful he was with KB. I doubt the FO see it this way but his consistent play at college and that chemistry with KB has me excited about him.
-
I like and get your reasoning behind this list, definitely talent here. But each of these guys is physically undersized and will effectively be a low percentage target asked to run deep and stretch the field, which is not what we're missing in my eyes. Benjamin and Ginn are both effective Deep ball targets, Ginn because of speed and KB because you put him on an island 1-1 outside and he can out reach backs to make the play. What we need and where Cam is most effective is throwing intermediate to Olsen. we've been trying to fill this receiver hole with Avant/Cotchery and recently Jennings. Greene is that guy, a true No 2 that knows KB and will be able to use the space behind him immediately. That's a true pressure release for the offense, someone that can run cross field and win 1-1 match ups against LBs while Ginn and KB are sent up the field.

If you're basing "anything special" on his size and speed then you may be right, I'm basing his anything special on his competitiveness, leadership and ability to play as a WR.
