  1. I also want a real QB and a winning team. Those don’t preclude having a top 5 RB. CMC would only make that QB’s job easier. His contract isn’t what is keeping us from having a franchise QB.
  2. Do you think madden, fantasy owners, and all ranking systems that say CMC is one of the better offensive weapons in the league are racist? CMC fans aren’t just making stuff up when considering him one of the best at his position.
  3. The post I was responding to asked for “any” evidence that Fitt could be a competent GM. Hard to argue against our improvement along the OL which was one of the weakest spots of our team. When I look at the QB room, I see that we’ve taken shots to get it right. We’ve missed on those shots, but at least we move on quickly in search of our next franchise QB. We’re in decent shape with our cap. A few guys we can move on from in the off-season to add room. No really bad contracts beyond next year that we’re stuck with.
  4. Compare our OL now to when he arrived. That should settle it for you.
  5. He moves the needle more than most in the league at his position. The problem is no position has a bigger effect on the needle than QB, and we have had a terrible run there the last few years.
  6. The time to trade CMC is next year before the deadline if we have a poor record. He'll still have value and the dead money will not be crushing at that point. Next year is toast if we trade CMC now. Maybe they are willing to throw in the towel on next year already, but our defense is ready if we get the right QB/OC. In the hypothetical scenario where we land a top 3 QB in the draft and they are actually what we hope, I would hate to be down our best offensive weapon + the player(s) $18+ million would bring next year.
  7. Seems like Fitterer and Campen deserve a lot of praise for our current OL play. For what Fitt inherited at OL, to be where we are now up front is impressive. Now get us a QB.
  8. Can someone remind me how much cap space we thought we would have this time last year, and how much we ended up having this offseason?
  9. Anderson in 2023 and Drake in 2024. So let it be written. So let it be done.
  10. With the significant injury to Javonte Williams and knowing the Broncos are wanting to compete now while we need a tank/rebuild... Broncos get: Christian McCaffery Panthers get: Javonte Williams 2024 1st Round Pick This would be a win/win if McCaffery helps the Broncos make a deep playoff push. In 2024, we would have some cap savings, a stud RB on a cheap contract (if healthy), plus an extra 1st rounder to build around.
  11. How many games of production do you expect out of 6th & 7th rounders? You show me his highlights from Sunday and ask if I’d trade a 6th & 7th for it…. every day of the week!
  12. Shenault’s run after catch was more impressive than all but a handful of plays I’ve seen from DJ since we drafted him. You can be impressed by that performance without anointing him an All-Pro caliber pickup.
  13. Love Luvu Seeing him play makes me wish we traded Reddick for assets last year.
  14. I’m a fan of CJ and like the trade so far. Hope he continues playing well enough to be here opposite Horn for a long time!
  15. Chinn for Allen. Maybe see if they’ll add a pick in there too.
  16. I honestly don’t think Watson will end up a better option than Brissett even through next year. Watson has had too much time off and too many distractions. Plus, Brissett at QB forces the Browns to do what they do best….run the football. They’ll probably be idiots and try to throw more with Watson at QB and their offense will suffer for it.
  17. That's the QB draft class to land a franchise player. Caleb Williams & Drake Maye >> Stroud, Young, Levis I'd be thrilled with Will Anderson this year. Consider trading Burns for a 1 & 3/4 in 2024 and then we have ammo to move up for one of those two QBs (if we aren't in that draft position already).
  18. This has been the most enjoyable thread on the Huddle for me this year. Good insight and info. It’s appreciated! Hopefully the next review is of a win.
  19. Not only was DJ double covered, but one DB had inside leverage to DJ’s in-breaking route. I can’t fault Baker for looking away from that to see what may be developing on the other side.
  20. Fitt was announced as Panthers GM on 1/14/21, so he’s still a fresh hire. I still think the talent on our roster and cap situation has improved over the last two years he’s been here. Plus, I like how active he’s been in making moves. Makes it more interesting to follow as a fan.
  21. I agree with you at RB. Mike Davis is a better back than Hubbard or Foreman. Signing him to the same deal he got with the Falcons (2 year, < 3mil per) would have been fine with me. WR - I liked Samuel, but I think Shenault can have a similar impact once he’s up to speed on the offense. Even if he isn’t Samuels’ equal, the depth of Shenault/Higgins/Smith/TMJ makes me feel better about this group. TE - Tremble/Thomas/Sullivan are at least equal to Thomas/Manhertz/Colin Thompson imo, and potential is also on their side.
