That stings bc I like Reddick. Still, that other plan was signing Frankie Luvu for a third of the price. Not a bad consolation. Reddick signed for 3 years at 15mil per and Luvu for 2 years at 4.5mil per. Reddick is a bigger game wrecker as far as sacking the QB and creating turnovers, but Luvu had 111 combined tackles this year to Reddick’s 49. Reddick is a pass rush specialist who played 74% of Philadelphia’s defensive snaps. Luvu played 92% of ours. We did fine on that decision for where we are as an organization. We’re not in a Super Bowl window like the Eagles.

From reading, my best guess on the average ‘vote’ tier: 1. Reich (obviously) 2. Moore (young offensive mind who really impressed; received 2nd interview) 3. Wilks (captured locker room; received 2nd interview) 4. Caldwell (experience & maturity was clear over some of the “green” coordinators) 5. Payton (don’t think they ever seriously considered giving up the draft capital needed to acquire him; Tepper may have been the highest on hiring him) The big “what if” out of this hiring process, besides what Reich’s tenure will look like, is will Ben Johnson go on to become a successful HC one day.

I think many are selling YGM's potential in the 3-4 short. He's not a pass rushing threat as a 4-3 DE because he lacks the necessary quickness/explosion off the edge. He was, however, good against the run. According to ESPN, he was 8th out of all NFL DEs/OLBs in run stop win rate. If he does find sustained success in the NFL, I believe it will be in a 3-4 at 4/5T. He was 6'5, 266 at the NFL combine three years ago. I imagine he could easily get up to 280lbs without losing much athleticism. He may be that size already. That's sufficient to hold up at 4/5T, especially since he's shown to be capable against the run. I also think his level of quickness will be more of an asset kicking inside a bit versus off the edge. I'm interested to see what they do with him.

Ellis Williams. How to turn the Panthers around in one year
ECHornet replied to raleigh-panther's topic in Carolina Panthers
He seems like a less accurate Justin Fields which is scary. Only way I’m for it is if we start him Week 1 and stick with him if it goes south. Tank for Maye -

If Reich wouldn’t draft Young at 9, he’s not as smart as I currently view him. -
The QB School : Breaking down AR and Levis
ECHornet replied to Your GFs favorite huddler's topic in Carolina Panthers
Much more complimentary of AR than Levis. Basically poo’d on Levis the whole video, occasionally chalking his poor throws up to potential injuries or wind. AR showed more creativity and quick-twitch ability, but his footwork in the pocket needs grooming. He often hitches or brings his feet too close together before throws. There is no comparison in watching those two videos and then watching Bryce Young’s. He simply knows how to play the position much better than the others, and he also has improvisation skills that will change games. -
THE ATHLETIC: Potential cap casualties….
ECHornet replied to WarPanthers89's topic in Carolina Panthers
Why cut Shaq we he can be traded? His cap hit for 2024 would be $13,160,000 for his new team, good for 23rd in LB cap hits per Spotrac. Once new deals are signed this off-season, that will look like a decent price for Shaq on a one-year deal. -

Bryce Young dropped (due to size) in my draft. lol That would pretty much be my ideal draft. -

New rule: You’re only allowed one trade max and try to make it realistic. -
Scott Fitterer.... let's grade his drafts and FA signings
ECHornet replied to TheBigKat's topic in Carolina Panthers
A year removed from a draft, it’s really only fair to grade the first three rounds of picks. Any contribution from a rookie drafted in the 4th or later is a great pick. Honestly, should probably hold off 2-3 years for anyone drafted after the first round. -
another option than trading for the first pick...

I was just telling my wife he sounds like John Dutton. Haha -
I've been crossing my fingers we would have a chance to select Perry with our #62 or #94 pick. I'm starting to think our only chance at drafting him will be #40. He's had an excellent week at the Shrine Bowl. Listed at 6'5, 205 - I think it would be foolish to select Q Johnson in the top 15 if you can get a guy like Perry in the 2nd. I'm not sure which one will be a better pro. I think Perry has the better hands but Johnson may be better after the catch.

Ahlers should only get looks at FB/TE. I'm a Pirate fan, but his arm is not NFL level.

Report. Panthers pivoting from Shane Steichen
ECHornet replied to raleigh-panther's topic in Carolina Panthers
Steichen’s interview with the Panthers front office: -
The owner and front office don’t seem to be satisfied with the results. There are plenty of owners not willing to eat money on mistakes. Ours eats it and then is putting out record setting offers in attempts to land the best staff possible. I’ll take it.
-
Easy to imagine a scenario where Young is the QB who drops from here due to size concerns. The other QBs talked about in the top 4 are more of the prototype size wise.
-
Your hatred of all things Panthers front office is skewing your perspective.

Good news on Campen and Tabor. It sounds like Reich was told to keep them on staff rather than just “encouraged.” Smart move by Tepp/Fitt. Also, it seems clear our owner is willing to spend what it takes. Being that’s the main purpose of a sports team owner, I’m in the minority that’s happy with Tepper as our owner. We are forcing teams league wide to match what we are willing to pay.

When we traded the picks, SF was struggling and the total value was equivalent to ~late 1st. If SF wins the Super Bowl, those picks will be roughly equivalent to a mid 2nd total value. In reality, I prefer having four separate picks over just one mid-2nd since it increases the likelihood we select someone worth a mid-2nd.

OLB - Burns 3T - Ioannidis or similar NT - Brown 5T - YGM OLB - Luvu ILB - Shaq and B Smith
-
Wouldn’t that be the best win-win trade of all time. SF wins 14 straight and the Super Bowl then we use those picks to trade up & find a franchise QB who leads us to our first Super Bowl.
