Ah, yes. Jake's last good moment as a Panther by somehow juking Hall for a game-sealing first down. It's almost as though he never saw it coming. Wonder if it's the same with getting the axe.

Cam Newton wouldn't trade MVP Award for Super Bowl Ring
outlaw4 replied to PantherBoy95's topic in Carolina Panthers
First off, I'm not a big fan of these hypotheticals. Second, I'm often skeptical of what people say in that type of forum. Far too many saying things because shock value equals attention. Third, a football team is - at minimum - 50+ players plus coaches and all the support staff on and off the field. I personally don’t like this notion as much but the quarterback is usually the face of the franchise, the leader. You give up your body and soul for everyone around you to where individual achievements are secondary if it means you leave the field as the ultimate winner along with everyone else. To this day, I still remember Thomas Davis utterly broken after losing the SB and the man played with a busted arm. You're telling me an MVP award isn't worth giving up if it meant he could've cried tears of joy instead? To give all those kids that special moment in their lives watching a victory parade? To put that cherry on the top for every fan here on that 2015 season instead of us still wondering if we'll ever see the Panthers lifting the Lombardi within our lifetimes? I don't know, man. Maybe it's just how I view leadership as being so much more about those around you than yourself. -
Bills choke again. This is why I couldn't enjoy this game. We all knew how this was going to end.
-
Could be a career-defining drive for Allen if he can engineer a long drive that ends with a TD.
-
Dang, so close to turning the ball over.
-
Cannot turn the ball over in the playoffs and win. Just doesn't happen that often. I don't see the Commanders getting out of this hole.
-
Washington needs to ditch these lateral pass plays. They end up much like ours; waste of a down.
-
If that was a Panthers receiver, they would've been tackled immediately.
-
Yeah, this game already feels over. That "effort" by the Washington D made our run defense look slightly better!
-
Daniels threw a lot of balls low on that initial drive.

Going with Eagles and Chiefs mainly because that's the matchup I want to see the least and given how things have gone recently, whatever I want, the opposite happens. If Washington does win, it's because they slow down Barkley just enough to force the Eagles to lean on Hurts, who I believe is going to be a liability if pressed to do more. Chiefs and Bills has become Brady versus Manning in the playoffs. it's that hurdle Manning could not clear for ages until he finally did. Maybe Allen could do the same, but there's every reason to doubt it happening in the now.

That will be Canales' challenge for himself going into the next season. We may have finished the season quite strong, but we did enough good things on tape for our opposition to look over and counter. To some extent, I do think Slowik was a bit of a scapegoat. There were injuries to the O-line and he kept losing receivers throughout the season. The not being to adjust bit is a rather common flaw with a lot of NFL staff. It's just a bit odd to let go of someone that quickly, though. Almost hints of something more to this story that we're not privy to. And Bills fans reaction to this will be fully dependent on what happens tomorrow.
-
From what I'm gathering from Texans fans, they hated Slowik and are very glad he's gone. Why? I can't seem to nail down exact reasons other than being unwilling to adjust, and some general grumbling about the offense from a few Texans players. The current staff already got Bryce off the ground and playing a lot better, and so I don't see Slowik being that helpful there. Finally, I don't see Canales relinquishing playcalling duties except maybe someone already within his circle that he trusts, not really some guy from the outside he doesn't really know.

Liam Coen to the Jaguars as HC. https://www.nbcsports.com/nfl/profootballtalk/rumor-mill/news/liam-coen-informs-buccaneers-hes-talking-jaguars-head-coaching-job

Wow. Baalke actually got the boot. Jaguars fans must be elated, but this completely screwed up their coaching search waiting so long to do it. https://www.nbcsports.com/nfl/profootballtalk/rumor-mill/news/trent-baalke-out-as-jaguars-g-m

Not sure how Caleb was labeled back then has much relevance in the now. What I see was a QB that got sacked 68 times and whether how much of that was on him versus the protection, if Ben Johnson and company doesn't find a way to address that, whatever they try to do is likely not going to work.
-
They cannot. This game looks over to me already.
-
Only felt like that for well over a decade now.

This has got to be a massive kick in the you-know-what for Lions fans. I doubt he'll get a welcome reception when he's back inside their stadium next season.
-
And only one of those elite QBs actually has a ring. One might get a chance soon, but it's also possible they'll end their careers without ever getting the top prize. Fans and media get so obsessed about QBs to where it's as though having an elite guy is your only way in. It helps, certainly, but I think it's more having the QB who can actually play good enough in the playoffs. Even for some elite guys, they crumble under this pressure.
-
Not exactly an apples to apples comparison since the Cardinals game was post-Tommy John Delhomme who was throwing ducks for passes. He got away with it most of the season, but it fully unraveled in the worst possible way. He just wasn't the same QB anymore. Goff's best defense is getting concussed during the game but he'd already turned the ball over twice by the time he got hit. The common thread amongst the winning QB's is not turning the ball over. My biggest concern with Bryce is with the fumbles but he seems not to put the ball in danger through the air that often. Only way to find out for sure is getting to the playoffs.

Good recovery from earlier in the game, but those turnovers still proved costly. Playoff football is so much more about just playing good solid football and not making mistakes. Lamar and Andrews simply made too many.
-
Bills defense went MIA that drive.
-
Ok, that one you can't blame Lamar.

Bills suddenly remembered that their running game exists.
