He’s a strong WR2 imo, and we should trade him if he wants big WR1 money.
-
Im not as sure. Only thing still giving me hope he’s a legit WR1 is the QB situation he’s had to endure. I don’t see him getting enough separation.
-
I get your point, but what if that known commodity wants WR1 money when he’s probably worth WR2 money? Do you potentially overpay or build for the future? If we don’t think we can resign him, he should be traded as he’s worth more than a 3rd rd comp pick.

Top 3 risers: 1. Reddick 2. Shaq 3. Jackson Top 3 fallers: 1. IOL (Miller/Daley/Paradis) 2. Brown 3. McCaffrey due to increasing injury concerns Top 3 Players (excluding CMC when healthy): 1. Reddick 2. Chinn 3. Burns

I haven’t seen the other QBs enough to comment, but if you had suggested Pickett over Howell a year ago you would have been ridiculed. Howell had one talented WR to work with this year. No other WRs or RBs or OL were helping him much at all. Fortunately, we may get an opportunity to ‘buy low’ because his stock suffered a bit. He was widely considered QB1 in this draft based on his first two years and stats that rivaled Trevor Lawrence. Its not like he had a bad year. He actually proved to be more multiple as a threat with his legs this year than previously thought. If I’m Fitt and crew, I pick LT or Linderbaum with first pick and then I’m pairing DJ Moore with Day 3 picks, if need be, to move into the end of the 1st to pick Howell.

He’ll be our highest paid player soon.

Let’s pretend we are able to successfully trade back twice in the draft and look at last years draft for reference. So assuming picks are valued similarly this year and we have trade partners, we could potentially flip a #6 for around: 2022 1st rd pick #20 2022 4th rd pick #123 2023 1st rd pick 2023 1st rd pick 2023 4th rd pick I don’t think anyone would be mad at that. I would then use pick #20 on a QB and heavy on OL for the rest. Start the QB you draft next year and if it goes terribly, you are in prime position with draft capital to move up for Bryce Young in 2023. You can also flip the #20 QB for draft picks like the Jets did with Darnold to further build OL. Who knows? Maybe the QB you draft is solid and you’re left with tons of draft capital to address other holes. I believe Fitt can and will attempt to trade back.
-
Agree, but a top 5 pick could really bring in Day 1/2 draft picks in a trade back scenario. Last draft, the #6 pick went for: 2021 #12, 2021 4th, and 2022 1st. The #10 pick went for: 2021 #12, 2021 3rd. That additional 1st rounder would be huge in 2023 when we may still be looking for QB/OL help.

Difficult for Trubisky to do either when he’s the scapegoat for the coach/fans. All Nagy needed was his QB, they said. Foles came and proved worse than Mitch. Well then the narrative switched bc they have a ‘young franchise QB’ that will carry the team to success. Womp womp. He turned in a first year also worse than Trubisky. Maybe, just maybe, it’s Nagy’s terrible system combined with a bottom of the league skill position group. Lets see what opportunities he gets this off-season. Whether you want to admit it or not, we would be a better team this year with Mitch than any of the QBs on our roster. It also wouldn’t have cost as much as we spent for terrible QB play. A long-term, high-end QB2 contract would have likely done it. Look where we are now and look at the Bears. Both suck and would’ve have been better off with Mitch.
-
While you’re laughing, go look up Nagy’s record in Chicago with Trubisky at QB vs any other QB (including Fields).
-
If you had that kind of patience, Trubisky would still be your QB and you’d likely be in the playoffs this year.
-
You’d be terrified if you were a Bears fan and fields put up that kind of first year. One of the worst starts ever for a NFL QB ratings wise.

-Trade back and draft Howell late 1st. -Figure out if DJ Moore will sign for lengthy above avg WR2 contract. If not, trade him + late pick to move up in 1st for OL. -Let Reddick and Jackson go as UFA. Stockpile comp picks for 2023. -Tag Gilmore. Sign to team friendly, hometown discount extension if he’s willing. -Start Darnold first half of next year. If he plays well, trade him for assets. If he doesn’t, play Howell after trade deadline. If it goes poorly, should have a decent position/assets to make a move and draft Bryce Young in 2023. That’s my plan, and I routinely crush my 7 y.o. in Madden so it’ll work.

I want McCaffery on the Panthers. When we find a QB, it will pay off.
-
I want to take my family to the Falcons game on Dec. 12. It will be the first Panthers game for all of us. Where is the best place to look for tickets? The usual places like seatgeek or stubhub?

We haven’t been this bad ever. Our record shows it.

Owner change Coaching change GM change MVP QB injuries/play declined Surprise retirement from one of the all-time best defensive players and heart of the team Injuries to one of the top offensive weapons in the NFL Why are you shocked we’ve struggled? -
The game would have been much closer if CMC wasn’t active, but I’d give it to Cam for the sentiment and to build morale for a strong finish to the season.

anyone else think they need to resign cam tomorrow

Carolina Panthers agree to terms with Cam Newton.

A few posters in here complaining that Rhule, Fitt, and Tepper just keep bringing in QBs until they find one that fits. That’s exactly what I want. Of course it would be nice to hit on the first option, but at least we’re not treading water with a long term dud. They’ll find one. -
So are we allowed to use the T word and focus on the draft?
ECHornet replied to TheBigKat's topic in Carolina Panthers
Not really. He doesn’t run hard into contact. He runs slow and slips tackles to avoid big hits. I agree he won’t break as many in the NFL. He will, however, have more than one capable WR to throw to. -

320 yards of total offense, 3 TDs, and led his team to victory. I’ll take it. -

2 games out of 9 and one of those he scored 3 TDs and threw for over 300. Yes, the fumbles against GT were terrible but the oline needs to take some of the blame there with 8 sacks. -

Sam Howell has not been very up and down this year. He’s having a strong year. Again. -
